St Ledger out!

Recommended Posts

Seems St Ledger could be out for longer than expected.

We could be left short should Wes or Zak pick up an injury, think this needs to be addressed to protect our push for promotion.

Why do you think we re-signed Michael Keane on loan? Even if both Morgan and Whitbread get injured, we'd still have Moore and Keane - it wouldn't be ideal, but we can't just bring in players of the same quality as Whitbread, morgan and SSL just in case a couple of them get injured. IF we get an injury crisis, I'm sure Pearson would look at bringing someone else in on loan once he knows what we're dealing with injury-wise. It would be stupid to do it now.

If he stopped hopping to Ireland and London getting pissed, then he might of been back by now.

Completely agree with you here I work in sport science and can tell you now the amount of times he's on the beers will do absolutely nothing but severely hamper muscular injury recovery rate especially regarding scar tissue. I love Ledge but really he should get his priorities sorted.

Barnes et al. (2011) found alcohol to be non-detrimental to recovery, however I could be bending the research in my favour a little ;)

Haha think you might be bending the research heavily in your favour. I can't be arsed to reference it but alcohol inhibits protein synthesis. Protein is the building blocks of muscle, essential for growth and repair. Less protein utilised by the body = less growth and repair.

Well the study was based on the effects of alcohol after a game of rugby looking at the recovery of muscles, however the amount of alcohol used was 1g per kg of body mass, I'm sure SSL smashes that. So I may have took it completely out of context, I know your right I just like to be awkward from time to time :P I do sports science for performance coaching so I completely agree with you, but sometimes you have to defend alcohol!

There are lies, damned lies and statistics.

For every research there is other research to counter it.

If you really do have any Sports Science knowledge and had read about St Ledgers injury you'd know that alcohol or the lack of it would make little difference to blood trapped inside the muscle fascia.

Problem we have today is that loads of wannabes are leaving Uni with their Sports Science degrees thinking there doctors or expert Scientists.

Most end up working at McDonalds or as Sex Pest fitness instructors at local gyms.

The Sports Science graduate can be described as a Jack of all trades and master of none of them, I should know I've taught hundreds of them at my Uni.

As they say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

Right I'm off to the pub to lubricate my injured triceps........

Cheers for your input, seems as you know so much about me and what I do. I'll go tell the senior physiologist and the other members of the sport science department that have many more years of experience than me at the premiership club I work for that, banning players from drinking alcohol whilst injured is a complete waste of time and we should just advise them to drink as much as they can. You've come across as a right ignorant ****, so I have no problems in calling you a ****.

You GinG-ers 👩 are highly strung!

Players go on the pop when they want to, banning them? Doesn't work in real life!

By the way, Have a word with your senior physiologist about how long GinG-ers live compared to normal people.🙀

I wouldn't buy any box sets if I were you! 👼

That should turn you to Alcohol!

Not to worry as legend has it that GinG-ers become Vampires when they pop their clogs 👹

Not an expert on this, but surely all the travelling that he's been doing won't be helping. He'll cramp up on the journeys, be it a short one or a long one, meaning it may hinder the hamstring recovering as quickly as it could? Although, if it did I'm sure the physio's wouldn't let him travel as much as he has done.

I doubt he'd be flying cattle class when on a long haul flight. 1st class you can practically lay down.

I do know where you are coming from though.

To be honest if I was injured and couldn't take part in training then I'd probably need a few beers.

He's going to see a specialist in Munich in a week or so anyway so hopefully he'll be back sooner than expected.

Munich?? Talk about pissing money away.
