Guest Basildon Fox Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 Is it ok to be indifferent to the news that she has died? 27 pages of bitterness and name calling. I would be ashamed if my kids had acted as childishly as some who have posted on here. I wouldn't even bother wasting my pity on them.
Rusko187 Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 It really doesn't. Yeah?? Really?? Guessing you found that crudely photoshopped image somewhat educational than! Does it? Does it really? Colour you pretty fvcking stupid, then. Tell you what you degenerative cvnt... IF (and I don't wish anybody to have a stroke) but IF any of your friends or family members have a stroke, you come back on here and tell me how fvcking appropriate that childish gif really is. Couldn't give a toss if your happy she's gone! Just have some damn respect.
The Doctor Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 Just have some damn respect. Respect those who ****ing deserve it, and she deserves none. put aside the divisive issues of her policies (since some people can defend them) for a second and look at hillsborough - due to her cover-up there, 96 families had to live for 2 decades not only with that their loved-ones had gone to the football and never returned, but with the "knowledge" that they'd died criminals and that the deaths were their own fault. How can someone who put so many families through that sort of hell for so long, simply to protect those really at fault be worthy of respect?
Guest Bilo Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 Nice of Gary Glitter to turn up to one of the street parties.
LJS Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 You don't get respect for being dead. The **** doesn't deserve it anyway. I've seen a few people, here and elsewhere, claim that they don't feel they can have an opinion on this because of their age. That's a massive cop out. I was only 7 when she left office but I do remember the shit we lived in when I was a kid, mainly down to my dad's two long term stints of unemployment due to redundancy. She did that. And she did it with glee. I don't remember apartheid but it makes me angry. I don't remember the holocaust but it upsets me. There is no excuse for people to fence sit. There is lots of information out there and most of it is free. ****ing educate yourselves. Even if you come out on the opposite side of the argument to me at least your view will be an informed one. It amazes me that people posting on a football forum are praising her, by the way. She thought we were all scum. The ****. The most disgusting thing about her death is working class people my age paying their respects to this **** who would prefer them to have never existed. Saying she's great because some talking heads on the news said so. Go and read a book or two, you ****ing idiots.

How can someone who put so many families through that sort of hell for so long, simply to protect those really at fault be worthy of respect? I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but in what way was Margaret Thatcher personally responsible for the Hillsborough cover up? From what I read, the Hillsborough Independent Panel which reported last year concluded that the cover up was committed by South Yorkshire Police, a local MP (ie not Thatcher) propagated some lies about the event and then those lies were repeated by The Sun. I can't see that the Independent Panel or any other investigating body reported any evidence of Thatcher being personally involved in the cover up. I can understand the deep hurt caused by Hillsborough and the aftermath, but I think "Thatcher" might be being used as a convenient cover all label for the bogeymen responsible for what happened. Of course, I stand to be corrected if any of you have any evidence that Margaret Thatcher WAS personally involved in a cover up or in dishonest dealings over Hillsborough.
Fox92 Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 I knew she killed smaller mining towns (the state of my home town now is poor, for example, but before I was born, it was another northern mining town) but I'm under the impression she helped the country during the 70's. It was on its knees, just like it is now. But, I don't care really. Most politicians are the same (she probably isn't any worse than those who 'run the country' now) and I'm not the kind of person to cheer about an elderly woman's death when I don't now enough about it.

She broke unions that were holding the country to ransom every winter, and took the industries the unions were representing with them, I don't like the woman but she had a lot of guts!
Callabinho Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 If any of the younger generations are lucky enough to still have their grandparents chat to them about her. My late grandfather was involved in the pit strikes, the lowest low since the war times in some men's opinions, this a man who could speak ill of no soul spat every time her name was mentioned. She made a difference to those who mattered to her. And as most politicians battled for herself and her constituency.
indierich06 Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/people-with-no-idea-who-thatcher-was-ecstatic-that-shes-dead-2013040865066 About sums up this thread! This is a very good read though: http://thequietus.com/articles/11886-margaret-thatcher-obituary "You presided over the dismantling of the UK's manufacturing base, sold off the country's commonly owned silverware to a bunch of money-grubbing, pinstriped opportunists, practically eliminated the country's social housing stock and eroded the welfare state by unleashing the worst of which the British people are capable – fear, ruthless greed and small-minded loathing, racism, xenophobia and homophobia – adding insult to injury by administering all this with a sickly, acrid, old-fashioned dose of castor oil moralism. It is just that you rot in senile purgatory and die a lonely death."
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 After reading what he's said happened to his family he's going to have stronger feelings on the matter than many people. Liverpool football club need to grow up when it comes to Hillsborough, they have their justice, maybe it's about time they started to actually forgive some of those who perhaps could have handled the situation better, show a bit of humility for once, it was after all an accident. They could learn a thing or two from the 39 Italian familes of the fans that died in the Heysel Stadium Disaster, who's death Liverpool FC were directly and completley responsible for, and stop being so bitter.
Jon the Hat Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 Harold Wilson closed three times as many pits as Thatcher. He didn't take on the unions though. They were killing the country. She got plenty wrong, and it went too far to the other extreme, but if she hadnt reduced the power of the unions we would be living in a third world country by now.

Am I correct in saying the pits were losing billions (in today's money) and the unions were demanding pay rises, even though they weren't making a bean?

Spot on with your facts again,I'm on the fence with this as she done some fantastic things and also terrible things. Were closing the pits one of them?were they making a huge loss everytime they went into them?your knowledge is much greater than mine(no pun)but thought that was the case.

Nothing todo with oil prices being hiked and the inflation it caused then ?

Guest MattP Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 "Liverpool FC need to grow up when it comes to Hillsborough" that says it all. I think you 'said it all' last night, any sympathy I had for you lot over the 96 is well and truly gone.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 Nothing todo with oil prices being hiked and the inflation it caused then ? My point isn't, no The unions had bought down the previous government by nearly bankrupting the country with refusals to work without massive pay rises, not just the coal industry there were bodies lying in morgues for three months because funeral directors wouldn't work, she got in because she said she would smash the unions and she did.
Babylon Posted 9 April 2013 Posted 9 April 2013 There is and I will let those that rejoice defend their position You don't think it's a bit pathetic having some kind of fake party/spraying champagne etc? I find it rather odd myself, but hey ho.
