Haydos Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Just me or does Jack Rodwell look like Justin Bieber? His face annoys me.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Who would you have instead? Andy Carroll? You know what, how he played in the euros compared to Rooney then yes. In January last year I was hoping for some sort of 3 pronged attack involving 3 of Carroll Sturridge Welbeck and Young. Sorry for being able to think for myself and not conforming to the Rooney claptrap
Haydos Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Have you seen his goal kicks! What's that got to do with that goal?
Guest ttfn Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Jagielka better than Lescott? Hahaha Ok even accepting that questionable statement, what about Cahill, who you couldn't believe was in the team?
Charl91 Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 He is our best striker, though. Not sure how many he has scored (in reference to your question). Not sure how many the other strikers have scored either. He is really, on his day (which is rare) but that's not really the problem. The problem is that we persist in keeping him on if he's playing shit, or crowbarring him into the team if we're playing well without him.

Guest Bilo Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 20,000 empty seats apparently. Is it just me who's a bit underwhelmed by the new Maracana as well?
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 What's that got to do with that goal? No it's just another player that is treated like a god, yet Ox scored a wonder goal and you don't hear much about him.
Danno Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Ok even accepting that questionable statement, what about Cahill, who you couldn't believe was in the team?Jones is still better than Cahill.
Finnegan Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Anyone that wouldn't pick Rooney but would pick Carroll is a grade A ****ing idiot. If you really don't want Rooney I'm sure the Irish would gladly have him back.
kingfox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Just me or does Jack Rodwell look like Justin Bieber? His face annoys me. Justin Bieber is the man, leave him alone.
purpleronnie Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 20,000 empty seats apparently. Is it just me who's a bit underwhelmed by the new Maracana as well? Nope, one of the worst comapred to the other stadiums they have in brazil, but I think the low attendance was a security measure.
Fox92 Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 He is really, on his day (which is rare) but that's not really the problem. The problem is that we persist in keeping him on if he's playing shit, or crowbarring him into the team if we're playing well without him. As above, our national pool isn't good enough. Also, that problem has nothing to do with Rooney. That's why Roy gets his money to make changes. But I'd still have Rooney in my team, and I'm sure most clubs in the World would.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Jones is still better than Cahill. A) No B) Jones is already playing. One of Hodgson's limiting factors in his selection is that he can't clone his players.
Leicesterpool Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Man Of The match folks? Ox for me though Milner has been good
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 He is our best striker, though. Not sure how many he has scored (in reference to your question). Not sure how many the other strikers have scored either. He's without doubt the best striker of the ball we have. So what the bloody hell does he usually drop back so deep for (how many times have you seen him winning the ball at right back for example) That's all very well but then how are we going to score when our best striker of the ball is in his own half? He can't pass for shit usually and once that starts going awry, you know it won't be long til he's yellow carded or sent off ala Montenegro. World class players can change games. Rooney can't. The last tournament Rooney scored 0. Not sure on the other players but I know Carroll scored as did Welbeck.
Danno Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 A) No B) Jones is already playing. One of Hodgson's limiting factors in his selection is that he can't clone his players. Oh god you disabled, he's best at centre back where he should be played instead of midfield where he doesn't look particularly great. If you pick Cahill then at least play him with a decent partner for god sake.
Vacamion Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Man Of The match folks? Ox for me though Milner has been good For England? Hart.
Charl91 Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 As above, our national pool isn't good enough. Also, that problem has nothing to do with Rooney. That's why Roy gets his money to make changes. But I'd still have Rooney in my team, and I'm sure most clubs in the World would. You're right, our national pool isn't that good, but you're really under-estimating how shocking an out of form Wayne Rooney truly is. If he's playing badly, then we shouldn't be afraid to bench him the next game, or sub him off, and play Sturridge/Defoe/Welbeck/Bent, heck even that oaf Carroll. Don't get me wrong, I hate Wayne Rooney, but on form he is our best striker - that doesn't mean he's irreplaceable regardless of form though. And yes, it IS Roy's fault.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Welbeck as well? You really are scraping the barrel, he's been brilliant this season hasn't he. Did you miss the, 'In January last year' bit just to suit your reply?? And he's managed to keep Rooney on Utds bench
Captain... Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 He is really, on his day (which is rare) but that's not really the problem. The problem is that we persist in keeping him on if he's playing shit, or crowbarring him into the team if we're playing well without him. I think that is the problem, if we say that Rooney is the best English footballer available at present, which is debatable, then why do we not play to his strengths? Why isolate him up front with little support? He needs players around him feeding off him, and him off them. He can't lead the line and is too easy for centre backs to nullify if he is on his own. He isn't fast enough to play on the break nor strong enough in the air. Basically he is not a centre forward, so why do we keep on playing him there!
Ross-Kemp Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 What's wrong with giving Forster, Lambert, Bent, Agbonlahor, Hooper, Lennon, Rodriguez, Lallana, Carroll a chance in friendlies ? Instead of persisting with the same under achieving bunch, give some other lads a go!
Charl91 Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Oh, and Hart has to be MOM for England. Kicking has been meh, but saves have been world class.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 June 2013 Posted 2 June 2013 Hart. From what I saw in the first half, undoubtedly this.
