Two out of two score predictions for me ... No one really expected anything out of this fixture surely?

Winning streaks depend as much on the fixture list as anything else!

And that's part of the problem.

We don't expect anything out of a match against a team that were in a lower division to us last season?

Doubt it, rarely influences a game massively. But I doubt anyone will mention it.

Impossible to influence a game when stuck out wide, spent time defending also! Should be in the middle at the top of a diamond, very doubtful pearson would be that adventurous! He,s wasting a real talent there!!! - I was there by the way.

Beckford was about as inaffective as a Badger during Deer mating season.

Easy really, 2nd half you were much better than us and after King (I rate him) scored it was squeaky bum time. If you play like the 2nd half you will get results.

I thought he looked slow on Saturday - was it pace / strength or reading of the game that let him down tonight?

Unfair to single out Liam Moore - Morgan should take his fair share of the blame by not keeping close to Bradley Wright Philips - Moore is comfortable on the ball and got his fair share of headers.

The break for their first goal was on Konchesky's side of the pitch - he should have helped out.

Found it funny when Alan Young was going on about some Australian fan and then King scored.

Stringer and Young don't always agree with each other.

Just got back.

If we play like that every game between now and the end of the season (minus the finishing) we'll be top 6, no problem.

First 15 we were great - Dyer missed a simple chance by miles and there were a couple of other presentable chances.

Then Charlton dominated the next 30 without doing too much - their first came completely against the run of play and knocked the stuffing out of us.

Second half we were excellent. It was to be expected that we'd come on to them but the quality and invention in our chance creation was outstanding. A shame only one of them fell to King.

Will post more specifically on the players in the ratings thread.

For Charlton, BWP was outstanding - one of the best individual performances I've seen against us for a while.

As Martyn said he just got bullied. Didn't win a header all night, people get in behind him too easily but more worrying he always seems to go for the same balls Morgan does. I'm sure he'll come good eventually but he is clearly a full back rather than a centre back and tonight it showed sadly.

maybe all of us who didnt attend tonights game should base our opinions on this......

http://www.charltonl...h-views-opinion

They believe we looked to have the quality to be up there, and so do i.

Just need to play a few games to let the rustiness go.

That's a very encouraging read ..... "felt like a cup final" "hanging on" etc etc ..... I feel quite positive after reading that!!

To be fair to the lad it's a big step up to ask at his age and experience - out of position and a very hard position to make a single mistake in. Thanks for the info!

I'm with you - we should be expecting much more - I've been slated enough times for stating that!!!! But even I didn't

Expect much from tonight.

See the armchair ****** are out in force!

Well, what a crazy game that was. How we haven't won it let alone get a point I'll never know.

If Dyer had of buried that chance first 10 we would have won that easily.

Reminded me of the Southampton home game last year when they slaughtered us but we managed to win.

Fantastic finish by Kingy, needs to start Saturday as do Knocky and Nuge. Dyer, James and JB dropped!

Totally agree.

second half reminded me of sheff utd away when we won 1-0 (king) and mattock broke his leg. They dominated but we won.

Kermogant = decent?

Dominated the aerial game tonight to be honest and a smart finish.

Nothing further to add - if we continue playing like this, we'll be there or thereabouts. Nice evening out really, Charlton fans good (if not many of them), our fans were good, Chrissy P was good. Fairly positive about the next 44 games...

Credit where credits due Pearson sorted us out for the second half but he has to realise that you don't always have to play the same team after a win. It was quite clear that James isn't upto the required standard yet to play an away game in a midfield two but he went ahead and picked him anyway.

If we want to win back to back it's time to make the correct decisions before reaching half time and having a mountain to climb. It happened so many times last season.

King needs to get back in there Pronto, as does Nugent. Knocky looked exciting. Sad to say it but Moore has a shocker today but there are signs that he will be a very good player as he gets that experience.

Think that once we get Whitbread or St Ledger back, we can have a really good crack at this league

Worth pointing out that people's hero Beckford now has 1 goal in his last 11 (12 inc. cups) and has been replaced at half time 5 times in less than a year.

We improved immeasurably when he was hauled off.

King and de Laet were outstanding.

The second half was the best I've seen us play since February 2011.

Really hope that is true. We played some very good football at that time, and had 5 wins in a row. Would love to think we are close to doing that again.

Guys you haven't really got a lot to be disheartened about, we scores against the run of play and then for a lot of the first half it was all us, Beckford was very wasteful and not sure why he's in over nugent!

Second half was a different story, all is Charlton fans were very impressed by you, King was the game changer, what a player! Although whoever said to drop Dyer, he was your best player tonight caused a lot of problems, Knockaert(?) came on was fast but wasn't much more, tripped himself over in the box at one point.

On today's game I'm very happy with our hard fought three points but I'm convinced you'll be seriously contending for promotion, best of luck

Went to the game too. Agree with much of what Martyn said (#96), who also went. Haven't heard anything on the radio, including interviews; live near London so only see around 6-10 games a season.

I presume most of the (expected) negatives are from people who weren't there?!

We were the better team for all but about 20 mins, one soft goal from a long throw, looked dodgy from crosses in general, as I thought we did last year. Beyond that, we played well and looked a better, more attacking team than last year.

I can see where the negativity comes from for Beckford, re his demeanour, but I thought he worked hard, as the others did. The right back is a good player, Vardy will be too.

All round, an enjoyable game and I'm quite optimistic; this is a hard league with little between many of the teams.
