accessory Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 These allegations are a neat way of deflecting attention from the morons who pelted United players with missiles after Hernandez scored their winner.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Think this part is significant if true. "And Sky Sports News' chief reporter Bryan Swanson identified one of the two players involved as midfielder John Obi Mikel, who was seen attempting to enter the referee's dressing room after the game"
Dan Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Here we go again This. I'm absolutely sick to the back teeth of these discussions about racism, handshakes and refs, every single fvcking week nowadays it's dominating the headlines and I'm bored shitless with it.
Dan Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Bollox Torres went down too easily second yellow. Ivanovic last man. Not his fault lino didnt give offside Some people need to get their laughable hate for man u out the way before judging. And if the complaint is over swearing and nothing else its worse as he got the decisions right This too without a doubt, whilst I thought it was a very weak performance from the officials (again), the anti Man United stuff I read on Twitter, oh my god I actually cringe at it so much.
Super_horns Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Probably somebody repeating what somebody else said...well that was Terry's arguement!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 29 October 2012 Author Posted 29 October 2012 Course Ivanovic was last man at it was a red card. You see players knock the ball past players like Torres did week in week out, go down and get a free kick, plus they all go down too easily as well, but there was contact whether Torres went down easily or not, it wasn't a dive. While all these offside goals and not offside goals are a joke, linesmen should get it right, 70% chance out of 100% that when standing in the goal, Hernandez was never gonna get back onside and that was the case, yet the linesman gives a goal when his body is miles offside. It happened in Liverpool v Everton today, really dislike Liverpool and hate Suarez but that decision was a massive joke. Too many refs and linesmen spoil big games in my opinion, and it's getting beyond a joke. Collymore and a phone caller on 606 made good points last night. A foul is where a player has been impinged by whatever method of doing what the player wanted to do. If there's contact but the player still can carry on tjen he should do. Ie saying 'there was contact' becomes no justification fot a foul. Fair play to Clattenberg if thats his reasoning. Hernandez and Suarez goals were obviously wrong decisions but the speed at which they happened makes it damn hard to call

I'm amongst the first to say that 'contact' is not the be all and end all of a tackle. You can have contact and it not be a foul and you can also not have contact and it be a foul. Torres was running full pelt at Evans, knocked it past him while Evans dived in at his ankles. Torres has had to lunge over Evans, taking a slight knock in the process. At that speed he's either going to go down or be severely hampered by Evans' poor tackle. Even if there wasn't contact It's still a booking for Evans' imo for impeding Torres who was clean past him otherwise.

The slight knock wsa not enough to send Torres down and Evans was committed, He was in. Instead in the heat of the moment, Torres decided to go to ground, whether it was a dive or not becomes a matter of opinion really, as there was contact does it give Torres the right to go ground if he feels it is more of an advantage for his team to do so or should he always make 100% effort to stay on his feet? That's what it comes down to for me, Because let's get it right no matter which way you look at it he did throw himself to the floor.

I'm not buying it, if you've played any Football/Rugby/Hockey you know that the slightest knock can ruin your stride or throw you off balance. I'm not arguing that he didn't go down easily, I just believe he went to ground because he was impeded and he was slowed down enough by Evans poor tackle that he thought his chances would be affected. Referees don't understand/don't give decisions for slightly impeding play (yet they give a free kick and a booking for tugging on someones shirt in the middle of the park ). Bottom line - Torres thought his chance was hampered enough and the only way the referee was going to see that was if he saw the foul, which he wouldn't if he'd have stayed on his feet and stumbled. How often do you see a stumbling player stay on his feet from a foul and then do **** all with it. Clue: It's almost every time, and the fouler gets away with it.

Oh there is contact, as I said and the bit you have bolded highlights, it is whether or not you believe Torres should have the right to throw himself to the floor in this instance, and I beleive he shouldn't, it is still a dive in my book, but at the same time, I think Ref's need to stop waiting for players to hit the deck to give fouls and pens as you say if they're are hampered then it's a free kick. The right decision for all involved would have been Torres stays on his feet attempts to gain a goalscoreing chance and if one is not forth coming then the play gets bought back and Evan's is carded.
Bert Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Some people need to realise that when you're running at a fast pace even the slightest touch can knock you off your stride There was contact but due to MC's positioning it possibly could've been that he seen it as a dive. Maybe Torres will learn his lesson even if this wasn't a dive in my eyes.
Filbert_Ross Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Heard a rumour he called him 'a Spanish tart'

And no one bats an eyelid?! Totally nonsensical. Heard a rumour he called him 'a Spanish tart' He's got a point to be fair.
DB11 Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Referees don't understand/don't give decisions for slightly impeding play (yet they give a free kick and a booking for tugging on someones shirt in the middle of the park ). Do you actually not understand the yellow card for that? They are easy yellow cards. A shirt pull is a deliberate act and there is no intention to even attempt to play the ball; only to stop the opponent. With a slide tackle or any sort of tackle there's a chance of getting the ball legally (you can play the ball with your feet but not your hands).

I can see what you're saying but for me, a dive is a dive. It's up to the referee to decide whether he has been impeded by the touch, yes we all know that refrees are inconsistent and favour the defending team which is unfair but it's equally unfair to pretend someone has legged you up when they haven't. I think Gary Neville is one the better pundits on TV but I'm never going to think it's OK to go down just because you've been touched, he's wrong to say players are 'entitled to go down' if they've felt a touch, you're never entitled to go down, you're either a man or a pussy, a fair player or a cheat. You're either tripped up or you're not. Just because the referees don't do their job well does not give you the right to be some sort of footballing vigilante by falling over on purpose in an attempt to make it look like you've been hacked down. In this particular incident, it's hard to tell how much Torres would have been impeded because he blatantly did dive, I might have had some sympathy if he'd have tried to carry on and had obviously been at a disadvantage. The referees do have a responsibility to discourage diving by not being so biased to defenders and particularly goalkeepers.
Guest MattP Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 I couldn't be arsed to watch any of "Super Sunday" and as soon as I heard everything coming through yet again about bad referees, dodgy goals, racism, handshakes I'm glad I didnt. Will probably not bother watching the Premiership anymore unless it's a title decider or something.

You see players knock balls past players go down and get free kicks often. Bale does it often, Pienaar does it often, Knockaert does it with us often. Torres did it yesterday, they all go down too soft as well, but they are trying to evade a challenge, plus there was contact yesterday, clear contact by Evans, plus the impact Evans went into the challenge seemed that Torres was obviously going to get caught. Forget the speed of the game, Suarez's ruled out goal was a joke, one of the worst decisions ever, two players were keeping him clear onside, and it was easy for the linesman to see.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Need video replays for every decision? I fthey were to go video my suggestion would be like the DRS in cricket, you have 'X' number of challenges and if you get it right, it is overtuned and you don't lose the challenge and if you get it wrong you lose that challenge. But it's so impractical and takes away from football IMO and I'd hate to see it.

Super_horns Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 I don't actually think Torres dived at all and he was caught but players do it so much a ref was bound to get such a decision wrong..
whitlock Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Torres didnt go down because he had his legs taken away, he went down because he was scrapped down his shin, went down in pain rather than having his legs swiped. Yes i know he probably wasn't in pain but yeah. You can see why he sent him off, looking like he dived, but he was caught, wasn't a dive, shouldn't of been a red. I hate Man united.
