Reading never sacked McDermott after there playoff final defeat.

Cardiff never sacked Mackay after there playoff semi final defeat.

Keep Pearson let him clear the deadwood, bring in another 3/4 players and let him have another crack at it again.

there's already threads like this. plus you're wrong. Pearson needs to stay. We're building something.

This.

If already threads like this people must agree, u want to keep a bloke that has failed?? losing mentality how long would you keep him for if we dont get promoted 1,3,5 seasons?

Its simply he was set a task and failed so he has to go, at work if I dont hit my targets im in trouble and could lose my job, people go on about stability but how long do you leave it what if we kept him and made play offs again next season but dont get promoted do you wait another year? On transfers we were the secong highest spenders in league some poor signings and loans, we have been awful leading upto playoffs amazing we got in them and plays long ball with some strange tactical decisions.

How do you know what his specific target was, rather than a broader aim of the club?

For all anyone knows - He could have been tasked with getting the playing side halfway on a sustainable even keel whilst challenging at right end of the table.

And if you missed your targets you'll no doubt be performance managed in some way before going through escalating disciplinary procedures. Obviously that doesn't happen with football manager's contracts, but don't lie to make your point.

Thankfully there's only a minority of fans who want to start all over again... Again... Again ad infinitum, strangely none of them know how to use a forum and add their comments to existing threads and instead make new ones all the time making it seem like there is more of them than there really is.

I'd sooner build, I'd sooner us follow in the path well trodden... Most recently by clubs like Reading & Cardiff who built on playoff defeats to get promoted next time... Just as we should have done in 2010 rather than contributing to £100m of losses on a managerial merry go round

Ugh sod off you utter twat. So boring.

Unfortunately the quick fire nature of this club has rubbed onto some fans.

Keep the old boy and let him do something!

Nice reply everyone entitled to a opinion, when i used to say that matt mills was garbage people used to jump on my back, u r the type on fan who loves every player i suppose u rate konch waghorn and drinkwater as well

So sack Pearson, pay him off that's more losses.

Bring a new manager for him, new contract.

He comes in "oh by the way you have to sell before you can buy"

"Okay well I prefer these six players so I'll take money for King and Schmeichel, never rated dyer so I'll sell him, and any one who fancies going can"

Brings in his targets, takes time to gel after 16 games lcfc are floating in mid table obscurity with you opening another thread "he's got to go"

.......on and on and on and on.

Just because you were right about Mills doesn't make you right about everything. Anyway, my opinion is one more year. If we don't get promoted then goodbye. This summer should be enough to get rid of the leftover deadwood and have a full Pearson squad.

sharpie, are you looking for appreciation, comfort and respect?

You're in a minority on here with your opinion. There's tons of other threads on this tedious topic, there have been tons before, we've done this a million times and it gets more tedious with every new "exciting" thread on a topic we've all seen a million times before.

Get a bit more creative.

How do we know Pearson had a target and if so that he failed it? If he was given a target of getting us in the Play Offs and reducing the wage budget then he succeeded

If the thread is tedious why read it? common sense. He said himself his target is to get promoted this season 9he failed), people seem to think that just because you are a fan you cant say a bad word against a player/manager pathetic

That's not the point though. It is suicidal move to remove Pearson financially, have you not read through the financial predicament we are in? We can't afford to make any knee jerk decisions, we will be much better off sticking by Pearson and working within our means.

We've seen enough managers come and go over too short a period. This has divided and weakened our promotion chances. Pearson is not far off getting us what we all want and with a little more strength in certain areas imo we will have a go at auto's.

There was an interview in the mail ,when he said what his remit was at the start of his homecoming la which sounded like he was told he had to get promotion or the boot.

I'll be the first to admit that when we really hit a bad patch around the Derby match before the international break I thought his time was up than and wanted him to go. He has shown signs of turning it around and am quite happy for him to stay. Prior to all that since he was reappointed I've always been encouraged by Pearsons signings, always young hungry and ambitious players. The squad does need strengthening and perhaps a couple more old heads but aside from that I would be very disappointed were he to get the bullet. Besides first Forest away win in what... 40 years? bloke deserves a bigger contract for that alone, aside from the fact that under Pearson we have had 1 League 1 title, 2 play off finishes and just finishing outside of the play offs.

Pearson in!

I must confess I'm optimistic if he stays, and - despite being the sort who tends to back the manager - I'm optimistic if we replace him with one of the better alternatives.

The season wasn't a success in the end, we've got to be honest about that, and I still feel there's a great argument in favour of him going; depending on several factors (finances, available alternatives) of which we can't be aware. However I think his knowledge of the squad shouldn't be underestimated, and a competent manager with an eye for a good young player and a squad that he knows well can always do well.

For me the arresting of that decline and how close we came to Wembley has cast the season in a different light. It has also recreated a buzz about this club that has been missing for a long time. We have a good base to build on but when you consider the 8 or 9 players that would have needed clearing out, and the 5 or 6 new players we would have needed for the first team alone had we gone up, I can't help feeling that the transition would have been too sudden. Now we have another year, finances permitting, to smooth that transition.

A year from now we could be saying that this was a good thing. With or without Pearson.

My two biggest fears, by the way, are sticking with him but wanting rid after ten or fifteen games... or getting someone like Ince, Keane or Hughes in and blowing it all.

Your right, all the managers I would have snapped up when there were serious calls for his head have all been taken.. I feel now that sticking with him would be the better option.
