Raj Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Might be the only one to think Refs in this country are alot better than most others and actually do a half decent job. sure they may fcuk up now and again but doesnt everyone. And who would wanna work under such a magnifying glass atmosphere where EVERY little thing is scrutinised. IF (and its funny how Chelski have moaned about this incident when they have lost and some of their fans chucked things at some manure p[layers!||)if he did do or say something racial it is completely out of order....i mean its not like the refs get any stick from the cherub players eh???
Guest Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 If Chelsea had won they' wouldn't have made any complaint. And that dive deserved a sending off. About time.
Mark_w Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Honestly don't think Ivanovic made much contact with Young and certainly Ashley Young looked for the foul, if Torres deserved a second yellow then for me Young probably deserved a booking as well.
Super_horns Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Might be the only one to think Refs in this country are alot better than most others and actually do a half decent job. The ironic thing is 3 of the worse decisions all weekend were by the ASSISTANTS but they seem to not get named and "shamed" Arsenal and Man U winners and Suarez "winner" Torres incident seems to divide a lot of people which says something...
The Year Of The Fox Posted 29 October 2012 Author Posted 29 October 2012 Just a load of bollox if they're complaining over 'Spanish tart'
Guest ttfn Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 I'm keen to see referees be given the power (if they haven't already) to give a free kick for a foul AND book a player for a dive in the same incident. As it happens, yesterday I thought Evans on Torres was just a foul and not a dive, but there are plenty of times when a player is clearly impeded in some way, but still simulates the severity of the offence.

Agree completely with this.
Rusko187 Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Didn't see any players creating too much of a complaint at the time, think they are just crying wolf over the racist remarks. As for the Torres sending off a simple "getup" would have sufficed and have a word with him about it, seemed silly to give him a 2nd booking over that challenge.

It looked like he got the yellow card out straight away and then he realised who it was, hesitated, and then because he had the card in his hand, had to send Torres off.
ADK Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 for every decision? I fthey were to go video my suggestion would be like the DRS in cricket, you have 'X' number of challenges and if you get it right, it is overtuned and you don't lose the challenge and if you get it wrong you lose that challenge. But it's so impractical and takes away from football IMO and I'd hate to see it. For penalty decisions, goals and red cards?
Captain... Posted 29 October 2012 Posted 29 October 2012 Defenders should be punished for what they have done, not how the attacker reacts, it is clear when a defender has made a genuine attempt to get the ball and fails, and regardless of how dramatic the attacker makes it look, it shouldn't be a booking, even if through on goal. The exception being if the defender goes off his feet and makes a dangerous tackle. If you fly in studs up and even if you don't make any contact with man or ball, it should be a booking. I'm a firm believer that there can be a foul without contact, and that contact doesn't mean a foul.
RowlattsFox Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 For penalty decisions, goals and red cards? Who decides whether to refer though? Especially for Offsides. Players and Managers (and fans) appeal for everything often without really knowing whether the decision is correct or not. Does the player involve have the say? Captain? or does the manager get to see a quick replay before making an appeal, how does he do that when the game i still going on. I'd hate to see video replays for anything other goal-lines, atleast then it's a yes or no, its either over the line or its not, every other decision has too much debate about it.
Rocket-Ron Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 No problem the society of black lawyers are on it http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/premier-league-union-backs-clattenburg-chelsea-race-storm-131642634.html WTF
Guest Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 We need to move football in the direction of Rugby. Np player can say anything to the referee apart from the Captain and any dissent the free kick is moved 10m closer to the goal. Repeated dissent send the player off. Things are out of hand in the prima donna world of football.

Things are out of hand in the prima donna world of football. They should broadcast the ref's conversations, as they do in Rugby. This would stop all the nonsense and stop the bad language on the pitch (from both ref and player) and help to understand why a ref makes a decision if he then explains it to a player. Clearly, I'm not suggesting broadcasting the ref's conversations over the tannoy, but in the world of multimedia mass-media, it is possible, through the medium of the red button on TV or through internet streaming, to have the option to switch to what the referee is saying.
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 All these ideas in following Rugby epseically the Mic's are all well and good. You all seem to forget FIFA is run by Blatter who is more concerned about getting the birds to play with no clothes on instead of addressing the major issues in football.

RowlattsFox Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 While we're on the subject of taking Rugby's rules, then I don't think I would mind having a sin-bin, or something similar. sometimes I feel red cards are harsh, particularly for the last man incidents like the Ivanovic one, when the player couldn't really avoid or makes a genuine attempt to win the ball. Even more so for goalkeepers. Red cards should be left for dangerous challenges and violent conduct.
Guesty Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 I feel a bit sorry for ref's everyone makes mistakes and they have such little time to make a decision they are bound to get a few wrong - admittedly some act like pricks which doesn't help. You have commentators who use technology and even after 2 replays still come to the wrong conclusion then just laugh it off going 'ref's they've got a hard job' and move on or go 'whats he doing' then see the ref was correct and brush over it - yet will hammer the ref when they're wrong after the game. Ref's need a bit of help nowadays. They can't win with the diving thing because no one knows how much contact is sufficient to cause a player to fall over and the FA don't have the balls to act retrospectivly. I can see it getting to the point where some of them have enough and quit - or even worse the top officials go on strike. Just imagine having Championship refs in the Prem and League 1 refs for us. I'm pretty sure we'd all be clamouring for them to come back. It happend in the NFL when top officials went on strike - fans and players welcomed them back with open arms when they realised even though they make mistakes it was relatively few compared to lower down officials.
Itsthejoeker Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 Referee's get constant shit from fans, managers, and players, but as soon as one loses his rag and says something back there has to be a media shitstorm, ridiculous.
MattyFromLE Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 I think the FA need to make it easier on the ref's to make decisions before we can realistically look at ref's being "respected" / not-abused by fans and players. The FA/Fifa/UEFA need to go with goal line technology etc - and use video replays if the team affected by a decision want to. Otherwise, this will happen over and over, and over, and over...
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 Any way back on subject Is Spanish Tw@t considered to be un-pc now Does this mean I have to stop calling Finners a welsh twat?
Captain... Posted 30 October 2012 Posted 30 October 2012 Any way back on subject Is Spanish Tw@t considered to be un-pc now Does this mean I have to stop calling Finners a welsh twat? If that is what he said, then it sounds like Chelsea trying to make a point, (although I thought it was Spanish tart), Clattenberg's defence being, well he is Spanish and a tart, to which they will reply that Terry got done for calling Anton Ferdinand a black cnut, and he is black and a cnut.

Either a sin bin idea or just a dismissal for that game but you can play the next match unless it's considered violent
