Larry_LCFC Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Promising performance. Played some good stuff. Ultimately, poor finishing, lacklustre defending and some awful refereeing decisions cost us the game today. Cant just blame one. They all played a part. Shit happens. We are still up there with a struggling team up next. Brush ourselves off and move on. Lets not go all kneejerk.
morris1234 Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Pretty much so... Waghorn hasn't scored a league goal this season I don't think? Are you seriously suggesting we can't do better? Waghorn is a good all round player.. But what we need is someone scoring goals to compliment Nuge. every team needs somebody to score goals, i dont see what point your trying to make in all honesty. we need an in form striker - so does everybody? we need goals? same applies. who will get us these goals? if we knew and it was that easy to find, then we would either have them by now or somebody else will have. simples smchhhhh
theessexfox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 But people can blame the referee for a poor decision. Jokes, calm down people. I meant pass, not quite sure why I said decision... And anyway those are two very different things
ScouseFox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Really?? I rate Konch highly, but watched today thinking that what we had on the left with the pace and fluid movement between Schlupp and Lloyd was pretty special and could be immense after a few games together. The pace of Lloyd may sometimes be a weakness in the fact that he has little support - but with Shlupp also bombing along he has that .... I thought it was a revelation having them in the same side and I'd keep Schlupp and Dyer together for a good run in the side. Going forward, yes, it's very exciting. Schlupp did very well for our second and Dyer effectively scored the first. Defensively it's quite weak though, it was effectively a free header for Cohen (think it was him) from every single goal kick. Don't think Schlupp won a header against him from a long pass all game.

I didn't really notice that if I'm honest. From a goal kick the centre half should be able to attack the header and Schlupp drop in behind him if that does become a consistent problem. Schlupp was slightly weak in the build up to their goal too .... but the centre mids had completely lost their men in the middle.
Bettsj2 Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Just got back to Cornwall from the game so thought i'd give my thoughts from actually watching the game. For all the talk of Forests signings being amazing and the strength in depth they have etc, we were superior to them in every single department. Cox and Sharp blazed more shots over the bar and wide than Waggy would in a season! Their midfield was dominated by a very impressive DD and King partnership and the Schluppenator was sensationally good as a left back. Unfortunately on such small margins the game was thrown away. For their first, Dyer didnt track his man at all leaving Schlupp with two men and an easy cross into the box. With Dyer's pace, should never happen. Knocky's inability to play a simple pass inside the box putting a colleague clean through in the first half and countless good opportunities created wasted in the second was frustrating to say the least. The penalty was simple unbelievable. Even more unbelievable is some fans willingness to somehow lay blame at the feet of Zak. He made a perfectly timed challenge that was being applauded by everyone around where I was in the ground, only to be followed by complete disbelief at the award of a penalty. For me, Whitbread and Morgan looked comfortable all game and played quite well as did the team on the whole and if we continue to perform in that way, we will be promoted automatically. Besides the result, the only down side was some fans reaction to Ben Marshall. The kid is obviously completely divoid of confidence at the moment but we know he has quality so what is the right thing to do as a supporter? Try and gee him up, get behind him and chant his name as was the case when he entered the field of play? Or, when he tries to put a cross in that hits the side netting shout, '**** OFF MARSHALL YOU USELESS ****. GET HIM OFF AND FUTACS ON. BOOOO'. I was with a Forest fan and he turned to me and commented on how shocked he was that we would treat one of our own players like that. On the whole, it was an enjoyable game and worth the 500 mile round trip, even more so when I heard NP's interview after the game. I was in K1 am the atmosphere was superb. Keep up the good support and cut out that negative shit as it helps nobody. BLUE ARMY!!!
indierich06 Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Did anyone see Bernie doing the Mobot and then threaten to punch a steward in the East Stand earlier? Well funny.
foxfanazer Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Great grace from O'Driscall. credit to him there. Yeah fair play, good to see that
morris1234 Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Yeah fair play, good to see that I too thought this. Very refreshing.
Mark_w Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 And I don't get why now that Beckford is scoring everyone is glad, so we can ship him out in January? Surely lack of goals + our striker in form elsewhere = put him in the team when he gets back? I know he hasn't done it yet, but now he's proved he can score in this league, and we're moaning about our poor quality of strikers. I'm beginning to think I might seem a bit more obsessed with the Waghorn debate than I actually am, so this seems like a good opportunity to reaffirm the view that selling Beckford in January would be fantastic business from us, because frankly his wages are absolutely ridiculous. That is all.
Hack Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 I dont think you can really moan at Waghorn - his chances missed were really unlucky. Okay, the kind of tap in one, he couldve took sooner, but if he hit it and the forest player who was sliding in had blocked it (which looked likely) I'd be more annoyed than a clearance off the line. The header was just a wonder save by Lee Camp, it was on target at the end of the day so we cant really complain Absolutely correct. He had a good game, just unlucky not to score. he will very soon.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Yes it was Officials will make errors Waggy takes his chances.. Game over Waggy took his chances and a great save from Camp and desperate last ditch defending right on the line. He's not psychic and know where people are going to be before he shoots/heads. I'm not having this Waghorn can't finish - not today!

Mark_w Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Fair point, but excluding wages what would you do? That really depends on his attitude and whether or not he wants to replicate that here. You look at the way he celebrated that first goal he scored for Huddersfield, he seemed more enthusiastic than he ever looked in a Leicester shirt. I think he's got a touch of DJ Campbell to him, brilliant by the seaside (Or in Beckford's case Yorkshire), but just isn't going to do it for Leicester.

Father Ted Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 If you can't see that, despite his all round game, Waggy couldn't hit a fookin barn door, you are a bigger tit than even I thought. We played some great stuff today and if we had a second good striker it would have been over by half time. To give Waghorn MOTM today displays your general inability to analyse a game. To draw today's game was scandalous. It should have been a controlled victory. As I said in the week, if we had another Cottee or Dickov in the side we'd be 10 points clear by now. Today demonstrated why. Oh so I'm a tit now... Waghorn is a similar player to your Cottee and Dickov, just needs to score more. Who would your solution be then?
Guy Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Waghorn needs to be dropped. Simply not good enough in afraid. Waghorn is definitely not the same young and hungry player he was during his loan spoell here in Pearson's first reign three years ago. It happens that way sometimes unfortunately. Despite what's been said about Beckford's questionable attitude in the posts, all the same it makes his being allowed to go out on loan to rivals Huddersfield ridiculous now, even though I know he's presently injured. Didn't he score a hat-trick against Florist last season, even though in an FA Cup replay I know.
TrentFox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Okay - the beer has kicked in now and I'm coping a bit better with what I thought was a dull performance. But this Waggy Camp wonder save thing ?? Waggy shouldered it ! It never touched his blooming head !! And it was a good save, but Camp was waiting for it as it had no pace on it. In fact he makes a bit of a meal of it in the end ! Am I alone in thinking that ? Has nobody else seen the replays by now ????
kingfox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Did anyone see Bernie doing the Mobot and then threaten to punch a steward in the East Stand earlier? Well funny. legend While walking to the ground, there was some Emo Leicester fan in front of me, and the helicopter came over him, so he just shouted out, that's fookin massive. Then I have a guy sitting behind me, proper legend always likes to shout shoot, but when the kids were going round in them orange t-shirts, he just shouted at the top of his voice hahahahaha you've been tangoed

Fez of Mahrez Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Just seen the penalty decision. That is a shocker. Ref was perfectly placed too, terrible.
glenelgfox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 I don't often post on here but it is fascinating reading post match! Watched the game live on the box last night sadly Sentanta Coverage down under is not as good as sky as you get no pre, half time or post match interviews etc. Two poor decsions by the ref re the penalty and the non penalty but as others have said we should have had the 3 points stiched up by then. Without going through all of those who took the field - here are my thoughts: Schlupp - looked ok at left back - decent performance overall. Whitbread - very average in central defence, too loose and doesn't read his opponents when they attack, gives way too much latitude and is caught back peddling and out of position too often- we need SSL back in a hurry. Waghorn - no doubt he tries hard but his first touch is generally poor and his lack of confidence for want of a better term on his non preferred right foot cost us two goals. At that level a striker should be putting them away. King - doesn't do enough IMO given he has great passing skills and positions himself well but I though last night had no real influence. Drinkwater - busy all game but end result didn't produce too much. Knockaert - tries to be too fancy all game and coughed up possession in good parts of the pitch all game. He looks confused at times as to whether he should dribble past everyone and then shoot or just shoot when he is open? I don't see enough of City re full live games to really comment but those I do see I get the feeling we are the worst team in the Championship for not looking threatening from corners?
Guest ttfn Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Just seen the penalty decision. That is a shocker. Ref was perfectly placed too, terrible. The fact that he had such a clear view of it was staggering when Sky showed it on the replay. There was actually one angle where I could see why it might have been given (it still looked incredibly harsh even from that angle), but from the way the referee looked at it, I don't understand how he thinks it can possibly have been a penalty. He sees Sharp get half a turn in, Whitbread's leg comes across and the ball stops dead. What does he think has happened there?!
