Pearson under pressure

Well my point in response, which I don't expect you to understand, is that simply collecting decent players is not good enough. With the Thai money, most managers could be reasonably expected to do that.

My criticism of NP, in both his tenures, is that we are incredibly, incredibly one dimensional. Probably the most one dimensional side I've ever seen. There is absolutely no plan b and nor does NP seem to be developing a plan B or addressing very very serious issues in the squad.

If you think just sprinkling in a few better players is the answer, then that's your opinion and I respect it.

I disagree however, there needs to be more time spent on tactical considerations and a bit of innovation, adaptability and resourcefulness to get something from games when teams have set up against us to nullify our completely one dimensional approach.

That's my view. You won't change it, but you're more than welcome to 'spell out' more naive (but admirably loyal/brainwashed) opinions if you like.

Sorry, you can't say that you "respect" someone's opinion then call it brainwashed.

I agree with your point, and funnily enough I understand what point you're making. Yeah, we could switch tactics, adapt player roles. But do you not see the correlation between being one dimensional and having a restricted squad? If Pearson went out and bought players in that we could utilise in a way to make us adaptable, then isn't that effectively solving your point?

I think Pearson's stubbornness with the squad and line up is as much to do with his own methods as it is the group of players we have. We all mention playing 3-5-2, 4-1-3-2, but if we haven't got the personnel, then we can't play that way right? I agree in the way that Knockaert and perhaps Marshall are wasted out wide, but that may be because they have developed their game.

I don't know. I don't think your opinion and mine are that different. I think we can both agree that Pearson needs to utilise what he has in different ways against differing opposition. For example, I would have started with Waghorn and Marshall against Leeds. Knockaert barely got a kick because he's not strong enough and wanted too much time on the ball.

Pearson is damned if he does & damned if he doesn't. He can't win with a subsection of fans.

He rests Knockeart on Blackpool's impossible pitch... and the same faces pipe on here calling him for resting one of our better players.

Trying to reason or offer your opinion with some people... you may as well just fart in the wind.

They can't see the return to sustainability that otherwise would have threatened the existence of the club

they can't see the young nucleus of players that will improve over time & with it the team

They can't see that the options for mixing things up when you've got rid of 30 bits of deadwood get more limited.

Pearson needs a strong finish to the season... then imo even if we don't make it... he's made himself a solid base to build off & he's got every chance of emulating Mackay & McDermott who came close in their first full season at Cardiff & Reading, but didn't make it and went on to lead the division in their second full seasons.

I think that's pretty reasonable & importantly a sustainable way to build for continual improvement sidestepping the transitional season we have every other year.

Sacking Pearson with 10 games to go would be stupid. There's not enough time for a new manager to install his system, get players that fit the system, etc. Pearson has been let down by some players, who were not mentally tough enough. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Doesn't surprise me, he's been under pressure all season and it was only going to take a small bad run for the pressure to mount.

If they want to get rid there's nothing stopping them, hopefully they've got someone better lined up and we can improve.

They sack him and I'm not bothering with a season ticket next year. He's done wonders for this club, our team is going through a rough patch and all of a sudden we think the grass is greener? would be disgusted if it happened.

Posted

Its not just a bad patch though is it? We've been worked out and NFP has run out of ideas and I think the players see that.

If we go 1-0 up in a game, I think we'll be fine and also credit to the side for drawing level against Leeds - but we just can't break down sides who set up for a nil nil and are no longer tight enough to even guarantee that every time.

There are a few people who have no intention of renewing should NFP still be here next season.

I can assure you they will not be missed by anyone... would be nice if you do not bother going to any games left this season either.

We've got the 3rd best home record in the division, with the second best home scoring rate and the best home goal difference. We've dispatched two teams by 6 goals for the first time in god knows how long. One by 4 goals and two by three goals.

Up until the last few home games in my opinion it had been some of the most entertaining football and games for a long long time.

What is it you expect from your season ticket exactly?

You Vill enjoy ze fussball at Leicester City if Herr babylon says so - resistance is futile

Do you not like winning home games?

Scoring lots of goals.

Not conceding many?

As I said... if you don't like what Pearson has produced at the large majority of home games this year, what is it you want exactly?

Past glories Babylon. When we get a bit misty eyes about the good performances under Sven, you soon slap us down! The football (when it was good) was much better. Admittedly the lows were shocking but strangely NP has now found the same problem as Sven. We can only play one way and we've been worked out.

Oops!

This is an excellent point. Can't believe some people on at all.

Its donuts like you that have no idea on how to build a TEAM. Oh no, or lets change the manager and he can bring his own players in....BANG back to square 1.

Past glories? What about 3 or 4 games ago? For me, when we have been at our best we have been as good as anything we produced under Sven... and we've achieved it with players we actually own and not paid a kings ransom to borrow from a premier club for 6 months.

You are right people know that chucking 5 in midfield will stop us playing and a large flaw has been the lack of adaptability to this. It could ultimately end his career here, on the flip side of that he could fix the problems in his second summer transfer window and bring in one or two players that make that bit of difference. As Reading and Cardiff did... who knows.

The problem appears to be that when given an opportunity to bring in another player, he opted for a striker, suggesting this midfield issue has stumped him (or he refuses to acknowledge it)

I do believe as well that he has left us exposed in a few areas on the pitch and has alienated a few players, although I don't rate any of them hugely highly, which is a relief.

He has not done an awful job, but I don't get the fawning over him. He has spent quite a lot of money and we are hardly brilliant. We have indeed put some poor sides to the sword, but the table doesn't lie. Our current position, with our level of investment, wageroll and the time NP has had, is under-achieving, you simply can't get away from that. Spin it anyway you like!

And how much time should he be afforded to sort a problem out that was apparent to the average fan 6 months ago?

So if we finished 5th, and went up through the play-offs...you'd count that as under-achieving?

I'd Thank him very much and get in a premier league manager straight away, and save the 10 games of torment at the start of the following season before the inevitable sacking.
