Fox92 Posted 24 March 2013 Posted 24 March 2013 Hate mini-roundabouts. Is it just me? I thought it was, but, I generally find most people don't have a clue what to do. I can be sat behind someone for ages at a mini-roundabout because nobody actually gives way... I just end up going for it like everybody else. I really do think they should be removed from the roads. I have more confidence approaching a normal roundabout.

I have more confidence approaching a normal roundabout. I know what you mean. If a car arrives at each exit simultaneously, they all stop and wait for someone to make the first move, then everyone moves off together. There's so little road between exits that you can't judge whether you have right of way, or the person to your right does.

Captain... Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 Failed my first driving test cos of them little buggers, and every time I see one of them, I think, why is this not just a normal t-junction, there are very few that actually seem to serve any real purpose. If people didn't drive like dicks in the first place we wouldn't need to invent mini roundabouts such like.
AoWW Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 Watching people trying to negotiate this is always good for a laugh
SystonFox Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 just googled about this magic roundabout. looks a nightmare and a deathtrap!
Reynard Bleu Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 Too many cars, too many ego's too little road, too little thought.
Jon the Hat Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 ...and how the hell are you supposed to drive all the way around one??? Carefully.
AoWW Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 ...and how the hell are you supposed to drive all the way around one??? Accelerate into it - pull on handbrake - spin around. Easy.
rico Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 Carefully. try doing it in a Mercedes Sprinter, nigh on impossible
pSinatra Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 Watching people trying to negotiate this is always good for a laugh Seriously, WTF is going on there?
AyewJoking Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 One of the most annoying things for me is people who stop randomly to let other people out. I am not talking about in slow traffic, but in normal moving traffic, they unilaterally decide to stop everyone behind them to let some other driver out or across the road. Just drive. They will be fine, a gap always opens up. I dont want to stop, so I should not have to. Also if you are doing this for me and gesticulating like an idiot while I ignore you, that is because I can see a huge gap a couple of cars behind you, and you are an idiot. lovely.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 No doubt there's some smarmy **** somewhere who lives near that absolutely ridiculous roundabout who constantly say "oh it's easy, you just give way to the right" or something but it's obviously some sort of joke. In the modern world of driving where you have to make fast snap decisions who the fvck wants to drive through that piece of shit. And if you are involved in an accident? The insurance claim must be a nightmare! Even worse, imagine driving through that in heavy rush hour traffic! They should bulldoze the thing.
rico Posted 25 March 2013 Posted 25 March 2013 Seriously, WTF is going on there? Can anyone else see a swastika in the 1st pic ?
1964FOX Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Seriously, WTF is going on there? Funny thing is this is quite a similar junction to the Pork pie island but obviously our planners weren't on drugs. It is weird to drive anti clockwise around the central bit of the magic roundabout as your mind tell that's the real roundabout when in fact it's the only bit of iy that isn't.

I call these people Traffic Regulators. They take it upon themselves to regulate the flow of traffic, usually to the severe detriment to the designed flow. The worst cases are on roundabouts, where a Traffic Regulator will see a queue of traffic to her left, and stop in the middle of the roundabout to let people out. I'm sure the Traffic Regulator thinks she is providing an altruistic service, but in reality she (and it is usually a she) is causing carnage behind her, with cars having to slam the breaks on, other cars not knowing whether they are coming or going and all sorts of dangerous confusion.
AyewJoking Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 nothing wrong with a little defensive driving. of course when women and common sense come into it you're asking for trouble.
Saxondale Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 I'm sure they've been shamed on here before, but I can't get my head round those utter idiots who, instead of readying themselves for a traffic light change, wait for the light to go green before selecting gear and removing the handbrake. Meanwhile, four or five other cars are prevented from getting through the lights on that cycle. Use some common sense and anticipate! Mind you, I suppose it's difficult when you're engrossed in Magic FM and doing your make-up.

It's made all the worse when the dickhead in question stalls, and no one (possibly bar themselves) gets through the lights

Mind you, I suppose it's difficult when you're engrossed in Magic FM and doing your make-up. I'd like to add to this the idiots who wait until the car in front of them has long-since accelerated off before starting their own car. I feel like the people who have figured out how to accelerate away in tandem with the car in front are severely in the minority.
ADK Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 I can't really get into the whole angry driver thing. Dangerous driving annoys me though. I have to pay high insurance premiums because people in my age group tend to have alot of avoidable accidents.

Also, when somebody turning right into a side road leaves an acre to the left for the traffic behind to pass but the dozy bint at the front of the que thinks that, whilst I could whizz past in a tank, her Citroen c1 simply won't fit.
Craig Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Makes me laugh how people seem to think that the 'limit' is the speed at which you must travel; it isn't. It's a maximum, not a minimum. There are many places and many instances (particularly recently) whereby it's not safe to travel at the 'limit'. I know it's annoying when someone's holding you up doing 60 in a 70, or 40/50 in a 60, but there's probably a reason for this. What's more dangerous and annoying than this is the person behind who is trying to travel at the 'limit' or beyond, tailgating.
