lavrentis Posted 27 October 2012 Posted 27 October 2012 British takeaways in not serving authentic food shocker. The nation was in outrage today as it became clear that many of the Indian and Chinese takeaways across the country are serving food that does not exactly reflect the type of food eaten in those countries. "I can't believe it," said Chinese takeaway regular ken duddle, 62, "all my life I thought these balls of processed chicken deep fried in batter and dipped in metallic pink sauce with a side of ships was exactly what Chinese people were eating day in, day out." Japanese takeaway regular Finnegan, 16, from one of those funny little countries that leech off of England, said, "oh trust me darling, when I was in Japan the food was nothing like you find in yo sushi. People who haven't been to Japan don't know this, they actually think they are eating authentic Japanese food. They are such idiots, really. I've been to Japan and I can tell you the food is totally different." Meanwhile, British Indian Dr Singh reacted angrily to suggestions that Indian takeaway food on the UK may be similar to that found in India, "I'M INDIAN SO I KNOW. YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT. I'VE BEEN TO INDIA SO MANY TIMES I KNOW WAY MORE ABOUT THIS THAN YOU. SERIOUSLY, THIS IS MY CHANCE TO ASSERT AUTHORITY ON A SUBJECT AND GANEESHA KNOWS, I'M TAKING IT." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big Dave Posted 27 October 2012 Posted 27 October 2012 Indian Zest in Market Harborough is exceptional. Swatlands at the Queens Head in Saddington comes a close second.
Bayfox Posted 27 October 2012 Posted 27 October 2012 The wheel inn. Rearsby lovely food, bit pricey and needs a bit more meat in the dishes but hospitality is top draw.
jonthefox Posted 27 October 2012 Posted 27 October 2012 Paddy Martens is great, however, its on Catherine Street, so not strictly speaking in the city centre but not far, a lot of tigers fans go there after the game. Little further a field as mentioned above Grand Durbar is also very good, great food and service. Well that name just shouts indian food to me.

Oh my god ive just wet meself Anyways on topic , Cuisine of India in Wigston is fantastic!!!! If not been mentioned!!
Rincewind Posted 27 October 2012 Posted 27 October 2012 The British Indian curry was invented for late night revelers to take away the taste of cheap lager. I like them though. Not been for one for a long time The taxpayer cannot afford it.
foz.foz Posted 1 November 2012 Posted 1 November 2012 Yes we know, but we aren't in india, we're in England. So we eat these versions, and frankly they are good enough for me to enjoy. I see the Grand Dubar mentioned quite a few times, but I've been in three times and the food was average at best and the place was full of scum bags every time. Would never go back there again. Think there are 2 quite near each other, like within 2 or 3 doorways. EDIT.. not been for donkys though so not sure what it's like now a days
kam6 Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Roti @ the blues is also very nice. Closest thing to home that I have had (I eat Punjabi food far too often at home) It's in Oadby off Severn road. Spice of India is also a nice place in syston. I don't often pay for Indian food as me mam can make it so much better and I don't have to pay for it
Guesty Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Not read the whole thread so don't know if its already been mentioned - I go to Agra on London Rd quite a bit. Thats my favourite, me and my mates have been to quite a few.

Jaja (that's Spanish for haha, and Spanish tapas restaurants over here are shit) More of this and less of your homoerotic feud with Daggers and Nick.
Rincewind Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 There could be some free food available Sunday down Belgrave Road over the next week or so. Start of Diwalli. Picked up a information booklet today. Looks quite interesting. Read up on the origins of it. A trad ion food this time of year is vegetarian. May take a walk down Sunday for the switch on. See if it's worth reporting on. Just a short piece. It's the end of the Hindu Year and they spring clean and decorate their homes hoping the god of prosperity will make a visit. A load of bull of course but the legend and stories are good. It is the time to swap presents and gifts. A lot of these traditions religions etc have something to do with astromany and the solstace but thats for another thread. As the road is closed off there may be stalls selling food.
Voll Blau Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Indian Zest in Market Harborough is exceptional. Swatlands at the Queens Head in Saddington comes a close second. Found the place a bit pretentious to be honest, I like my curry houses to have stereotypical music and wallpaper. Can't go wrong with the Bengal in MH.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 The Tiffin on LDN Road always served me well. Aroma Spice in Birstall is steady as well.
TrentFox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Come to Nottingham and go to 'Kayal' in Hockley/Lace market area .... absolutely stunning. Best restaurant in Nottingahm for me. Don't expect a tikka masala, though, or you will be disappointed !!
