Webbo Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 The club denies it was about the song. http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/20121113/club-statement_2262950_2979668 Hibernian FC today moved to address supporter concerns around action taken by the Club against the Stadium Announcer. The Club stressed that speculation that the action had been taken as a song played may have offended supporters of another club is not correct. Rather the action has been taken because the individual chose to wilfully disregard specific instructions given in the pre-match briefing which itself was consistent with guidance given during the week in the run-up to the match at Easter Road Stadium on Sunday, which was broadcast live on television
Carl the Llama Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 Those instructions being "don't play Tax Man by the Beatles"
Ross-Kemp Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 It didn't offend the hearts fans at all. It's because all tracks played have to be approved by the club. This one wasn't.
notnow john Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 There must be a long list of tracks he could have got the sack for. I'm going for- The hearts filthy lesson. David Bowie Total eclipse of the heart. Bonnie Tyler. Anymore?
AyewJoking Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 How about N, Sync's Tearing up my Hearts? At least he went out with a bang, Hearts only have a fans collection totalling £21.35 to look forward to.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 What about jessie j. We don't care about the money money
Fox92 Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Great story. The lyrics to 'Taxman' are brilliant though.
acooling08 Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Would've been great to put 'Sunny Afternoon' by the Kinks on as well
Captain... Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Didn't they play jailhouse rock for Jamie Lawrence somewhere when he got out, he found it funny, when did the world become such a humourless place. If any team is ever bought by a Japanese business person, I fully expect other clubs to play a bit of turning Japanese.
Guest MattP Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 I like it, I remember in the mid 90's the mascot at Kilmarnock ran towards the Celtic fans lobbing bars of soap at half yime when Cher's "Gypsys, tramps and thieves" played, more of this sort of stuff please.

Please tell me you can actually see the difference between these two stories.
