Form is temporary...

Excuses excuses excuses, tbh I don't even care if they're true, throw what stats and you tube vidoes you want at it he hasn't played well for two years. That is pretty much that.

And your bleating about keeping three strikers happy, 3 decent strikers is a minimum! Just because gangsta Beckford didn't want to fight for his place doesn't mean another talented committed profesional wouldn't!

He has barely played for 2 years.

In the last year he has made 3 starts (2 in the league) and 5 sub appearances, in a year, oh and scored 1, and should have scored more, (you can choose to see that as a negative, missed easy chances, or a positive, is still making the runs getting in positions, just lacking in luck, hitting the inside of the post at Wolves, losing his footing against Burnley, an awkward bounce and a wonder save against Brum).

I have mentioned a couple of times the danger of bringing in a 3rd striker, not exactly bleating, and part of my overriding footballing philosophy than anything to do with Waghorn, I don't want to see us accumulating players and spending lots of money on transfers and wages when we have more than enough attacking talent currently at our disposal.

We would be in trouble if we lost both Nugent and Vardy, but we would still have 3 strikers, all with international recognition, and the likes of Knocky and Marshall, I don't believe we should be worsening our financial situation on the off chance we lose 2 players, especially bearing in mind Beckford could return in a few weeks/months.

Maybe true, but does this not give you confidence that we still have players not performing on all cylinders and we're still top of the league? God only knows how many points clear we would be had everyone been on form. Waggy not missing the chance on Saturday, Nugent not missing a sitter at charlton etc etc.

Football doesn't work like that. I think many people are wondering why you just can't be content with being top - rather than finding someone to moan about.

I am happy to be top and it is not moaning, it is constructive (for the team, not for Waghorn admittiedly) comments on how I feel we could get better and actually cerment a place at the top of the leauge, you can always improve and we aren't top by a long way it's a bit early to crack open the champagne.

Are you still banging on...

I hope Waggy plays this evening and bags... If not just to shut your moaning..

lol

Why would I be quiet just because he scores one goal he still WOULDN'T BE GOOD ENOUGH

lol

He is "obviously" doing better than Futacs and Schlupp, as he is playing ahead of them. Vardy and Nugent are our first choice strikers, I am not arguing for Waghorn to play ahead of them.

There are a number of reasons why he hasn't looked the same, as I have already stated in another post, they include, the price tag, the managerial changes, the player changes, the style changes, injuries, going on loan, being played out of position, having 2 league starts in the last 23 months.

Many of those are part and parcel of being a professional footballer. Sure he's young and might still improve, but you can't get around the fact that he's made a number of glaring misses in the games he has played. He's a striker - at the very least he should be working the goalkeeper and hitting the flippin' target. Far too often he doesn't.

Waghorn I am going round in circles so I'm not going to say he isn't good enough again, it's all just excuses, stats and you tube vidoes, if he's going to get some praise for his performances from me then he's going to have to do something on the pitch.

Why do people keep putting words in my mouth on here and arguing with me over things I haven't even said? I said he should of been managed better by sorting his attitude (lets face it he doesn't want to be here becasue he's not playing and Pearson has probably been less than sympathetic about it) or cutting our losses (which was my preferred option and he should of been on the market earlier not playing in our first few games at Nugents expense) Not that he should still be here in the first XI ahead of Vardy or Nugent.

Let's be honest, a 3 minute youtube video can make anyone look good

It is not intended to make him look good, it is to remind people what we should already know, having seen those goals already, having watched him play for us a full uninterrupted season...

...he is good.

He has looked good when he has come on in the league, wasn't at Brum, and didn't see the Burton game, but don't think the Burton game is really a fair reflection of anything.

He has just lacked a little composure in front of goal, which lets be honest the same can be said for Vardy and Nugent this season.

Think you are being kind, the same cannot be said for Vardy and Nugent because they are putting the ball in the back of the net.

Nobody is putting words in your mouth. I have just made a point saying that Beckford WANTED to leave. How can Pearson improve an attitude of somebody who doesn't want to play for us? Stroke his ego until he's wearing Pearson undies and blowing him kisses from the pitch? Well i'm afraid it shouldn't be like that. Pearson has shown that if people don't wanna be here, then they won't be. To go against this would show Pearson to his players as a push over - which would be unhealthy.

Yes and do you know why

BECAUSE HE ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO START!

And to use yours and several others pathetic arguement against you the messiah that is Nigel Pearson deemed this to be the case since his arrival here and he's got us to the top of the league in October so any decision he makes therefore has to be correct lol.

Only now because of injury and unfortuante circumstances has he found himself starting. Don't get me wrong he starts performing (for a sustained period of time not just a few games) I will change my mind but I really, really don't see it happening.

Yes it can, Nugent and Vardy missed some absolute sitters at the start of the season, as bad as Waghorn's miss at Birmingham, and they are still hardly clinical.

Your doing it again why are you bringing that arguement to the table when I am saying I would of preferred him to be on the transfer list since the start of pre season?

Dream on Captain it is all about response or having that convinction and self belief in their ability to put chances away, despite Vardy and Nugent missing guilt end chances as you put it they have responded with taking chances and scoring goals, Waghorn has never looked like doing that at all imo.

Best thing to do is send him out on loan or sell him, and bring in another striker in if we can afford to do so.

Wading in a bit late here but anyone who thinks Waghorn is a player to get you out of this division is an idiot or hasn't been down city for a while.

Really like the lad. Love his effort, love his attitude, like his style and wish he'd lived up to potential. But he hasn't.

He's one dimensional and a League One player who'll have settled there in a few years time unless he improves miraculously.

We need better cover for Nugent than him. That's not being overly critical of our players its just being realistic. I hate the doom sayers and boo brigade as much as any right minded fan but, equally, I hate the delusional happy clappers who seem to think you have to blindly support every player to be a true fan.

That is why Nugent went 11 games without a goal, that is why Waghorn still had the confidence to let one fly from 25 yards that was superbly saved by Butland at the weekend.

Best thing to do is put your negativity aside and just support the lad.

Please explain how you cut losses IF no bids have been made. If no bids are in, then we have to keep him. So you have to use what you have or dump them in the reserves and forget them.

agree. i don't deny that he has the potential to be good for us as he is only 21, he has certainly shown in glimmers that he has the ability, but is he good enough at present to be in a promotion chasing team/squad? no. he has to go out on loan imo.

hes a great lad but he isnt yet good enough and desperatley needs more game time, but i'am very confident that he will be very good for us in the near future.

Neither is Schlupp, but people don't feel the need to rip him a new one do they?

Probably because we didn't pay £3m for him and also the fact that people's expectations of what he could produce in his loan spell hasn't been replicated you could argue sub appearances and not playing in his right position has contributed to that.

Posted

Done nothing? He's done more than those players ever have. He did it three years ago and has hardly started in his preferred position more than a dozen times since then. He played 9 league games last year and scored as many as Schlupp did in over twice that amount.

Hypocrsy? You are the one saying players need to take their chances whether it be sub or starting. And seem to be advocating Schlupp being ahead of him. Well Schlupp has never done anything to show himself better than Waghorn, neither have the others.

Playing out of position bullshit? He's a striker, sticking him out wide for most of his appearances you'll get the same standard as you did with Nugent out wide. Rubbish.

I don't care who of Waghorn or Schlupp start when someone is injured. The support strikers are probably of similar ability. But whilst some get rimmed, Waghorn gets abused. Even though he's the only one to ever do anything for us of any real note.

Bang on

Why don't we just give Waggy a chance? In the absence of Vardy? He's a young striker that, like all strikers, needs game time to find any sort of form.

As others have stated, including Nige, this season is a squad effort and in Waghorn, like Schlupp, we have a young striker who is happy to be at the club and keen to impress. This matters in the big scheme of things.

When fit, the first choice will be Nuge and Vardy anyway... Or big Jones if the rumours are true.

Get behind the squad, give em a chance and just see what happens. Why do anything else?

How many chances does he need for people to realize he isn't good enough? 94 appearances and 19 goals good enough return or not in your eyes?

Why don't we just give Waggy a chance?

Because quite a few people consider half a dozen starts and a few sub appearances in the last year a chance.

I go to most games and honestly couldn't state whether Waghorn will ever regain form, I just haven't seen enough of him in his main position to confidently state that. Others think they have, that's their prerogative, but I wouldn't say that was fair.

Hey ho.

As keeps being repeated over and over again. How many of those 94 were 5/10 minutes at the end of a game as sub. Out of the ones he did start after he signed how many were shoved out wide. There are mitigating circumstances here. As also keeps being repeated he scored as many as Schlupp did from 9 league games as Shlupp got in 21.

Anyway, this is as boring as Beckford now.
