Am I being an idiot and missing something glaringly obvious?! lol

Have you checked the calendar?

Xmas eve pips NYE actually. Always in a much jollier mood.

I am aware it's boxing day.

I meant I prefer boxing day as a night out, won't get ripped off by extortionate prices and there's still a nice 'christmassy' vibe.

For NYE everyone's out trying to have the best night of their lives from my experience which has the opposite effect, each to their own though!

I agree with you and that was the point I was getting at, the day you prefer just so happens to be this fine, glorious day we find ourselves in now!

Haha I thought you were on about something completely different mate! Brains not working properly, put it down to the food and beers!

Party at the local. Getting pissed and having a laugh with my mates.

People that whine about it being overrated and whatnot are as bad as those that have to have a massive night. It's just another night, but one which everyone will be out and in good spirits on (hopefully).

Never really seen the appeal in going out in town for it so I literally never had. Been to house parties/village pubs every year and always had a good 'un.

Not really. I say its overrated so avoid going out to tje pubs

Going out in Leicester is shit. Used to go Zanzibar most years and it was absolutely stacked in their you'd wait 25 mins to get served either a shit pint, a rank bottle of Becks or ask for vodka red bull only to find they'd ran out of red bull! Jokers.

It's all about house parties with good friends and plenty of booze

Going to my missus' house as her parents have a massive stock of alcohol every year then gotta get up at like 10am to get to Watford :(

4 days at a music festival with 14 of my mates. For 5 of us we have 480 cans of beer and 5 bottles of vodka and a bottle of absinthe........just got to make sure we can sneak it all in!

That sounds like a quality way to spend a new years Roo!

Reckon there's room for a few more beers though lol

Yeah it's mint except last year artic monkeys forgot to do the new years countdown and did it at 12.05 lol

Well i wasn't sure we had enough so just poured a bottle of vodka in to 2 containers of peach slices.....it turns the peaches in to the strongest ever jelly shots

Im coming back to Leicester for a few days from London.

To those talking about inflated prices, it'll be my cheapest night out in 6 months!!! That's why I'm escaping the capital.

I'll probably stick to two or three of the nicer bars that aren't charging entry. Then carry on at home.

Flying out to Vegas the morning of nye, tickets booked for the black keys at Hard Rock Cafe at night should be a pretty epic New Years this year!

To the guy going to New York if you are going to time square get there early! I mean about 8 hours early!

Been out in Leicester, Manchester, Newcastle and Leeds on various different NYEs, and whilst I had a good enough time, I HATED queuing 30 minutes at the bar whilst crammed in like sardines, being jostled, trod on and generally barged around! Mostly I prefer house parties - either at my house or at other friends' houses. That's my plan this year too - a house party at my mate's house. Might nip into Chapel Allerton for a couple of drinks, but will no doubt spend most of the night at the house getting suitably wrecked!

New York is on my bucket list as well, not even on new years eve, just a normal day.
