Fox92 Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 To be fair you can't be 'lucky' to be 10 points clear, especially at this stage of the season. I watched Cardiff's highlights against Leeds and it seemed Marshall saved them again, he really is a top goalkeeper. Cardiff weren't the best team I've seen this season either though, Palace were better on the day (although they have changed manager's since then), and Middlesbrough played good football without any clinical edge.
Leicester Piggott Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 I sometimes worry about my sanity in logging on to an internet forum to find out what my fellows fans think of 'my' team. If I ever start logging in to other teams' forums, please can someone call round and shoot me? Ta.
Leicester Piggott Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 Sorry - forgot to add. Fraizer Campbell can suck my balls.
Carl the Llama Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 I thought Crystal Palace fans we're the most deluded in the division until I had a look on here Firstly the table doesn't lie you can't be 10 points clear and be "lucky". Your basing your opinions one 1 game at your place where you had a good spell in the first half and should have scored.Once we actually took the lead I can't remember you having a clear cut chance, especially in the second half marshall had hardly anything to do,hey we could have even made it 2 with a late chance.I don't judge a team to be "lucky" to be where they are based on 1 game. We have the best home record in the league losing only 1 game and drawing 1 game the rest are wins. We have comfortably beaten leeds (at home) ,wolves blackpool, burnley , middlesborough birmingham etc and if you we're watching we blew blackburn away at their place. Yes we have had some narrow away wins but your not going to look good and playing pretty every single week. You say we've had a wealth of money spent on our team and should win the league, yet I'm sure if you look at the facts in the last 2 years you've spent alot more than us so surley it should be you winning the league if you go by how much money we've spent! Ignorance is bliss when you don't want to admit we're the best team in the league Fact: If you include the silliness that was the Sven era, then yes you have a point. Fact: Under Pearson we've thankfully trimmed a lot of our outgoings to make ourselves a fiscally leaner side and yet somehow the 'big spending Leicester' tag sticks. Fact: Under Mackay you've bloated quite noticeably in that area. Fact: If you think Palace or us are deluded, you clearly haven't seen OTIB.
Saxondale Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 I wouldn't particularly call Cardiff lucky this season, nor would I say they're the best side in the division. What they have had so far this season is a winning mentality. They've won quite a few games where they've not looked superb, but they've nabbed a result - that's what it's all about really.
larrylloyd Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 My final post on this thread: Cardiff City are ten points clear!! For over twenty games we have had no real 'box player' no renowned finisher. So we have looked less exciting than other teams. But we adapted, learned to keep it tight at the back and make sure when the chances came along, we took them, then stayed firm. Leicester? great side, but hang on a second, boring Cardiff have STILL scored the same amount of goals!!.. Lads we have watched our side all season, some of the football has been uninspiring to say the least, but we have pretty much beaten ALL the top sides in the division, including you, on your own manor. YES, first half you gave us a bit of a drubbing.. but second half, even though you were then chasing the game... you had TWO shots on target. Thats how solid we were. All I'm really saying is.. like Leicester, we now have a renowned finisher at this level. Frazier Campbell WILL score goals. We have seen our team drag out results. I believe now we will start winning games by 2-3 goals. By any standards a win at Leeds was an impressive result given their last 6 home wins on the bounce. Irrespective of the 'Big Spending' tag we seem to have picked up, we have not paid much more than £1m for any player. Malky Mackay will not blow money needlessly. We are going up, and already know we have over 30,000 season tickets applications We are going up, and already know that there are probably only a handful of our players that are really good enough for the Premiership. But thats cool, Mackay was told he could spend up to about £5m in the January window... he spent just over half a million. We will do our spending in the summer. "Cardiff will be a joke in the Premiership"? Again, dont hold your breath. Nothing is left to chance at our club any more. We needed a goal-scorer precisely because YOU bought one and have upped the pace. But the table does not lie. You have Chris and are STILL ten points behind us. Leeds away had 0-0 written all over it... But our answer you Chris Wood scored within a minute of coming on. Worry about Hull Gents, or Boro, or Watford.... because I dont think we are going to lose FOUR games on the trot whilst you WIN four games and overtake us. Not unless we implode, and the Dave Jones days of bottling it are just a memory.

I'm not sure if this post of yours is an attempt to convince us or to convince yourself? Either way, good luck. We'll see if you're still crowing when you do have a blip (that will come, its just fact) and lose a couple in a row. I don't think you'll blow a ten point lead, but your lot are nowhere near as confident, flawless etc as you think and you're not as from from the Dave Jones era as you'd like to think. I don't think you'll blow it - but its more important what your players think when that bad run comes.

Not unless we implode, and the Dave Jones days of bottling it are just a memory. And I didn't think Man City would make up the gap on Manure last season - that you don't think it will happen means nothing. Doesn't need to be on the trot - all it takes is us to pick up 10 more points than you in the next 17 games, when we're still to play each other once more. We win that and all of a sudden it's a 7 point gap, a couple of draws where we've won, or losses where we've drawn and we're breathing on your necks again. 10 points clear is a nice position to be in at this point, but there's a third of the season still to play, don't be so foolish as to think the title is done and dusted for you.

This after losing at Bolton 2-1. Since then we have won 11 drawn 2 lost 2 Best way to look at it is thus: Cardiff City have seventeen games left. If we can win seven of them and draw two it will put us on 86 points. For Leicester to overtake that conservative total they would need to win TWELVE of the last seventeen games. Do-able I'd say, your playing pretty well!!!. But what if we win EIGHT of the last seventeen games ... We still have NINE home games left, suddenly Leicester have to win THIRTEEN of the last seventeen.... Your too far behind. Accept it, and keep your eye on the fellers below you.

We'll just do what we need to do and we tend to do quite well if we press and play to our strengths. When NP does his ridiculous - 'stand off and let them play' routine, we look dreadful, but he thinks it takes him look tactically flexible, bless him.

Leicester are playing too well too consistently now for the teams around them to keep pace. Our style of play has been hampered somewhat thus far because we have had Maynard out and no natural goalscorer to replace him. Joe Mason gets his share but hasnt over-impressed me. Campbell is perfect for us. I was chuffed to bits to see him between the penalty spot and six yard box within two mins of coming on. Eight wins will make us a shoe-in for the title in my opinion. We have seventeen games to do it, including nine home games. Teams are waiting for a collapse that just wont happen with this manager and the squad he's built. Leicester to catch us? I just cant see it. But for TWO of the teams below us to overtake us? No chance, only you lot look CAPABLE. We WILL go up, as Champions most likely, but if its as runners-up? .... as if we give a **** Then a big revamp of a relatively cheap squad in the summer to ensure we dont go backwards

Corky Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 So? We're 10 points clear but you seem to think you're a better footballing side than us so whats your point? I think we're a better footballing team, more entertaining to watch, but you have been more consistent and able to grind out wins, which has been our biggest letdown.
Zingari Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 It will occur 2013/2014 for the first time. And possibly last time. Really ?Have they never both been in the top flight at the same time before ?
Carl the Llama Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 My final post on this thread: Cardiff City are ten points clear!! Is that why you're still posting? [...] Irrespective of the 'Big Spending' tag we seem to have picked up, ... About that, not so long ago I compiled a list of our spending under Nigel (so stretching back to before Christmas of last season) and of your spending this season to enable a comparison between the two, before posting my results. I submit for your perusal a truncated version of said post: Pearson era signings: (Morgan - 1.125m, Marshall - 1.1m, Drinkwater - 0.9m, De Laet - 1.125m, Wood 1m, Knockaert - 0.9m, Whitbread - 0m, Vardy - 1m, James - 1.25m & Futacs - 0m [and Nuge on a free or was that a Sven signing?]) for a total of 8.7m, compared with the offloads (Mills - 2.25m, Bamba - 0.9m(?!), Peltier (0.75m), the loans of Danns & Beckford, and the departures of Vassell, Paintsil, Weale, Howard & Tunchev) for a total of 3.9m, leaves us with 4.8m in the red minus whatever we've saved on wages since Pearson came in. *Incidentally we're about £1.5m in the red for this season alone*Looking at Cardiff's transfer business this season: IN: Campbell - 0.75m, Maynard - 3.15m, Noone - 1.26m, Smith - 0.38m, Connolly - 0.635m, Bo-Kyung - 3m, Velikonja - 2m, Mutch - 1.25m, Kiss - 0.63m, Lewis - 0m, Helguson - 0m, Bellamy - 0m = 13.37m OUT: Blake - 0.5m, Gerrard - 0.45m, Miller - 0.64m + a load of frees = 1.59m = 11.78 in the red + whatever extra you're spending in wages on the likes of Bellamy & Helguson & Noone... That's the biggest spending deficit of any Ch'ship club, followed by Hull at around £8m, then Blackburn at around £5m. In conclusion I think it's perfectly fair that you have picked up the 'big spending' tag (though I'm not convinced that's the case outside of this forum, certainly most people still seem to think we're the league's big spenders).
The Doctor Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 Your too far behind. Accept it, and keep your eye on the fellers below you. We really aren't. 10 points with a third of the season still to go, far bigger margins have been overcome in far less time - something the 08/09 season should have taught you all too well. I'm not saying we will manage it, but it's certainly still possible, the title is nowhere near sewn up and you better hope your manager and players aren't quite so cocksure.

Better footballing team? Well I wouldnt argue that point, but we have lacked that goalscorer all season. We have (if im being honest) not quite clicked in the final third enough. I think Campbell will give us what Wood has given you. But even if he doesn't... we're not going to get any WORSE

Carl the Llama Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 Oh THAB (you can stop pretending you're not the same person now), are you really so keen to wum that you come onto a Leicester forum and post in a thread about Cardif but still maintain the pretence that you aren't a Cardiff fan, just some shining knight of virtue from Hull? The fact that you even think that seems like a believable scenario betrays your (lack of) intelligence. You might think that you were being banned because we can't handle your brilliance, and that's fine, you support the redbirds of Cardiff so it's no surprise that you have strong self-deception mechanisms in place, but the fact is that your posts are too much wum for us to have to put up with. This is a proper forum, hence your other fans being allowed to have their say and us agreeing or putting an alternate point of view across, but don't think for one second that we allow any old mindless/childish/annoying/rude behaviour. If it offends you that our points of view don't revolve around masturbating to "CB39" (seriously?) or some other Redbird dross, then I suggest you go back to the Cardiff City board where you can carry on telling each other that you're special and ignoring the real world.
