In Leicester City you get a free bulk collection, once every 2 or 3 months (I cant remember which) which is up to 5 large items each time.

I've used it myself a few times and it is really handy, then yes, any in between that you have to pay for.

Some of these houses that line the roads off Narborough Road with mattresses, armchairs and chest of drawers lining their front gardens would do well to be reminded by the council that it exists though.

Maybe they're storing them there until the free collection is available.

Living in the area, it’s most definitely getting worse.

The connection between Raymond Road and Wilberforce Road is an absolute disgrace.

I think if they'd only been there a few months I'd be inclined to agree, however some of these items of furniture have almost achieved listed status the length of time they've been there.

Oh yes, the joys of the Lambert Wilberforce skip, as I now call it. Absolutely horrible.

It’s always been shitty, but in recent times the shit has intensified. As for Narborough Road itself, all these foreign supermarkets are absolutely killing it, the one that has replaced the shoe shop on Raymond Road, the overflowing rubbish they dumped out a few weeks ago was a disgusting disgrace.

Turning into a slum in some parts. ****ing disgusting

I'm not a fan generally of brutal architecture pulling that down though does nothing for the environment. I'm all for restoring buildings unless they were made in the 60s/70 out of cardboard and cheap concrete.

Restore it and turn the whole area into a shopping destination, with on the spot parking  to the rival the Highcross bring some life back into this part of the City. There's lots of potential around there with a bit of imagination and ££s

It used to be a very busy popular spot with the Tesco and other shops plus the Bowling Alley. This was built when the City were leaders with the ground breaking carpark, central Supermarket and the largest single floor bowling alley, 36 lanes in the UK

Is Lee Circle Grade II listed? I'm sure I heard that somewhere before but there's nothing online.

It's always had goblins pissing in the stairwells unfortunately; I don't think it'll ever reopen as a car park, not one that can make any money anyway. But then what do you do with a massive concrete helix in an absolute pit of an area?

I was visiting a site there this morning and maintain that flattening this eyesore would be incredible for the area. If the centre of Lee Circle became public open realm space, then the outside of the circle will instantly become attractive regeneration space facing into the circle instead of away from it.

If I were at the council, I would prioritise its demolition over anything else in the city at present.

Looking up at it today, its in a poor state of repair, I suspect I could condemn it if I were appointed to do so. The concrete is very much on its last legs and desperately needs structural repair works to make safe.
