Bellend Sebastian Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 I've hardly eaten a thing since I started chucking my guts up on Sunday night but that menu for Cuisine of India is making me hungry
Webbo Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 What does everyone have at the Indian? I usually go for a prawn rogan josh with garlic naan.
Ross-Kemp Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Cusine of India, the food is the best Indian food I've ever tasted. However, I refuse to eat in there again ! Sayed (the owner) is a money grabbing bastard !

Dr The Singh Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 If i do have take away it's usually India Gate, it's non halal and the meat is good quality, non of that frozen thai shit quality that most take aways use!!
fox123 Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Pip's place is good - I like the fact they ask how hot you want it.

Sayed (the owner) is a money grabbing bastard ! They this week reached their target of raising £100,000 for various good causes since opening the restaurant 4 years ago. Tielemans63 Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 I love Indian food and have enjoyed loads in Leicester and for me the best by a mile is Dakshin. It used to be on Granby Street but they've now moved to Narborough Road (on the corner of Equity Road), doesn't look much from the outside but their food is incredible. The fellas who run it are lovely blokes too.
Voll Blau Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Always thought The Curry House on London Road was decent.
MPH Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 Between us all, we have probably named most of the curry houses in Leicester!
Bettsj2 Posted 23 October 2012 Posted 23 October 2012 The Grand Dubar top of Melton Rd is my favorite... probably not the cheapest but hey ho..... THIS ****ing love that place
Captain... Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 What does everyone have at the Indian? I usually go for a prawn rogan josh with garlic naan. I always go for one of the house specialities, especially somewhere new. To be honest I love all curries, even a Korma, don't enjoy anything spicier than a madras.
MPH Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 I Like a good Lamb Bhuna, But it has to be a GOOD one. None of this generic lets use the same base sauce for all of them rubbish...
ithuriel Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 Theres one out Countesthorpe, Blaby area of the county that i can't remember the name of, been there three times and it is good, Chutney & Ivy near the Curve is good too
Dr The Singh Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 Some of the stuff written on here makes me laugh, most restaurants serve shit compared to the proper stuff, people mentioning rogan josh, madras blah, blah..........go to India and they will think your mad!!!!!!!!
Soar Fox Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 Don't tend to eat in the big known restaraunts around Leicester. I tend to go to the vegetarian places and have a Masala Dosa which I'd recommend everyone to try.
Ross-Kemp Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 Right, last August there was a help 4 heroes charity night. I popped in and seen him 4 weeks before to book a table for 6 (for my girlfriends birthday). No problem. Turn up 45 minutes before it started for a few drinks, they marked my name off the little register to say we were there. 3 hours after I turned up, £120 behind the bar, several conversations with the staff, they decided they had given my table away as I didn't have one booked. He did not care about the fact I had a table booked, because in his own words "we were putting money behind the bar". That was enough for me, I refuse to go back in, despite the fact I used to go every Friday. Simply not good enough I'm afraid. And raj is right, Indian restaurants are completely different to proper homemade Indian cooking.

So recommend one where you would eat
Babylon Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 Some of the stuff written on here makes me laugh, most restaurants serve shit compared to the proper stuff, people mentioning rogan josh, madras blah, blah..........go to India and they will think your mad!!!!!!!! Yes we know, but we aren't in india, we're in England. So we eat these versions, and frankly they are good enough for me to enjoy. I see the Grand Dubar mentioned quite a few times, but I've been in three times and the food was average at best and the place was full of scum bags every time. Would never go back there again.

Have you been to Cuisine of India, Doctor? I haven't, and only ask because the lady I bought my house from worked as a missionary in India (and Bangladesh as well, I think) for most of her working life and she likes it because in her eyes it's 'proper' south Asian cooking. I went to that place at the top of Granby Street a while back and didn't recognise anything on the menu, and strangely enough what I had was wonderful. Fair play to them, one of the blokes we were with asked them to make him a Jalfrezi and they refused
flowwolf Posted 24 October 2012 Posted 24 October 2012 The Mouse Droppings Mem Saab ? at the top of Melton rd used to be cheap but it's probably not going to be open for a while.

The Mem Saab in Highcross is the best place I've been to lately, but Sands in Glenfield is also worth a mention, as is the Nila Palace on London Road and the Ashoka on Melton Road.
