Forest Post Match 2-2

Don't worry chaps, apparently these decisions even themselves out over a season, I mean think of all the times we've been given dubious penalties this season.

Like the game with ........... oh wait. There's been none.

But, the Blackpool game was soft people say? Pfft. Had more to do with the fact that the ref turned down 2 stonewall penalties minutes earlier, and the crowd was baying for blood. The sad fact is, Palace got 3 penalties in 1 game last week, and that's almost certainly more penalties than we're going to be given in the whole season.

Even themselves out my arse. In all the years I've been watching City, we never seem to get any more than a handful of penalties over the course of a season. We certainly always seem to come out of a season having conceeded many more than we've been given.

We hadn't had one for over a year before today. You'll get the dodgy ref eventually.

Must've been around the time you got that one against us at the city ground when Schemeichel was sent off. Wonder if this will even out when we play you again!

Waghorn was outstanding; clearly lacking confidence in front of goal but nonetheless very very dangerous. We should remember he's only 22, to me he looked like a tremendous prospect today. The Forest defence were terrified of him.

I had three complaints: That King was so poor (no-one seems to have noticed that his distribution was awful and he repeatedly failed to track his man, including for their first goal); that Whitbread was again a liability and that we played the final fifteen or so minutes with only one centre forward (Lingard is - and played like - an attacking midfielder... Futacs was the obvious change, or Moore with Schlupp moving to CF).

That said, Whitbread IS a quality player and will get better. King has been excellent and just had an off day, whether or not anyone noticed it. Waghorn will get a goal soon and thrive off it.

I think it was 'Matt' who said we still don't look like we can score a goal. Clearly failed to notice that we bagged two today and had a clear penalty denied. I too had wondered whether we have goals in us - today I saw that we do. When you play a good side in a local derby and they are awarded a penalty that never was (and those who claim it WAS a penalty are, frankly, ****ing morons), and denied a perfectly good penalty, a point is a good return.

'Matt' also said, if I'm right, that you shouldn't blame referees for results and that it's a way of hiding behind our own weaknesses. Well, it's factual and incontrovertible that we were robbed of a penalty that should have been, and conceded one from a penalty that shouldn't. That's the difference between a 2-2 and a 3-1.

Wrong again, 'Matt'. And that's not a matter of opinion either, it's demonstrably correct.

Having just seen the replay of whitbreads tackle i am absolutely fuming that people are blaming him for that. What absolute idiots... i mean the guy makes an inch perfect quality tackle and people get on his back for it. We are complete experts at destroying players and their confidence. We really are.

Without doubt we deserved it. Cannot stand them, and Cox the faggot. Waghorn looked alright, Drinky still not back to his usual self which is a worry, unbelievable ball from Knockaert for the 2nd.

Schlupp gave the ball away in midfield crassly and Forest ran through and gained the unwarranted penalty. If Schlupp had passed the ball accurately there would have been no move resulting in the penalty.

lol I'm calling WUM! Schlupp also started the move for the 2nd with a quality bit of skill at LB, looked solid today.

This was discussed on a Forest - Leicester facebook banter page and I told them not to worry as records like that always end at Leicester especially if they involve the ref. Unfortunately I was right about that. Hopefully also predicted we would score from a corner but that didn't come true.

I'm sure one day we will get a bit of luck that actually alters a game.

From being at the game and having watched that 15 min youtube vid:

- LCFC were great - everyone was 7/10 at least. Dyer, Waghorn, Nugent, Knocky were all constant threats, never gave up on anything and created lots of chances. King and Drinkwater were sound in midfield and creating chances of their own too. Morgan was, again, awesome. Schlupp was outstanding defending and supporting the attack, if he can keep up his form, given the length of Konchesky's absence, Paulo might struggle to get back in the team.

- The Penalty - At the time I thought it wasn't a penalty but I did think Whitbread was stupid to "go in like that" but having seen it again countless times from several angles, he had every right to go in like that because he made a brilliant tackle. Ref messed up big time.

- Chances and Waghorn's chances in particular - I don't think this game was the same as some recently. Lately we've been saying "if only we'd taken our chances then the game would've been ours" but that was often through games with lots of half chances, but in this game we had 2 or 3 quality chances that I think we did the best we could with. Waghorn's shot off the line - brilliant defending. Waghorn's header - world class save.

- Our penalty appeal - clear handball! Didn't see it at the time but, it's so clear it's criminal. Either the ref will say he didn't see it, in which he should be, so he ain't good enough, or he'll say it was ball to hand. The whole handball rule needs clearing up anyway, if it was ball to hand but he stopped it going in, surely that's a penalty anyway? who knows....

Another LCFC vs Forest fixture ruined by Sky and the Ref.

I really hope no one is going to spout that "It all evens itself out" business.

1 - It doesn't

2 - Even if we get a dodgy penalty next time out, isn't that just massively unfair on that team?

3 - Even if it does even itself out, what about 'Dad & Lad' who've just scrubbed together £80 to come and watch their only game of the season, and had it ruined by a Sh*t Ref? It's not even for them is it?

The fact that he had such a clear view of it was staggering when Sky showed it on the replay.

There was actually one angle where I could see why it might have been given (it still looked incredibly harsh even from that angle), but from the way the referee looked at it, I don't understand how he thinks it can possibly have been a penalty. He sees Sharp get half a turn in, Whitbread's leg comes across and the ball stops dead. What does he think has happened there?!

Plus as sharp turns he shoves Zak in the chest :nono:

Soory but im confused as to how you can basically scissor someone in the box, get a light touch on the ball, and that warrant it to not be a foul. Yes he got the smallest of touches oon the ball but it was a ****ing abysmal challenge, mistimed and clumsy. He took more of the player than the ball by a long way and it was a definate foul.

It amazes me as well how they can go on about Gillets 'handball' the ball was leathered at him at 70 mile an hour and hit hi arm, there was no way he could move it. In the first half the ball got smashed at Cohens arm in a similair manner and the commentators jumped to Cohens defence straight away.

Can we just have some ****ing consistency please.

Really enjoyed this post on the Forest forum.

"Basically scissor kick"

"Get a light touch on the ball"

"Fvcking abysmal challenge"

"A definate (sic) foul"

"There was no way he could move it"

"Can we just have some fvcking consistency please".

He is deluded, but that comes with being from the craphole that is Nottingham!

They are all deluded there, thinking they are gods gift to our country.

Just seen FLS on iplayer. Never a penalty.

Sharp has form. He won another 'penalty' for Sheff U a few seasons ago.

Well it wasn't a dive. It wasn't a penalty either but you can see why he's fallen over!

Should've been three points, but a combination of poor finishing and dreadful officiating cost us.

We played well, we started with a good tempo and took an early lead. They came back into it but we took control again and we comfortable until the referee decided to get involved. It was the only way they were getting back into it.

We had chances to put the game to bed and didn't, and it came back to hit us. A real shame and certainly two points dropped.

I was encouraged by the performance, but it is must win next week.

Too many passengers in the side yesterday, both Drinkwater and King might as well have been off the pitch and Marshall was woeful when he came on. Still think we are missing a leader in the middle of the park - no doubt someone will tell me I hate Nigel because of this but really I think we need a leader in the middle of the park

Stop being so paranoid.
