Burton Post Match Debacle

Horrendous game from pretty much everyone involved in a blue shirt tonight. Genuinely think Zak Whitbread had the worst debut I've seen for a long, long, while; he was made to look like a pub player by Calvin Zola. Pearson clearly thought he could give squad players a chance and get some players match fit, which is understandable but you cannot do that with 8 changes. Including 2 centre backs.

So many individual errors across the board, two great finishes aside and it could have been even worse. The only positive that can be taken would be that we may finally see no more of the likes of Waghorn and i expect a massive improvement on Saturday evening.

If Blackpool had been playing in the week like us I wonder if he'd have played more starters than he actually did.

He rightly thought he put out a team good enough (and they should have been) to get past Burton, whilst perhaps keeping people back for what he knew was a big game on Sat.

What I find quite interesting is the sheer blind loyalty of the majority of our fans to Nigel Pearson. Its almost commendable!!!

It seems that If you dare to question him on here that you are shouted down as someone who knows nothing.

Well he sets the team up, he chose to put in a centre back pairing of two players coming back from injury. He chose to pick Gallagher etc.

What has this man done to gain such reward and loyalty from our support? Won league 1? Whoopee do. We are not in that league any more, we are a well financed championship team. It's not unreasonable for us to expect a win vs burton Albion. Even in the dark days of David pleat we would expect a win over a team like that.

People seem to make every excuse possible for our manager on this forum.

Can we deal in facts. He's had over 10 months now, for those who are not sure.. This IS his team. Our frailties are still the same ten months later. We still ( apart from tonight ) dominate games and lose. We still fail to gain any sort of consistency.

Can someone please tell me what has Pearson actually improved at the club since he came back? Where is the measurable improvement? I can't see it, nor can I see any sign of it.

Not happy.

Does anyone else think there's a similarity with Sven's Millwall debacle - abject performance against a poor side resulting in a humiliating defeat :-/ Wonder if the following days will be similar too...

I'm not a Leicester fan, i've never really had any positive or negative feeling towards them outside of a betting slip. I, like many people, had a rock-solid gold-plated locked-in go-faster-stripe of an accumulator this evening, and, like most, all the other teams on my accumulator won. Except Leicester.

I'll be honest, I was upset. I thought it must have been a misprint. I started to scour the Internet for confirmation that it had all been a massive mistake and Leicester actually won, and in turn I had actually won that £372 that looked so assured earlier. Inevitably, I found that it wasn't a joke, it wasn't a misprint, Burton had actually won 4-2.

I became more upset. I Googled 'Leicester fan forum' to find somewhere to vent my spleen. I wanted to find a site where people were saying 'League Cup? Pah! Who cares?'. 'I care', that's what I would have told them, I care. As fate would have it, this is the first site I found. The first thread I read was the 'Burton Match Thread'. I read it, and it made me happy. It made me happy that everyone was sad. I was sad because I didn't have any winning pennies, you were sad that you got a shoeing, and in a way those 2 negatives made a positive. It wasn't part of the plan, it wasn't an exercise for the kids, it was a stone cold shocker.

So thank you, people of FoxesTalk, the desperation, resignation & utter futility that you feel has assured a small piece of my heart stays with your club.

Having said this, I will never bet on Leicester again. Ever ever. Ever never.

Please don't hurt me.

Always bet AGAINST leicester, we all know that by now.

Just realized past times in the league cup under Pearson, 2008-09 knocked out by Fulham in the second round, 2009-10 knocked out by Preston in the second round, 2012-13 knocked out by Burton in the second round

No not really as we've played 3 league games.

To be honest we should have won this game we were really unlucky. the only reason Burton won was because Waghorn played like a pantomime oaf, schlupp likewise, Danns was just a headless chicken, Kasper still thinks good distribution is kicking the ball from one end of the pitch out for a goal kick at the other end, NP got his tactics wrong, Whitbread went mental after half time, Gally thinks that 1 decent corner a game warrants his inclusion in the side, our fans think that refs are always against us, my seat was too hard, I had a bad day today, my missus is shagging some one else (and it's a bird with a 12 inch dildo), british forces are true role models not people in celebrity big brother, when i was young we did't have x boxes - we played with dog shit on the end of a stick, what happened to white dog shit?, we wore grey flannel shorts to school even in the snow, school bus? no thanks we walked 3 miles to school and 3 miles back, computers? we had fooking fingers to count on, school - we got bummed...and said thank you to the teacher afterwards or else we then got caned.

Ha ha ha best post I have read. Genuinely made me laugh out loud... Having read the last sentence you obviously went to Loughborough grammar school too!!!

I don't want to argue with you, but he made eight changes for a game that doesn't actually matter in the grand scheme of things. From reports its easy to see that our first string side and playing and gelling! Just chill out, Pearson's head should be well and truly intact for a while and rightly so. It's early doors! What did you expect? A Leicester-romp-the-league special?

It's called giving a man a chance, some don't consider 6 months with another blokes team and 5 games with his own a conclusive chance.

It wouldn't matter whether it was Pearson, Sven or Jesus Christ in charge. Until someone has proved beyond all reasonable doubt they are not good enough I will ask they get given a chance.

I will start to judge him after 10/15 league games this year. Only then could I start to see a full picture of where we are going and what his signings are like etc. And most doubt will have been removed ie. his own players. A pre season with them. Some time to iron out kinks in the new team etc.

It's not a belief in Pearson, it's a belief in giving people every chance to do what they have been asked.

The problem is it did matter. Especially after 2 league defeats in a row. Any decent manager / player will tell you that a winning habit is healthy.

I don't expect us to romp the league, but as I said in my post, I expect improvement. There has been no improvement In our collection of points and ability to stop conceding stupid goals. I also think I'm quite right to expect us to do well considering the huge investment in the club. Are you saying we should be happy to be a mid table championship club whilst teams like Wigan, Swansea, reading, Norwich etc do better?

Genuinely the best thing i have read on here.

We were much much worse tonight than against Millwall.

Why thank you Mr Sherwood. I was about to reply to your post, as I too always refer to the Pleat years as "the dark days of david pleat" - i find it the most befitting of alliterations. Alas, my humble fiscal umbringing meant I was bummed not at loughborouh grammar but at St Paul's RC school (Gwendolin road site formally corpus Christi). I believe the saying goes that we had it harder there!

Yes and we played better against Millwall.

Errr it's a cup game not a league game, this isn't our first choice 11. You cannot compare the two really.

The ref blew his whistle and we were shit, he blew it again and everyone went home. Pearson cracked a few skulls.

Sorry, obviously not making myself clear........ :/

I wanted details on how well Whitbread and SSl played, I was 'guaranteed' By someone on here that one of them would sort out all our defensive woes......

Unfortunately I can't remember by whom, so I cannot take the piss in an appropriate manner :(

I think Whitbread started well but soo deteriorated because he was nowhere near match fit, by the end he was a liability. SSL was just crap all round.

You're obviously frenzied at the loss, and rightly so, it is frustrating to see us loose in any case. BUT, it still doesn't matter in comparison to the humungous amount of points left to play for, please realise that.

The problem with this game, as we're finding out the hard way is that anyone can beat anyone on their day, and we're slipping up a lot, that isn't just down to the manager, we just can't convert the on paper sides to actual victories, and thats the difference between us and the highlighted teams above. They do well when it counts. Us as fans don't make it easier for a manager and team with our ridiculously high expectations, would you say those teams expected promotion in their respective years of triumph? Maybe thats the deciding factor?

Well it weren't me as I don't think SSL is up to much and have never seen whitbread, although he does come highly rated by Narrrch fans.

The problem Pearson has with tonight's result is that in the pre-match interview on Radio Leicester he clearly stated that this was a competition that "we want to do well in".

I turned the radio off at 4-1 but having read the majority of posts it would would appear that the team he has put out tonight in his own mind was capable of a result and he has clearly made a very poor judgement call which concerns me more than the result or any individuals performance.

The post-match rhetoric was quite familiar too.
