Guppy Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 I doubt Forest are particularly enamoured with him either Watford however..
Clazie Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 If these players don't have YouTube videos then frankly I can't see why we'd be interested.
dog_4 Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 The team that would win the championship is!!!!!!!!! Vito Mannone £1.5m,Ezekiel Fryers loan,Alex Baptiste free,Jerome Thomas free,Liam Trotter free,Vicente free,Ebanks Blake free,Jay Simpson free! Mannone De laet Morgan Baptiste Fryers Knockeart James Trotter Thomas subs: Logan,Moore,Vicente,Marshall,Simpson,Drinkwater,Nugent! Wood Ebanks Blake
Tielemans63 Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 There's a reason many of these players are free and it's not just that clubs are tightening their belts. People seem to forget that many of the players quoted would cost us significant wages as well. Also don't get the SEB love-in? He's a lazy get and has been an absolute passenger for Wolves for a couple of seasons now. Long past his best IMHO.
dog_4 Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Ebanks Blake past it? Scored 15 goals in a poor Wolves team this season! Nigel would get him into peak fitness and shining again at the age of 27! I really want Vicente is well! Does have his injury problems, but is a player above and beyond this league. I feel we could at least get 20 games out of him and players like Knockeart and Marshall would have someone to look up to and learn from!
morris1234 Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Would love to see johnny russell in a leicester shirt! A player I mentioned a while back, but Gordon Greer anybody? Very experienced championship defender but playing for Brighton knows how to play out from the back!
ratherbedeadthanred Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 russell would cost to much and turkish clubs are already looking at him, i'd throw millions at GMS though hes sick and just the sort we need
Dan Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Isn't this the very system that saw Sven get sacked? 3-5-2 is very hard to pull off due to the lack of balance / width the formation provides. It leaves you vulnerable to doubling up on the flanks, allowing teams to get good crosses in against you. It also gives difficulties going forward for the exact same reason - once the ball goes out wide it ineverably has to go back inside making your pattern of play predictable. Ad finally as you also admit, the formation also requires a very fit team due to the inefficiencies of player position, thus making it quite undesirable overall for most managers. Sven never played 3 at the back. Sven played a mix of 4-4-2 and 4-1-2-1-2 with players like Vassell out on the wing or centre mids that weren't supported enough by the full backs. There was absolutely no plan at all. With every variation from 4-4-2 (which is definitely predictable as it's been the favoured formation in England for years), you'll find strengths and weaknesses. Having 3 in the middle doesn't mean they'll necessarily be glued to the centre all the time, there's no reason they can't come out wide every now and then because you've got more players in the centre anyway to cover - same as defending crosses, whilst you might let in more, do you not have an extra bloke ready to get rid of it? It would allow us to control games from further up the field. We'll concede more but we'll score more as well - it utilises our most creative player (Knockaert) whilst keeping the forward pairing of Nugent & Wood. I honestly think with a couple more additions, we'd have an excellent squad for it. 4-4-2 can be reliable but it's often predictable. It's hard to play expansive football in a 4-4-2 and we've got players who are well capable of playing it - I don't see why we should stick to 4-4-2 and limit that.
Dan Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Going to put it out there as a suggestion - Chris O'Grady. Now I realise he's not a 'fashionable' target as such but I think there are positives: Good player? Not sure but he clearly did very well at Barnsley and genuinley looked superb against us (although I suppose us being shit helped). Not the most prolific but appears to hold the ball up well and has bit of creativity about him. Different to what we have. As mentioned I think he's less of a goalscorer in the way Nugent and Wood are but could be useful in other ways. Cheap and easy to buy. Seems unwanted by Wednesday which surprised me given how he did at Barnsley. Can't imagine he'd be too expensive given his career of playing in the lower leagues. May have to compete with Barnsley if we go for him but I'd expect us to win that little skirmish. His previous spell at Leicester doesn't interest me, that's not why I'm considering him. I admit I'm not certain that he'd be a good option but he is someone I've thought about. Anyone else have an opinion on him? We can do better. Can see your logic but we really can do better than Chris O'Grady now. Barnsley actually have some half decent players though. That Perkins always impresses me, the little blonde lad in midfield. What about Koren or you think he will feature for Hull in the Prem. Wouldn't go near any player who's turned us down twice already. Not saying he's a bad player by any means but there really is no point - the bloke doesn't want to play for us, if money's all we can tempt him with then don't bother at all. karagounis Decent shout. Years of experience and a talented player to boot.
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 We need a left back more than anything Best post in this thread. Absolutely vital that we get a new left back. We're going nowhere with Konchesky playing there.
kiwifox6 Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Gary-Mackay-Stevens and Jonny Russell. Both been brilliant for Dundee past two seasons. Russell has a great left foot and is exactly the type of striker we need, superb finishing. Mackay-Stevens plays mostly on the wing too, Skillful, pacy, What a player! I know Youtube videos are nothing to go by but... The one thing I will say from those videos... If Kasper goes I hope to hell we don't look to Scotland for a replacement!
Callabinho Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Bernard from miniero, he keeps getting over looked because of his height (no pun intended), but FOOK me he could be the next messi!
samgrizz1884 Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 I would like us to at least make an attempt to sign Sako. I feel we need a strong CB to partner Morgan. A LB. At least another striker and maybe another winger... not sure who!
samgrizz1884 Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 For an LB Izzaguire from Celtic proper quality If also get a CDM like Wilson palacios from stoke I feel we need a 20+ ST and I would try get Yakubu back from playing in China And lastly baptiste at CB if he signs

Harry - LCFC Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 We can do better. Can see your logic but we really can do better than Chris O'Grady now. Barnsley actually have some half decent players though. That Perkins always impresses me, the little blonde lad in midfield. I like the look of him too. Seems to put so much effort in every game but has a bit of creativity about him as well. Just looked him up, nearly thirty years old, surprised me a bit. Jacob Mellis is another name that's been mentioned but I haven't seen much of him. I like this targeting of the Barnsley squad, feels like we're bullying them a bit.

Harry - LCFC Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Who was that winger that stormed past Konch before there first goal? I think that was Mellis. Could also have been Etuhu. Fairly sure it was one of those though.
CV_Fox Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 In GK - Wes Foderingham (Swindon) as Kaspers Replacement LB - Matt Briggs (Watford on loan from Fulham) CB - Alex Baptiste (Blackpool) or Grant Hanley (Blackburn) W - Matt Ritchie (Bournemouth), Gary Mackay-Steven (Dundee United) or Bakary Sako (Wolves) FW - Leigh Griffiths (Hibernian On loan From Wolves)
Munshi Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 I think that was Mellis. Could also have been Etuhu. Fairly sure it was one of those though. Nope it was someone else, the names just got away from me, let me watch the highlights and check.
KFS Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 If Nakhi Wells goes to a Championship team that isn't us, I'd be actually disappointed. The same goes for Harry Forrester (free transfer)
Harry - LCFC Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Nope it was someone else, the names just got away from me, let me watch the highlights and check. "An own goal is conceded by Michael Keane. Barnsley 1-0 Leicester.Scott Wiseman provided the assist for the goal." From Sky Sports. He's a RB not a winger.
whitlock Posted 19 May 2013 Posted 19 May 2013 Played with Harry Forrester years ago before he moved to Watford. Arrogant ****!
