Pearson under pressure

Where does it say anything?

Any direct quotes?

Any concrete news of replacements from reliable journos like Nursery being sought out?

Or did some journo with white space to fill & ad space to sell around it, just do what sports journos generally do - make shit up.

Total bullocks as usual - imagine Reading & Cardiff sacking McDermott & Mackay when they failed to go up in their first full seasons. Thankfully for them they were allowed to build on a base of just missing out to go up in probably first the following season.

Our owners would continue their disastrous ownership if they were to get rid & even though a lot of our fans & the morons deserve yet another transitional season if we don't break the cycle of sacking managers, some of the fans who would like to see a project at least get halfway through, don't.

I don't think our owners have been disastrous in any way, nor have they been trigger happy.

Sousa was a disaster, always was going to be. They made mistakes with Sven and the spending, but learnt from this and brought in a ' championship' manager and embarked on building a team of players who were not big time Charlies.

I don't see them interfere with the playing side ( a'la abrovich ) nor do they do stupid things like forest did with SoD.

They have bought the stadium back and invested heavily in the stadium and the training ground.

The owners have always made it quite clear that promotion is expected this season, NP himself has said that. It is therefore no surprise that some Journo makes up a story like this as it is clearly stating the obvious.

The chances of us going up if we sacked a manager at this point in the season would have to be low, who does that when still in a position like we are? Perhaps nobody does but I can see why they might do it, with Adkins out of work. I have heard, Pearson has met with the Thai's this week regarding our poor form. This might have a tiny element of truth to it. Let's hope we win tomorrow and nick a win against Cardiff and try and mount another charge. We have the ability, just need that consistent quality.

Show me where the Thais say this season

It's obvious we've seen a big uplift & it's obvious to many that throwing it all out the windows & having yet another transitional period is not the way to go about things. Especially when the maximum investment for next season is £6m.

£100m later the league table shows us in the exactly same position we were in before they arrived where NP got us with an approximate £7m investment from Manderic he's got us again despite getting rid of 30ish players & signing players for the midterm not the short term that lead us to midtable mediocrity.... The £100m is not the end of the spending with a sizeable number of Sven era contracts still here. There's still more balancing to do.

A key reason NP was appointed in the first place, so I suspect they'll look back at the end of the season and see a good job done if we don't make it & of course an excellent job done if we do.

I don't think they'd sack him actually. We have a huge wage bill and debt, with Pearsons reputation he's the right man for the job. Pearson and his team are excellent at decreasing wagebills and finding young quality footballers that aren't after a massive wage packet and don't come with huge fees. That said. Who knows what they'll do. I'd definitely question what they're trying to do, by sacking a manager, giving him a pay out, employing a new manager, giving him a new bundle of money, to get us further in debt - when Pearson has built a good base, a few quality additions in the susr should we not go up and we'd be title contenders.

I don't get this - 'a few quality additions and we'd be title contenders'.

I don't think this lies specifically with the players. Our problem is that we are horrifically one dimensional and we have been found out.

Pearson has effectively shrugged his shoulders and refused to innovate.

Lets spell it out for you. We have been found out this season because we don't have the personnel to have a multi-dimensional, multi-formation team.

For the most part Pearsons "uninnovative" team have done very well. I don't think the players looked "jaded" or looked as though something was wrong.

The first half against Leeds we looked up for it. When they scored heads dropped and understandably so. Did you not see all the players celebrating like we had won after we equalised? The team moral and ethic is still there.

No. I didn't go.

I don't need your opinion 'spelt out', although I admit, it would be refreshing if you could tell me about this 'team moral,' - perhaps whilst 'spelling it out' for me. Ironic, no? (Hint: 'Morale'.)

Seems like a bad result, regardless of performance may see the back of this absolute cvnt, so i'll be hoping for that come 4.50 Saturday evening...

How about palace who were nearly relegated last season? Or Watford?

Watford have cheated. That's why they're in the position they're in. I know they've acted within the rules but their actions remind of millionaires finding loopholes in the tax system to avoid paying the amount they should. It appears that the rules will be changed next season and this kind of unethical behaviour will be prevented in future.

Palace have done better than us, I admit that. Perhaps a bit fortunate to have two very good academy products and possibly the best striker in the league but there's no arguing they're "beating" us this season. Also, they were definitely not almost relegated last season, 16 points clear and finish 17th. Even so, they've impressed more than us but not by much.

You know what I meant.

I don't understand how you can't grasp the concept of adding a few quality players in the summer and letting Pearson finish the job. He has got us so close this season, with having to reduce the wage bill, get rid of players who don't want to be here and replacing them with cheaper options. We all thought earlier in the season that we were still minted, and by the sounds of the reports regarding FFP - it sounds like we are trying to keep a tidy budget. So in that respect, Pearson can't go out and sign another defender, midfielder or whatever the majority think we need. It is possible that the bottomless money pit has been emptied.

My point is, is that Pearson's signing this season have been good. Knockaert, Drinkwater, De Laet, Morgan (I know he was last January), if he was given chance to make a similar amount of changes, players like Gallagher, Wellens Vardy maybe could be shipped out - and our bench would look a lot stronger, giving us more depth and another dimension.

Well my point in response, which I don't expect you to understand, is that simply collecting decent players is not good enough. With the Thai money, most managers could be reasonably expected to do that.

My criticism of NP, in both his tenures, is that we are incredibly, incredibly one dimensional. Probably the most one dimensional side I've ever seen. There is absolutely no plan b and nor does NP seem to be developing a plan B or addressing very very serious issues in the squad.

If you think just sprinkling in a few better players is the answer, then that's your opinion and I respect it.

I disagree however, there needs to be more time spent on tactical considerations and a bit of innovation, adaptability and resourcefulness to get something from games when teams have set up against us to nullify our completely one dimensional approach.

That's my view. You won't change it, but you're more than welcome to 'spell out' more naive (but admirably loyal/brainwashed) opinions if you like.

Quite a lot of other championship fans view us as "cheating" with our perceived money.

Personally I don't think Watford have cheated. We have the finances at our disposal to bring in top championship players like Morgan and Wood, Nugent etc. we have spent our money in a different way.

Not enough credit goes to Zola for making a team out of a bunch of loanees. When Sven brought in a bunch of loanees at city they were accused of not really caring about the club and not being a team. I think what Zola has done is very impressive to mould them into a team who actually look like they care.

And I agree on palace, 17th is not quite relegation material ( my bad ), however it is a damn sight worse than we finished with considerably less finances. They may have zaha but his assist and goal figures are not as good as knockaert, and it's all well having Glenn Murray but we have wood and nugent who are far better.

Nope, I don't think lcfc fans are wrong to question why these teams are above us, I think we are being far too accepting and hiding behind the shield that is " your not a fan if you don't support Pearson ".

Wish I had some 'perceived money'.

In fact, I look forward to NP splashing out on some perceived players very soon. Or perhaps we could use it to fund the ridiculous settlement alongside his perceived P45.

Of course he's under pressure, he always will be like most other managers. If he fails and we don't make the playoffs as a minimum then the owners will get rid, there is little excuse for not achieving that goal.

If we don't turn around current form as well then I'm sure they may seriously consider a change.

Okay, we've slightly under achieved this season but it happens. We're not going to live up to our potential every year but is that a good enough reason to sack Pearson?

I understand why fans might be frustrated but it seems that the majority of people realise that getting rid now would be a backwards step. And that's all there is to be considered, would sacking Nigel be a good move even though he's apparently not done a good job this season? If the answer to that question is no then there's little more to be discussed, yes there are criticisms people have but there's simply not enough to suggest that we should change our manager now.

They certainly will, with Chris Powell the likely candidate.

As much as I admire Chris Powell the job would be too big for him imo.

If the Thais are considering sacking NP they would have to have someone lined up cannot be doing with the farce after Sven was sacked when no one was lined up. It is unlikely to be Adkins because he cannot manage another team till the summer so that leaves 2 options Roberto Di Matteo (would be very ideal) or Paulo Di Canio ( an erratic manager potentially brilliant or could be potentially very risky).

For the record the redknapp story was true.

Exactly, every time these manager stories come out many we hear the tale that its the papers just looking to make a story and then the truth comes out. The mad dog 1 was the best example noone believed the story that Milan was going to get rid and then 2 days later he was gone
