Fox92 Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Starting to think he is Pearson's best signing for us, including his first time as manager. I've always rated Morgan as a defender, but like him even more here. Gets his body in front of everything, hardly beaten, great in the air, he is just a leader. He isn't the best defender in 20 years, but he is our best central defender in a long time.
Neil_LCFC Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Isn't Gareth Mcauley playing for a top 3 premier league team at present ? he can't have been too shabby. In all seriousness Elliott , Walsh and Taggart are the 3 to beat.
Adster Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Agreed with most hear so no point me repeating what others have posted. Seriously though I'm yet to see a more solid defender in the Championship this season.
Leicester_Numan Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 I've made a bold statement by asking whether people think he is the best defender for us since 1987. The reason I say 1987 is because a match against Swindon in November of that year was the first I ever attended and I have to say he maybe better than my beloved Steve Walsh - my favourite ever player for us !! What do people think?? Did you walk out with 10 minutes to go at 2-0 down? This is the game that made me determined to always stay till the final whistle. If we could be so absolutely garbage then score 3 to win the game in the last 10 minutes then anything is possible in any game
ithuriel Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Behind, Elliot, Taggart, Prior and Walsh by quite a margin but if we reach the Prem then we will have to see.
deanolegend1989 Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Probably the best defender we have had since 2004. Matt Elliot is a legend.

What do people think?? Funny enough that was the first match i ever attended 0-1 to Swindon and if i remember right Walshy got sent off for elbowing some guy!
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Isn't Gareth Mcauley playing for a top 3 premier league team at present ? he can't have been too shabby. In all seriousness Elliott , Walsh and Taggart are the 3 to beat. McAuley was surronded by shite and therefore had a much harder task, put Morgan in that side he'd struggle. Put Paulo Maldini in that side he'd of probably struggled!
Leicester_Numan Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Funny enough that was the first match i ever attended 0-1 to Swindon and if i remember right Walshy got sent off for elbowing some guy! You don't remember rightly, November 87 was a 3-2 win, in fact I don't recall any game ending with a 1-0 win to Swindon back then
accessory Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Funny enough that was the first match i ever attended 0-1 to Swindon and if i remember right Walshy got sent off for elbowing some guy! That would have been Shrewsbury - August 1987. David Geddis got the winner and was smashed in the face a couple of minutes later. The ban handed out to Walsh for breaking his jaw was the longest in league history at the time for an act of violence. Back on topic, when and only when big Wes does the biz for us in the top flight season after season should comparisons be made with the top City centre-backs of the last 25 years. At the moment, he ranks alongside the likes of Nikos Dabizas, some way behind Walsh, Elliott, Taggart and several others
Babylon Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 He's fat, he's slow, he struggles against pace, he's at the heart of a shit Forest defence, he's never done anything, we have plenty of good centre backs like Mills, a waste of £1m, pathetic signing by Pearson... ...Oh hang on I thought it was January 2011.
MPH Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 The best defender i have seen down here for years.... but lets seem him in the prem before we even mention him in the same breath as Elliot Taggart and Walsh...
funkyrobot Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 This might be controversial but I've always liked it when Jamie Marko has had a game at the back. I know he mainly plays up front but 'you'll never beat Jamie Marko' has been chanted even more than the classic 'there's only one Leon crncic' . for me Jamie Marko is the best defender, striker and bus driver at the club.
