Vardy?

Hi all, Im a big city fan now living in italy. Get to see the odd game out here and when I go back but other than that I'm restricted to Ian Stringer's woeful commentary. Just wondered wat the general perspective on Vardy's overall performance has been so far this season? seems to be generating a bit of chat on the net.

shame. had big hopes after hearing some impressive reports about him at lower league. a replacement in Jan it would seem then. Who's around? Vaz Te at West Ham? He's not playing. Not too many great prospects at decent prices around at the mo.

Sometimes seems to try to hard, and also seems to play other players in instead of going himself. His workrate is second to none though, and I like him for that.

Isn't Vaz Te injured? lol

Doing quite well, enabling everyone else to play better, linking up well - scored a few too - then got ill, then got injured & is just trying to slot back in after a while out.

Scored a good amount of goals earlier in the season and hasn't been the same player since.

Don't listen to the morons who say he's never had the ability because he proved it earlier in the season. He just needs that break.

Personally I think Pearson asked too much of Vardy. It's his first season and personally I'd have eased him in gently, not started with him as one of his first choice strikers from the get go. It was a lot of pressure to stick on him and I think it's taken it's toll. He needs a goal badly.

He's not quite good enough for this level unfortunately.

He was a gamble and it hasn't paid off.

absolutely the definitive answer right here.

Some fans will tell you he puts in 100% and will 'come good'. There is certainly no faulting his effort and fair play BUT, he lacks talent unfortunately. He will end up in League 2 IMO

I'm in the same camp as you pal, willing to write him off after twenty two words.

Hoping he comes good with confidence, but looked a Fleetwood level player tonight. Yard off the game and poor first touch. Liked him up to now though and I think with Nugent he's an asset - just don't think the team can work with him and Waghorn together.

Needs a bit of confidence

I agree. He needs to have a go himself sometimes. Not every shot will come off, but sometimes I'd rather him try instead of passing back. He does need a bit of confidence though, and a goal would certainly give him that.

We talk about confidence all the time, we've said time and time again, once Beckford/Waghorn/Vardy get a goal, then they will start scoring more. They've all scored, but then they didn't score again for some time. Its not like one goal suddenly means they'll score loads, doesn't work like that, even though many people say it does.

Spot on I reckon. Waggy/Nuge or Vardy/Nuge works, just not both. A backup Nuge is what's needed, but from what people are saying might Futacs have the ability to fill that role after all?

Vardy has climbed from the Blue Square straight into the Championship something which takes time adjusting too.

Like I said earlier in the week, whether it takes most of the season to find his feet then who knows, but I believe he is capable of cutting it in this league and becoming a good player for us.

At this moment in time though, he needs to work on many things, first touch and finishing especially, he is lacking confidence in my opinion, while in some games he hasn't looked able to cut it at this level.

Lad needs time, but of course we need goals and wins, and is Vardy good enough to start at this moment in time...I don't think so.

Hate to say it but the pre-season doubters of him are being proven completely right. His attitude is excellent but... his ability, extremely limited. I'm afraid we've totally overpaid, I'm not 100% given up on him but I really do wonder how long we can give him, it's a big step up but the bloke's 25 now, he's not far off the peak of his career and he seems to still make basic errors.

Whilst I think it'll do him good in the long term to keep playing for us, I seriously don't know how long we can keep risking an under-performing player. It's such a shame because I wanted him to succeed a silly amount for us but it's been a good 15 games now and... he just isn't doing it for us.

He's not hopeless but he doesn't offer us enough at the minute for me.

Would love him to prove me wrong.

Agreed with this. It's never ever been the case and I'll chuck that into the footballing myths.

Whilst i agree with your statement, i would also like to point out it worked for Nugent.
