Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 Both strikers. Both Belgian. Both of Congolese descent. Both big. Both strong. Both playing in the West Midlands. Both born in the 1990s. But who is better?
Guest BlueBrett Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 If I had to pick one I'd go for Lukaku. I just think romelelagram probably has the potential to develop furthest and is less far along his developmental road.
ScouseFox Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 Both about on a par right now probably. Hence similar scoring records, style of play, stature of club etc. But Lukaku will have a better career. Only 19 and into double figures in the PL in 23 games, huge chunk coming as a sub too. Impressive stuff and contracted to Chelsea.
sdb Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 Good question. Both destined to be top class players imo. Think Lukaku will go further.
JonnyBoy Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 the votes represent that Benteke is crap! IMo i think Lakaku just edges him.
AKCJ Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 Lukaku for me. Benteke seems to be either great or shit. Lukaku seems to play well everytime I see him.
kingfox Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 Lukaku is more powerful, awesome player. Belgium as a whole have really good up and coming players. A country to watch.
FoxLAD Posted 11 February 2013 Posted 11 February 2013 Lukaku. Lukaku is better now, hes quicker and stronger aswell. He's going to be better and being at chelsea (with the players they got there) he can learn alot more. I feel Benteke's next move would be vital on how he progresses. A future belgium partnership? Benteke and Lukaku what a force Belgium will be.
Simmo86 Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Lukaku Just needs to get himself at a decent club (i.e not Chelsea)
Charl91 Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Would just give the edge to Lukaku. But not by much. Both great players.
indierich06 Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Benteke is scoring regularly in a far, far worse team. I'd be interested to see what he;d be like at a bigger club as he's come from relative obscurity and he's had a great season. As for Lukaku, there are big things in the future for this lad, he;s the natural successor to Drogba at Chelsea IMO and I think they were mad to let him out on loan, especially when you consider their lack of striking options and how good Luk's proved to be when coming off the bench... Should be playing for their first team next season if they get a decent manager with an ounce of common sense in.
foxfanazer Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Lukaku for me. Deserves a chance at Chelsea next season. They have never replaced Drogba and he is of a similar mould imo And and just as a sidenote, I think Belgium could have a real chance of going far in the next world cup
Fox92 Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Lukaku for me as well. Seems to have everything a top striker needs.
Alf Bentley Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 A future belgium partnership? Benteke and Lukaku what a force Belgium will be. ....then throw in Fellaini and Hazard behind them and Kompany marshalling the defence. Each-way bet on Belgium to go on a run to the semis or quarters at Brazil 2014 might be worth looking at...
foxfanazer Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Potential Belgium starting 11 Courtois RDL (). Vermaelen. Kompany. Vertonghen De Bruyne Feilaini/dembele. Witsel. Hazard Benteke/mirallas. Lukaku That's crazy!
Alf Bentley Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Potential Belgium starting 11 Courtois RDL ( ). Vermaelen. Kompany. Vertonghen De Bruyne Feilaini/dembele. Witsel. Hazard Benteke/mirallas. Lukaku That's crazy! Just checked their World Cup qualification group - top ahead of Croatia on goal difference, 6pts ahead of Serbia (having already won 3-0 in Belgrade). They were held to a draw at home by the Croats and have yet to play them away, but Croatia still have to play Serbia home and away....a couple of bruising encounters - and that's just on the terraces! Macedonia, Scotland & Wales are in there as wild cards, too, so a long way to go in that group. I'd be surprised if they don't qualify, though, even if they end up having to go via the play-offs. Might be a good time to get an early bet on for a good run at 2014, before the odds come in....
Haydos Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Lukaku 'cause I've followed his progress since he did the biz for me on footy manager when he was 15.
kingfox Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Yep if Belgium don't qualify I will be very surprised. Apart from that 11, they also have Mignolet, Alderweireld, Lombaerts, Nainggolan, Mertens, De Bock, Odoi, Chadli, Vossen Probably some more hanging around as well, in the Under 21's. And I have just decided to take a look, Michy Batshuayi 5 in 3 for Under 21's, Maxime Lestienne 11 goals from the wing for Club Brugge this season, surely better than Bale
Langston Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Yep if Belgium don't qualify I will be very surprised. Apart from that 11, they also have Mignolet, Alderweireld, Lombaerts, Nainggolan, Mertens, De Bock, Odoi, Chadli, Vossen Thanks for that, Sports Interactive. What are their 'first touch' ratings like?
chrishlcfc Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 surprised by how one sided this vote is, i mean i went for lukaku but i thought it was a very tough choice. benteke's offside a bit too often for me. reminds me how DJ used to be offside everytime he touched the ball in a leicester shirt, but he's not quite as bad as that.
DB11 Posted 12 February 2013 Posted 12 February 2013 Such a bias time to ask the question after his goal on tv had happened shortly before!
