daddylonglegs Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 A lot of people are saying on here about how Drinky, Richie and co slow down our midfield. Why not play a guy with a lot of talent espeicially going forward, energy and a great work rate, someone who gives their all every game. Pearson maybe needs to put personal issues with Danns aside, as I've always thought he's a top midfielder.
Harry - LCFC Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Danns isn't as bad as some people make out, if he calmed down a bit then he'd be a much better player. Offers something different to our CMs. I wouldn't have him starting but it's not so ridiculous to suggest that he could still play a role at Leicester. Unfortunately his personality just isn't compatible with Pearson's plans.

Where do people get this gossip from Danns is just pretty crap. However, elevated to average now he's at a pretty crap team. He wanted to play football though & not being a patch on Drinky, King, James, even aging Wellens means he has to go on loan to play - or forever sit their moaning on the sidelines.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 as I've always thought he's a top midfielder. This is why Pearson is the manager not you
Ashley Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Honestly? A goal warrants a place in our side? Neil Danns average player at best, people loved him last season because of his 'headlessness' all he does is run around a lot wouldn't offer anything better than we already have. /thread.
Guesty Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I do think he offers something different to all our other midfielders so wouldn't be bad to have in the sqaud, but he seems the sort of player who refuses to sit quietly on the bench not playing. Whilst I doubt Danns and Pearson have had a massive fallout like some speculate it was strange that Peason changed his squad number to 8 and has never started him - you'd think if he had no intention of using him this season he'd have left it as it was.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 What a long time in football one season is. Last time out at Derby, Neil Danns absolutely ran the show and was easily our best player. Possibly his best performance in a City shirt.
MikeyT Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I always found him a bit of a headless chicken just running around and more often than not just giving the ball away. I think we're better off without. But if he was to appear back in the squad and play, I'd still obviously support him.
Guest Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Any match day on here is a massive bore with these inevitable threads second guessing our club when a former player does anything of note. You know what, sometimes players that are no longer playing for us will have a decent game from time to time.
Ross-Kemp Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 He runs round like a headless chicken. That's the only reason people 'rate' him. Average at best.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Another? Is that his first in about 15 games? Feel free to correct me.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I've always found it a bit sad that 'fans' so quickly dismiss players who are now deemed 'surplus to requirements' It comes across to me as a 'Fook em now they ain't our players' attitude. Well I'm not sure whether Danns wanted to leave City, albeit on loan? I'm pretty sure he joined the club wanting to play in the first eleven and to 'do his best'. I still remember the run of form he had last season where he was showing all the 'work-rate' that City fans seem to desire. I concur, sometimes excessively! But there were no signs, to me anyway, of a player who didn't want to play for the club and to give his all. Regarding whether he's 'good enough', well I can't help thinking I'd rather have Danns playing in a midfield 5 rather than Wellens at present. It would surprise me if people chose the latter over the former.
Kitchandro Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I stopped reading at the word talent. I stopped reading after the first sentence where he mentioned our slow midfield. Knowing from the thread title it would be about Danns I noticed the flaw in the plan with some ease.
whitwickfox Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 For gods sake cc star or what ever you call yourself, Pearson made Danns captain in a season he was playing out his skin. To say he is crap is just stupid, or didn't you ever get down to see him play
Walker Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 To be honest, I think he's being made to look good quite simply because he's playing with such poor sides! I don't mind him personally but he's played for Bristol City and Huddersfield this season, hardly setting the world alight are they?
Fox92 Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Different player to our other midfielders. Don'trate Danns' end product, but he has the energy.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Not Danns' biggest fan but some of the stick he gets is slightly harsh. Coming to the run in last season he was possibly the most important player in our team, he had 4 or 5 matches where he drove the team forward. Unfortunately he got himself stupidly sent off and for me that was the end of the season. Personally don't think he's better than any of our midfield at the moment, but we know how complacent we can be in the middle of the park. It's clear first team football here isn't going to happen, and it's to his credit to seek out playing time at other clubs. Fair to say we'd all be very surprised if he was to play some kind of role here ever again.

Haven't heard him mentioned for most of the season, yet every single one of the very few goals he gets is brought up as a reason to have him back. He's an OK player for a struggling side, just as he was at Palace. He's not up to our standard.

As I said earlier, would you rather see Wellens over Danns in a five man midfield?
Zingari Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 I like him as a player , but he possibly falls into that bracket of being not good enough for a regular first team spot and too good ( or unwilling at his career stage) to sit on the bench too often.
Walker Posted 16 March 2013 Posted 16 March 2013 Our standard currently being one win in ten Kitch? As I said earlier, would you rather see Wellens over Danns in a five man midfield? Yeah, not like the current midfield has had us in the playoffs and beyond this season is it? Throw em out!
