Guest ttfn Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 In all honesty ttfn, I don't think that is an objective argument. You say you are not expressing an opinion but your assertion that there was a lot of sense in her views (do you mean policies - since this is what we must judge?) is one of opinion and not fact. An opinion shared by Blair et al, possibly, but an opinion nonetheless. Yeah I think there was a lot of sense in her views. And a lot of nonsense in her views. She was in power for 11 years for goodness sake. Blair was in power for 10, there's a lot of good he did and a lot of bad he did. Unless you've got a maniacal dictator it's going to be the same across the board. My only problem is with those taking pleasure out of an old lady's death. If you didn't like her policies, fine. She's done a lot of damage to a lot of previously strong communities in this country (as I said in my first post) from which they may never truly recover. But celebrating a death does not sit right with me, particularly when it is of a lady who if nothing else shattered the glass ceiling of British politics.
Daggers Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 You poking fun at someone having a stroke is a laugh? Never mind who it is your just a scumbag for it mate if I'm honest, people have died because of the after effects of it. Duh...really. Fvck me, I never thought of that. But the thing is, and this is obviously a really tough thing for you to grasp, the gif was directed at one particular person and not all suffers of strokes. Go to bed. Go have some Horlicks, a cookie and snuggle down. You are out of your zone here and will only embarrass yourself.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Everyone who's criticising Daggers here and struggling atop their favourite high horse (relocating from their Pearson-fence) needs to actually understand. He. Does. Not. Care. And in fairness, why should he care what you think? Why do you all care so much what he thinks? Those who are down in the dumps about it? Good for you - you are really good people. Hope you feel super smashing great, never fall off your high horse (seems its a long fall for some!) Those who are partying, great, enjoy yourselves. YOLO! Those who don't really care - again great. No one is going to convince anyone else, so lets just debate which of the Coors we'd all like to spend a night with and who on here is most likely to go for the fella. Moose Breath. That one's for Daggers.
The Doctor Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Apologies, can't multiquote on phone - no tffn, I do hate Hitler. As for celebrating her death, heat of the moment I was pretty pleased but thinking about it it was a tad over-the-line, and I regret doing so. I'm not going to mourn or show respect, but partying was a bit too far.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Yeah I think there was a lot of sense in her views. And a lot of nonsense in her views. She was in power for 11 years for goodness sake. But celebrating a death does not sit right with me, particularly when it is of a lady who if nothing else shattered the glass ceiling of British politics. If you elevate any to a position of public interest there will be a reaction when she dies. This reaction is true and heartfelt in my opinion. The media has hardly created it. I'm not saying she deserves it or its right (who honestly are we to judge by the way?) but if its honestly the way people feel about it then so be it. Also, empty words aren't going to change when this is an outpour of years of bitterness, are they?
LJS Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Thatcher fought Europe throughout her tenure and occasionally had to give in under the weight of pressure, as I'm sure you're aware, you are just attempting to paint things to suit your argument. Thatchers anti European stance was what eventually bought about her exit from office so I don't really think you can ever accuse her being weak in that regard. Again, I don't think you could ever claim her policy's towards Ireland were weak, if anything I'd say her policy's swang to much in the other direction. And then there is the relationship with Regan, which was very Churchill esque. Don't get me wrong I am not pro Thatcher, If anything I am anti thatcher I quite enjoyed my free milk and one day is went, that's the only direct effect she ever had on me. However I am not going to raise a glass to her long term suffering and death as a result. It's ridiculous I'm not trying to swing anything. She spoke a lot about Europe but her actions were not consistent with the rhetoric. When it came to it she signed powers away. That's just a fact. Her anti-Europe stance certainly wasn't what brought about her exit, at least not alone. It did result in her falling out with cabinet colleagues but being strong on Europe with colleagues is not the same as being strong on Europe with Europe. Se wasn't. The reason she was dumped was because she was deeply unpopular with voters by that point and the Tories were trailing twenty points behind Labour im the polls. As always, politicians acted when they thought keeping her in the job might cost them theirs. One thing really annoying me about the coverage of her death, by the way, is this bollocks assertion that she had any influence at all in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Anybody who has studied that period of history will know that the USSR imploded because they'd spunked all their money on the military and allowed impoverished citizens a glimpse of their comparatively rich western counterparts. Even Reagan had **** all to do with it, although it could be argued that his mental Star Wars stuff made Soviet arses twitch in the realisation that they couldn't compete with his imaginary space missiles. Anyway, I don't mind the tribute bullshit in the media because that's what happens when people die. But making things up is something else.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Or, you know, he could have been comparing people judging Thatcher despite not being alive when she was in power, with people judging Hitler despite not being around when he was in power... But there is no comparison between the two. As I've already said to you, one killed millions, the other upset half a country. It does not take a deep knowledge of history or poltics to condemn a man which tried to wipe out a race of people, to say the same of Thatcher is incorrect, hence his analogy is terrible, as there is no comparison.

Zingari Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 i'm not sure if it's Thatcher's death or Daggers return , but the forum has picked up a bit of interest today
Tempwan Yierban Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Time to bring back some other controversial threads.
Rusko187 Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Duh...really. Fvck me, I never thought of that. Nevertheless one day you'll open your eyes and realise how much of a sick fvcking **** you really are.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Child, if you are going to advertise your wholesale ignorance on the internet then prepare to be made fun of. Come on then. What especially have you got a problem with here? In the post you're quoting. Put your Special Brew down for a moment and let us know WHY you think it's ok to celebrate this old lady's death. Educate me as apparently I am in need of educating.
Daggers Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Someone fetch me the burger chef, I fancy mirth at his expense...
Deucalion Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Hitler was a right wing nutcase, Thatcher was a right wing nutcase. It's just a case of degrees.
Mark_w Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Really?? Your gif seems like your also poking fun out of strokes! Nevertheless one day you'll open your eyes and realise how much of a sick fvcking **** you really are. It really doesn't.
Voll Blau Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Comparing Thatcher to Hitler wouldn't be libelous anyway, libel laws don't apply to the dead.

Why do people kepe playing this old lady card? It's such shit. If you think somebody's a **** you think it whether they're 27 or 87. You don't get a free pass for being old and ill. ***** get old and ill too.
Jon the Hat Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Really?? Your gif seems like your also poking fun out of strokes! Nevertheless one day you'll open your eyes and realise how much of a sick fvcking **** you really are. I'm sure he knows that already. Welcome back daggers.
Tempwan Yierban Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 It wasn't a stroke anyway. I suspect foul play. I just need El Empty to tell me who was behind it and why.
Deucalion Posted 8 April 2013 Posted 8 April 2013 Does it? Does it really? Colour you pretty fvcking stupid, then. Go pay £3,000 a year for it like everyone else. £9000
