Andyb89476 Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 Just something completley different from all the posts, but has anyone else heard that the team who comes bottom of the premier league next season will earn the same amount of ££££££££ that Man City got for winning the league in the 11/12 season... Just for coming last...

Fox42 Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 Unlucky for QPR since it doesn't apply for this season...
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 But will they be happy? I suppose if spent wisely it could help them come back up the following season though? Maybe?
Fox92 Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 But then we'd be relegated. I'd rather us go up and become good enough to stay in the division. Swansea are a great example of how to do it, and they even got a trip to Wembley/won a trophy this season.

raba Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 How much is that exactly? With the new tv deal it's supposedly worth about £90m including parachute payments. Obscene amount of cash to get smashed week in week out.
Fox92 Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 True, but it took West Brom a long while to stabilise. True as well. Stoke are a good example as well. Get something out of games such as Wigan, Villa, Newcastle etc Enjoy trips to Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal etc and if we get anything it's a big bonus.
Jugsi Posted 3 April 2013 Posted 3 April 2013 And we're losing £30m a season on an average Championship squad, imagine what we could lose in the prem!
wurmer Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 It's gonna get harder to compete with the relegated teams in the Championship from now on..
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 It's gonna get harder to compete with the relegated teams in the Championship from now on.. Which makes this season sadly much more important
Swiss_tony Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 yes indeedy, the financial gap between pl and champ is a big problem with the ffp rules kicking in. parachute payments are exempt so qpr et al will have a big advantage over the rest of us.
Raj Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 I heard it was THIS season...60 mill for the bottom club....more than Man C got for being Champs!!
Raj Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 Im sure talksport were going on about QPR losing 60million from Tv rigfhts deal this season if they are relegated.
yorkie1999 Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 This whole thing with sky pumping more money into the premiership is crazy. The point of FFP is to stop clubs going bust from having to shell out too much for their players. What sky are actually doing is encouraging teams to spend more by giving them more. All that will happen is we'll end up with the same players on twice the money they're on now with their agents getting higher fees because they know the clubs can afford it.
ashfosse Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 Regardless of FFP and money, this was a big season for us. The relegated teams and even the promoted teams aren’t as strong this year, as they will inevitably be next season. Makes it even more painful that we’ve f**ked it up.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 I think this demonstrates just how important it is to the Thais to gain promotion this season. Imo it is silly money though.

I agree we've f**ked up over the last couple of months, but the seasons not over yet. IF we beat brighton, we'll be back in the playoffs and then anything can happen. You can't say the teams coming down will be stronger next season, richer yes but not stronger.
MooseBreath Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 We've already positioned ourselves ready for not being promoted, that's what the big cut in wages and numbers has been for. It could also be why Pearson is still in a job - because his task was to prepare us to be competitive within FFP, which he has done, not necessarily to get promoted this year. But the parachute payments will open a vast chasm between relegated clubs and ordinary championship clubs. It's just one of the reasons why this so called "Financial Fair Play" is anything but fair and is likely to rid the sport of any realistic competition, much to the delight of the established elite.
