Guest ttfn Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 World class players can change games. Rooney can't. Rooney scored a goal out of nothing no more than 15 minutes ago to put a shit England side 2-1 up in the Maracana.
Danno Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Problem is we have no Juan Mata or Silva type players who can always be there to create and score goals, we rely to heavily on Rooney and Walcott to create our chances, shame though Rooney would be so much better if he concentrated on staying up front rather than dropping deep all the time.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Anyone that wouldn't pick Rooney but would pick Carroll is a grade A ****ing idiot. If you really don't want Rooney I'm sure the Irish would gladly have him back. At least you'd find Carroll where you'd expect him to be. Either A) Up front or B) On the deck.

Bayfox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Jagielka better than Lescott? Hahaha Maybe not but who gets a game every week.

I think it brings us back to the fact that we have very few players with any technical ability. We're crying out for a fit Wilshere. I'd also play a Lescott/Jagielka combo rather than cahill - didn't they play together at Everton? They were also immense in the friendly vs. spain 2 years back.
leicesterisme Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Rooney scored a goal out of nothing no more than 15 minutes ago to put a shit England side 2-1 up in the Maracana. When it actually matters in a tournament what exactly has he done?
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 2-2 a huge improvement in the second half, but we need to play like that for ninety minutes, this has been England's problem since Hodgson as took over. We only play well for one half!
Fox in the North Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Much better performance in the second half. Quite entertaining in the end with good finishes for the goals. Hart has to be MOM for his first half saves.
Haydos Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Did you miss the, 'In January last year' bit just to suit your reply?? And he's managed to keep Rooney on Utds bench I didn't I just genuinely missed it. Not really sure what 18 months ago has to do with anything really though.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 When it actually matters in a tournament what exactly has he done? Been injured, suspended or fvcking ace.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 When it actually matters in a tournament what exactly has he done? errrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Can we not discuss this bit please? It doesn't suit their argument.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 At least he says it how it is. Is that a joke? It never fails to amaze me how a bloke who played football at the level he did can seemingly know absolutely nothing about the game. Everything he says is wrong.
Guest shearfox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 When it actually matters in a tournament what exactly has he done? I suppose euro 2004 doesn't count? The only time when he hasn't been injured
kingfox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 might as well take that result. Some on about the defence not being good enough, Jagielka is an absolute rock, he has done well for England in the past, had a terrific season for Everton but just didn't do well tonight, Cahill has had some solid games, but capable of mistakes as well, but he is a major threat from set pieces, so he is key in an attacking sense as well. I want to see, Forster, Richards, Shaw, Nolan, Lallana, Zaha and Rodriguez get called up and start our next Friendly game.
Fox92 Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 When it actually matters in a tournament what exactly has he done? So, what exactly did any of the other players do? Last year in the European Championships, there was no doubt Gerrard was our best player with Cole as well, but there were hardly any other contributions from the rest. There is obviously too much weight on Rooney's shoulders if you just expect him to contribute in a tournamount. I don't think he can win - he doesn't score and you call his shit. He scores a wonder goal out of nothing in the game and you call him shit.
Kitchandro Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Brazil were crap, we were crap, if it was 0-0 I don't think anyone could have complained. A couple of decent goals though. I'm glad Oxlade-Chamberlain got one of them, he's got a lot of unfair stick IMO. Brazil will surely do well because they're at home next year but on that showing they're well behind Spain and Germany.

I agree with some of those names but i would add Agbonlahor to that list his recent performances for Villa can't go unmissed.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I didn't I just genuinely missed it. Not really sure what 18 months ago has to do with anything really though. My point was we knew at the time that Rooney was certainly going to miss the first two games in the group stages. Upto January Young and Sturridge were absolutely superb and the 3 pronged idea really appealed to me. We actually played some half decent football those first two games without him. Rooney comes back in (Woy has to play him to avoid outrage by the media and to effectively keep him in a job- Imagine if Rooney hadn't played and we a) didn't qualify for the quarter finals or b) got knocked out by Italy without Rooney) The fact is Rooney did nothing to improve our chances of Euro success with the two games he played in last year. We ended up playing worse than we would have without him.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Euro 2004 - Player of the tournament by a statute mile. Injured in quarter-final. World Cup 2006 - Rushed back from injury before ready, ineffectual. Euro 2008 - DNQ World Cup 2010 - Poor tournament but whole team was appalling. Euro 2012 - Scored the winner against Ukraine before England were outclassed in the quarter-final. Suspended for first two games. I'm not sure what any of this proves. Generally, England have been poor at tournaments since 2004 so it seems a bit harsh to single out Rooney's poor performances.

Gerrard on the other hand, has been our best player for the past 2 tournaments. A much better player than Rooney IMO, shame he's on his last legs.
Kitchandro Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 So, what exactly did any of the other players do? He scores a wonder goal out of nothing in the game and you call him shit. Big deflection. I don't think it's too much to ask him to contriubute to a tournament. He gets a lot of hype that is clearly undeserved. He's just not that good a player. Shit is harsh, but he's not got the quality to make a big difference in a world cup match. For years people have made him out to be a game changer and the key to England's success, but he's not been up to that since he broke his foot all those years ago.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 I suppose euro 2004 doesn't count? The only time when he hasn't been injured He was injured against Portugal. But up til then yes he was very good. Though at this point in his career he was a raw talent
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 So who would be in your line up against the jocks folks? Should we look to test things?
