Captain... Posted 23 October 2012 Author Posted 23 October 2012 You know Danns is 29 and Beckford is 28 right? The time most players hit their peak Always heard it was 27 was when outfield players hit their peak, either way, if they are under-performing at their peak, the only way is down from here, where as a 21-22 year old going off form is not really the end of the world, look at Ben Marshall. Numerous players? That would just be Waghorn and De Laet then. I didn't really have awful views on Drinkwater and James, Drinkwater was very inconsistent last season which was true and seemed very overrated, this season he has come on leaps and bounds and im really happy to see him playing well, I don't have a problem with James I just didn't think he was the type of midfielder we should of brought and that is all. It's amazing what an uninterrupted run in the team can do for a young developing player...
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Have you already forgotten what you wrote? That i because he has been injured the whole tie Nigel has been back until the West Ham game, last season, where he came on as a sub, and the Leeds game where he started. He didn't play under NP before that... ...BECAUSE HE WAS INURED Since that season he managed 921 minutes in the first 16 games of the season under Sousa and a bit of Sven, scoring twice, but we were just awful for the majority of that period, and he never completed 90 minutes under Sven. Then for the rest of that season made 18 more "appearances" totaling 250 minutes of football at an average of 13.8 minutes per appearance, scoring twice in the process. Last season he made 4 appearances for us, 135 minutes scored 1 At Hull he made 5 appearances and scored 1. So far this season he has played 135 minutes of league football and not scored, but I just don't think that is enough football to write off some one who has proven how good they are not that long ago is getting international recognition and is only 22. Mate I'm done arguing with you your statistics and excuses wont change 3 years of poor performances in a blue shirt and if you think he's good enough to fire us into the Premier League then bully for you. On another note I'll be having a tenner on him to score at any time tonight it's bound to happen now.
Lambert09 Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 I love waghorn and I'm not sure how much more failure I want to see from the lad. I think it would be best if he left and started from scratch in league one for everyone involved.
FoxLAD Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 would it not be good for him to loan him to a champ/league 1 club to get some vital first team football? as soon as he get more confident the more confident the fans will have in him

Plus Captain Sharpnel couldn't bare to see us send our most prolific and dangerous striker on loan it would be suicide.
MattyFromLE Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Waghorn's goal against Leeds was about as meaningful as Beckford's goals in the cup. Nothing game on the last day of the season. Oh my god. Not back to this argument. So Beckford's meaningless goals in the FA Cup that got us to the Quarter finals, don't count right? Pffft. Some people on this forum absolutely baffle me.
indierich06 Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Waghorn I am going round in circles so I'm not going to say he isn't good enough again, it's all just excuses, stats and you tube vidoes, if he's going to get some praise for his performances from me then he's going to have to do something on the pitch. Why do people keep putting words in my mouth on here and arguing with me over things I haven't even said? I said he should of been managed better by sorting his attitude (lets face it he doesn't want to be here becasue he's not playing and Pearson has probably been less than sympathetic about it) or cutting our losses (which was my preferred option and he should of been on the market earlier not playing in our first few games at Nugents expense) Not that he should still be here in the first XI ahead of Vardy or Nugent. He was first choice at the start of the season and played himself out of contention with some absolutely shocking performances. Vardy and Nugent have performed better and the team has performed a lot better since he left, he can have no complaints. Pearson persevered with him for longer than I would have and he's shown next to nothing to suggest that he deserves a starting berth week in, week out. Waghorn's a squad player, he's not going to be leading the line every week, he's in the team to fill in because Vardy was out for one game with illness. I'm sure if Nugent breaks his leg or something like that, Pearson will go into the loan market, but for a couple of games here and there, Waghorn's fine. He's a perfectly good squad player and I thought he had a half decent game on Saturday - should've probably scored 2 - should've scored the one he missed from a couple of yards and the one that was heading for the top corner before Butland got a hand to it. If he starts tonight I won't mind.
lcfc81 Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 I really rate wag horn. I may well be delusional, however from what I've seen a lot of his problems seems to stem from trying too hard since the big money move. I hope he relaxes and comes good.

On another note I'll be having a tenner on him to score at any time tonight it's bound to happen now. Hope you win that bet. I love how it has now gone to 3 years of poor performances, which includes probably about 30 games scoring goals for the most successful Leicester side for a decade. Issue is, we do actually need him at the moment, as we're short on cover. Plus Captain Sharpnel couldn't bare to see us send our most prolific and dangerous striker on loan it would be suicide. And you were bleating on about others putting words in your mouth. I have never said he is prolific or dangerous, or even that he should be starting when everyone is fit, I am just so sick of these pathetic little snipey comments about someone who has barely played for 2 years, and, as you have said, right now is needed (not his fault he is currently the second best fit striker at the club). I would be more than happy to see him loaned out to get some sharpness and fitness back.

Jesus, yes I do know that, that is why if you continue to read you'll see I thought it would probably of been a good idea to get him on the transfer list in early July and cut his losses. In regards to Waghorn you make some very reasonable points and I'm not going to comment on Saturday, I didn't see it, however from the game I saw him start and the sub apperances he has that I've seen, his performances have ranged from Dog to just about average. You can't carry on a full league season expecting to challange with two first team strikers they need rest rotation and we need the ability to mix our tactics up which is exactly why someone like Kenwyn Jones would be perfect. Waghorn as fourth choice, I could live with, but then this magical run of games every one seems to think he needs will never appear so it might be better for him to go out on loan.

No one gave you any.

I find it funny how certain people on here discredit J.B goals in the Fa cup but use Waghorns 1 goal against Leeds in a meaningless game to suit their argument.

Two and a half, three years, third season you know what I mean we all know when he was peforming and when he stopped, despite the protests from some, it is that obvious! You've spent the whole thread dreaming up different statistical measures to make him look like the best striker on our books so unless your admitting they mean nothing ...... .
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 What I'm gonna do, having read all the fors and againsts Waggy is to reserve judgement. In his first spell at City he was good. Then we got Sousa and Sven in (both duffers) and he lost his way, also becoming injured. I'm gonna see what he can do now, IF HE GETS A GOOD RUN IN THE SIDE. I kinda feel I owe the boy that much before I decide whether he's going to be good enough to help us push for promotion. I'm gonna sit and watch him, see how he fits into our current style of play and then give a more reasoned opinion. I think it's really difficult making a final verdict on a player I personally have seen so little of over recent times.

I've not dreamed up any statistics, they are facts, the main point I have been trying to make is that he has played so little in the last 2 years, you cannot judge him and write him off as crap. Especially seeing as before that he was superb for us.
seenitall Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Strange how Waggy gets years and years to prove himself and Becks is elbowed out after less than a year........gotta be the 'yes boss' factor

No they are statistics, and you can prove anything with statistics and at the end of the day in football they often don't indicate what happens in future. You can argue about them all day, I should know I work with them. You say a goal 252 minutes or whatever, I can say 19 goals in over 100 league career apperances, it's subjective. I've not said he is crap, I've said he is not good enough, theres a difference!
Captain... Beckford had over 3000 minutes on the pitch last season to prove himself, Waghorn has had about 400 minutes of first team action since NP came back.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Strange how Waggy gets years and years to prove himself and Becks is elbowed out after less than a year........gotta be the 'yes boss' factor I think this is probably somewhat true mate. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends purely on your view of managerial styles I would suspect.
seenitall Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 We're first, the 'yes boss' factor seems to be having the desired effect doesn't it? Not on Waggy it doesn't
