If I live to be a thousand years old I will never understand why David nugent didn't take that penalty nor why whoever the **** took it didn't just smash it

At the end of the day it's his fault. He missed the penalty, it was a poor penalty it was his fault!

I don't care what people say about the performance, as it stood we were going into extra time.

Mabye it wasn't a penalty, but it was given regardless.

It's not like he's not got the ability to put it in a corner! He was trying to be cheeky you may say by putting it down the middle.

Yes, if it would have gone in it would have been a different story. But it didn't, so there.

As sorry as I feel for him. And I want him to stay. The blame will allways lie with him, and he will forever be known as the player who missed the penalty to guarantee our place at wembly.

I don't blame Knockaert.

It showed courage to stand up and take that penalty.

But he clearly has the wrong temperament for such an important penalty.

I blame experienced players for standing and watching a young lad more known for passion, flair and unpredictability go to take a penalty on which our whole season hinged on.

And what if he smashes it down the middle and the Keeper saves it ?

Penalties are luck, almunia could have quite easily dived the opposite way.

Grow up and move on.

Agreed,, why the fvck did we go so narrow. We were doing ok .. The was no let up once we lost our width

Nicolas Priet, Luigi Glombard, Yann Kermorgant, Anthony Knockaert.

All these Frenchman I can remember were either crap, or did something bad for the club.

Get back Lilian Nalis.

Totally agree with you then if you miss it's out of play and why oh why did they let him take it. Everyone knew what would happen. Is this another example of lack of leadership on the pitch.... Hell I could have understood Kasper taking !!!!

We didn't have one player on the pitch who had taken a penalty for us this season.

Except Nugent, but he never wants them cos he's a pussy.

Bloody hell - far too many of you are quick to hate! If it werent for the guy we wouldn't of made the playoffs anyway!

The team performance 2nd half was not strong enough - he missed a pen - so what - he won it when it wasn't one in the first place.

If he'd have scored he'd be a fvcking hero but end of he didn't. He was one of our better players today and at the end of game just goes to show how much passion he has playing for us.

Grow up and give the lad a break - plenty of other times during the season where we should have secured 2nd anyway!

People can talk all they want about not playing well, about being 2nd best, about it not being a penalty, but we had the chance and blew it.

Unless you're woeful at aiming, pace/power is far more effective in penalties than placement. Blasting it, with control, should always be the aim.

Look at Gally - he never puts it in the corner - but he also never misses.

For me, we have a team full of bottlers. I don't blame knocky as such, he had the balls/arrogance to take it but the older players should have said no and made sure a confident, experienced player like King for example took it. We need an overhaul next season and not just in the managerial department. It was clear from quite early on that we lacked leadership the pitch and battlers in the middle and today we came unstuck.

You guys still never fail to amaze me! Yes, he missed a penalty that he should have scored and I can't believe the follow up didn't go in.

BUT.

He worked his socks off today and was fantastic. He won the penality in the first place and took the responsibility which clearly nobody else had the balls to do. More importantly to me, he immediately was apologising to the fans and looked absolutely distraught.

Yes, he missed the penalty but he was not the reason we lost today nor was is he the one to blame for not being at Wembley. Football is a team game.
