Charl91 Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Failed my third one today. 4 minors and one major Did anyone else have this much trouble with them?
Rincewind Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Don't be too downhearted. Think of it this way; you have made 10 mill ion GB drivers happy today.
Daz93 Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Took me four times to pass mine mate, it's just about luck on the day. First I messed up, but next two the examiner was unbelievably harsh, don't know anyone that passed with him. Had to wait for the fourth time when I got the nice examiner. My girlfriend got the nice examiner first time round and passed first time and has already wrote off one car. Just keep going, worth it in the end.
ScouseFox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I'm pretty sure I can't drive at all but passed first time with 3 minors. My sister has tried 6 times and now given up, mind. It's really expensive too which is probably the worst part about it.
Magictv Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Just have another crack at it, you're standard of driving within that one hour window will bounce up and down randomly. It's about being good enough that your bad days are still a pass, or fortunate enough that you have one of your better days on the day of the test.
Charl91 Posted 21 May 2013 Author Posted 21 May 2013 What was the major for? Wrong lane at the roundabout. Last minute of the test too. Was pretty gutting.
ADK Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 When i did the test you could print out all the possible routes beforehand so i practiced them all. Don't think you can do that now though.
21st Century Fox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Failed my third one today. 4 minors and one major Did anyone else have this much trouble with them? Sometimes it just takes getting lucky with the right examiner who puts you at ease enough where you don't make simple mistakes.
Charl91 Posted 21 May 2013 Author Posted 21 May 2013 When i did the test you could print out all the possible routes beforehand so i practiced them all. Don't think you can do that now though. You do find out the routes, but I think there's like 20+ variations, or something stupid.
Webbo Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 When I did my test I reversed around a corner into my own street.
Wymsey Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I failed twice; one for speeding, and one for bumping onto a kerb whilst reverse parking. It's an awful feeling when the instructor tells you that ''unfortunately you did not pass the driving test'', but keep your chin up mate, learn from your mistakes and practice (I know it's easy to say - but you have to).
ousefox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 My mate has failed twice now, and is getting a bit downhearted about it. Told him to do it again as soon as possible, if he leaves it he'll have wasted so much money. I passed first time and was extremely lucky. Got an easy route, and got 4 minors with apparently the harshest examiner. I think it's all about nerves too, I was shit in the lesson before but just thought to myself to be positive and a bit cocky and not to feel nervous and it did the trick. Probably the fact it's so expensive to do made me not want to fail too!
peterborofox Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I passed second time, first i still think the examiner wanted me to fail
ADK Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 well they have quotas, so maybe they had passed quite a few that month.
pSinatra Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I think it's true when they say that you don't learn to drive........you learn how to pass your test. That you learn to drive when you get out on the road on your own, making mistakes & learning from them. I passed first time when I was 17, but it was a lottery in the weeks leading up to the test whether I would pass or not. Some days I was awful & others I was good. I got lucky & was good on the day of my test. If I look back & think about how competent a driver I was......I wouldn't have let me pass. I don't know if it's more difficult to pass now? When I passed, there was no theory test & no parallel parking. I don't even know whereabouts tests are taken now? It was either Narborough Road or Gypsy Lane for me. Mine was on Narborough Road during rush hour.....which helped.
MooseBreath Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I passed fifth time. Was depressing to keep failing. On the fifth test I pulled out in front of a car at a junction and the cvnt in the car was blatantly speeding and nearly crashed into me, beeping his horn as he did so. The test instructer did a sharp intake of breath and even kind of braced for impact. I was 100% sure I had failed the test for that, so just relaxed into depressed acceptance for the rest of the test. Passed with two minors.
DennisNedry Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Passed first time with 0 minors, but I feel I was a little lucky: - The route I took was by chance around my house so I knew the area and all the junctions/roundabouts well. - My examiner wasn't a bellend. - I got 'reverse around a corner' as my manouvre which was easily my best one which I was most confident with.
Dylan Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Definitely about having a little luck on the day imo. Passed first time a couple of months ago, not sure if I feel really confident on the road on my own though, hopefully becomes easy once I get insured on something this summer. Just keep it going, it's something you've pretty much gotta do and pass, so no point in giving up. Luckily, I didn't really have anything major to deal with, roads weren't too busy so I was happy. Main thing I was worrying about was Pork Pie Roundabout, shitting myself when I got a right turn 5th exit, luckily the car in front indicated right too and was in the same lane as me, so I could just follow him onto the junction which is what I found hardest! Which test centre you doing by the way?
Rincewind Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 My last driving lesson was when I was in my 20's. The instructor had enough of me. But TBF it was a bad day and he kept grabbing the wheel. My problem was co-ordination with gears/clutch. May have been better in an automatic but I would never have been 100% even if I passed so maybe best I deidn't. I remember one instructor said to me once 'Don't drive like me when you pass.' which given he was teaching me may not have been the greatest confidence booster but I think he meant that you should drive perfect up to the test the use your judgement after because sometimes you cannot do the things by the book.
whoareyaaa Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Passed first time with 2 minor, although some huge woman was sitting in the back examining the women who was examining me which I think made it easier as she couldn't bullshit me with any majors.
Ozwin Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 I'm learning still. Had 6 hours so far, been alright, still getting the hang of it all. I find turning quite difficult though, like it's hard to work out how far from the curb you are when you're doing a left turn. Right turns I find pretty easy.
Stinkenzo Posted 21 May 2013 Posted 21 May 2013 Failed my third one today. 4 minors and one major Did anyone else have this much trouble with them? Completely identical to me.. luckily for you I passed on my 4th test haha
