lavrentis Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 A while back I was getting a blood test and the student nurse burst a vein in my arm and I saw my arm swell up with blood. Made me feel sick Broken both my arm bones and had an infected finger. Sexeh. Anyone else got anything?
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 I tripped onto the blade of a sellotape dispenser when I was 6 or 7. Left a pretty angry gash on my leg, I remember seeing nothing but a hole and blood. Off to the Royal for stitches, and the scar that remains is still pretty big.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 Also, it seems like a lot of GPs have nurses that are spectacularly bad at drawing blood. I've had it done twice. The first time they couldn't find a vein and the second time she (a different nurse) found it but I nearly passed out, and I'm not even squeamish about bleeding or needles. Both times I've had my blood taken at Glenfield hospital's "blood room" and it's been quick and easy, but now GPs aren't allowed to refer people there...
AKCJ Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 I had a Eduardo/Aaron Ramsey style leg break at school playing football. Worst pain i've ever (and will ever) experienced
GLC Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 Almost snapped my Lateral Collateral ligament, apparently it was hanging on by millimetres, I've had surgery to fix it Stretched ligaments in both of my ankles as well and fractured 2 ribs
NewburyFox Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 I was cycling down a slope on the Isles of Scilly 7 years ago, headed to the left side of the road in order to take the right corner at pace, the bike lost all grip in the gravel and I fell, must have slid a fair way. Had the usual grazes all over, inparticular the right elbow (which I don't think was cleaned properly, the skin never did return to its usual colour) but worst of all, the pedal (I think, not entirely sure what made it) left a right nasty gash high up my left leg. Was just a bloody hole, circular rather than the Rooney style gash, probably 2-3 inches in diameter, and fairly deep. Blood everywhere, absolutely soaked my shorts. As I was in the middle of nowhere and had no phone, I had to cycle to the hospital in that state. Probably should've been stitched, instead had Steri-strips, thus pulling the wound together. Not a nice scar, and bloody painful. Spent the rest of the holiday on the sofa reading Half-Blood Prince
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 10 September 2012 Posted 10 September 2012 I've had a 'Beckham-esque' broken foot; I've dislocated my left knee 3 times and my right knee once; I've also broken my arm - all football related. Funnily enough I don't play the game anymore. Dislocating my knee was fvcking painful! Thankfully, on three of the occasions my knee relocated on its own. But on the other occasion it stayed out and had to be put back into place by doctors - didn't feel a thing (was as high as a kite).
Father Ted Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Had a clash of heads playing football about 8 years ago and ended up with a 'tennis ball' on my forehead, like Sol Bamba did at Derby but twice as big! Was odd to look at.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Fused left foot, and metalwork from my foot to above my knee.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Broke my nose playing AFL had it all squeshed over my face, no blood tho. Getting it snapped back in to place was funny as my mother decided to come in and watch, as soon as she heard it snap back she threw up and i was just laughing.
Simmsy Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Inflamed spinal cord. (Quite proud of that one.) Also broken both bones in my wrist at the same time.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Went do a 90s fancy dress party dressed as a Mighty Duck but didn't have the huge shoulder pads underneath so kind of made it upbu strapping kick boxing shin pads to my arms and shoulders. The plastic rubbed and rubbed on my arms but I was so steaming I didn't feel it, the next morning I woke up on the bed and my arms were stuck to the sheets thanks the the HUGE blisters that had formed. I had 5 on each arm each around double the size of 50p but when they filled with water/pus they rose to about 10mm of the surface of my arm, they took weeks to disappear and there are still faint marks now that look like birth marks.
Parafox Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Inflamed spinal cord. (Quite proud of that one.) Also broken both bones in my wrist at the same time. You need to elaborate on this... I assume both wrists were in plaster...
Simmsy Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 You need to elaborate on this... I assume both wrists were in plaster... Sorry, I meant both bones in my left wrist/arm. Had to be held in place with pins and was put in plaster up to my shoulder.
Captain... Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 You need to elaborate on this... I assume both wrists were in plaster... You've never heard of the wrist bone? Broke one of the little bones in my wrist, as well as fingers and toes, had my head stitched up 3 times too, the worst was breaking my rib, not very gruesome but painful as fvck for about 6 months, and still gives me gyp now about 18 months later, the worse bit about it is the cvnt nailed me on purpose in a game of footy, we had had a little coming together a few niggles but we were hammering them and he was getting pissed off, just ran right through me. He was a big cvnt as well, didn't realise it was broken at the time, just carried on playing, why take a friendly game so seriously you actually try to hurt someone.
Charl91 Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Sports hernia wasn't fun. Still have no idea how I got it either. I'm assuming I did it at the gym, but I only realised I was in a bit of pain when I was at the pub.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Fractured Metertarsal, not actually that painful but not being able to walk is really annoying. Dislocated Thumb, that was bizare, also not that painful until about 3 minutes after I put it back in myself. The worst one I think I've only really relised how serious it was at the time with a bit of life experience. Got knocked out playing Rugby aged 13 and lost about 30 minutes worth of memorey was talking absloutle garbage, came round in the changing room with the worlds worst headache, couldn't tell where I had been hit as my head hurt all over. couldn't sleep properly for a week, couldn't keep any food down for 5 days, was off school the entire week, dizzy for about 5 days, weak all over. I was lead to believe these were the symptoms of a normal concussion (they are not)
Zingari Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 i tripped on the stairs at filbo and broke my hip....... flask

Also the fact that it appears quite easy to knock someone out.
cambridgefox Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Dislocated my shoulder 6 times in one day playing rugby, the 1st time it popped in and I carried on playing for about 5 mins before it came out again, this time it took ages, went back in ,got changed went again I even drove home!! I was going to Malaysia and was having my booster jabs the next day so would wait and mention it at the docs,it just kept coming out so went to the hospital,I really messed it up ligament damage was bad and I couldn't throw a piece of paper in the bin without sinking to my knees in pain for a few months.Luckily it hasn't happened since which I've heard is unusual ,but I am careful it's been about 12 years so I'm hoping it will be fine.

I gave up rugby cuz of it
cambridgefox Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Although not myself my cousin was fairly good at skateboarding (until this) he jumped on top of a rail that has the vertical bars and was sliding on the top with just the board part(I'm sure there is a name for the stunt but I'm old) anyway he fell off at speed got his arm caught and just snapped his arm.4 operations later and metal plates he is as good as new,I was told his arm looked like it was hanging off at dodgy angles.

I think you mean grinding.
cambridgefox Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 I think you mean grinding. Cheers,im sure there are a fair few bollock based injuries with that stunt also.
Nick Posted 11 September 2012 Posted 11 September 2012 Iron railing with arrowhead through arm 8 stitches in back 5 stitches in ear 4 stitches in eyebrow cracked head open left side 2 broken arms 2 broken wrists dislocated finger cracked ribs spinal surgery 3 replacement front teeth torn ankle ligaments bottom lip once touched nose due to swelling I've stubbed my toe a couple of times too but I still say the worse pain I've had is toothache and scariest injury cramp in my toes whilst open water swimming.
