Who in their right mind would want to go Blackburn

To be fair he spent a few years at Blackburn before joining Notts County so can see why he might want to return.

But it is a little weird to sign for a club without a permanent manager. Who's making these signings? Bowyer? Shebby Singh?

INS - deffinatley a left back to give konchesky a bit of competition, he was slacking a bit this season, someone like angel rangel, or cresswell although he would deffinatley want 1st team football weak in weak out, i'd take a brick shithouse like trotter or if we are willing to spend even more jedinak if palarse dont go up, these will be the physical dirty bastards we will sometimes need, especially for the phyical games we always seem to be a push over in against the poor teams like millwall and most of the yorkshire clubs, someone like mccechran on loan, i would keep SSL, hasnt done anything wrong IMO, and a forward once we flog vardy off for a freddo. wouldn't say no to ebanks blake.

Notice Seyi Olofinjana has been let go from Hull, would have been good a couple of years ago but not seen much of him last couple of years, worth a go?

Always rated him but found it interesting that he didn't seem to feature much.

I'd take Helguson for a year.

Interesting if it's Singh lol doesn't strike me as the type who'd be looking at Millwall & Notts County for players.

Jay Simpson released from Hull.

Is he a better option than Vardy/Waghorn off the bench?

Genuinely not. He's utter shit. Honestly would rather have Vardy.

Starting line up next year:

Schmeichel

De Laet

Morgan

NEW CB

NEW LB

Knockaert

King

James

NEW LM/LW - SCHLUPP? with dyer as sub?

Nugent

Wood

... And a couple midfielders/strikers to strengthen the bench, Vardy and Waghorn are doing my nut in!

......as I simply can't be bothered to read through all these threads on the off chance but, he has been released by Wolves and I think her would do a great job for us. SEB would be a different type of striker to anything we currently have, he has shown before he is more than capable and he is not past it. I remember when Holloway came in and went back to Plymouth to pick up a striker......How excited I was thinking we were getting SEB. No, Holloway brought back Barry Hayles and that is in no way the same thing. If he had picked up the much needed striker at the time we may have not been relegated as goal scoring was our problem. I think if we get him in for the next season, he will certainly be a huge benefit to our strike force. So go on Pearson, Shakey and Walsh.....go get him, he is only an hour away.

Ive been wanting this to happen ever since his Plymouth days and when he went to wolves. I had an urge to put a better on for him to be top scorer in the championship at the beginning start but never did!!!

Anyway I think he'd be a perfect fit, bring him in!

I'd say one other reason is that it allows you to control the game from further up the field as well. It would be easier to keep possession in midfield in a 3-5-2 than it would in a 4-4-2 and you're less inclined to pass it around the back.

It takes excellent wing-backs though. It takes competency both going forward and defending and a shit load of energy - De Laet's an excellent attacker IMO but his defending hasn't ever really convinced me although I wouldn't say he's a terrible defender by any means, Konchesky wouldn't have the legs to do it anymore so I'd look at a left wing back.

I maintain the main reason I'd do this is because I think it allows you to play De Laet & Knockaert in their most effective positions whilst keeping the likes of Nugent, Wood, King & James in their current ones.

Don't see Pearson ever doing it though, sadly.

Isn't this the very system that saw Sven get sacked?

3-5-2 is very hard to pull off due to the lack of balance / width the formation provides. It leaves you vulnerable to doubling up on the flanks, allowing teams to get good crosses in against you. It also gives difficulties going forward for the exact same reason - once the ball goes out wide it ineverably has to go back inside making your pattern of play predictable.

Ad finally as you also admit, the formation also requires a very fit team due to the inefficiencies of player position, thus making it quite undesirable overall for most managers.
