Benji Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 Played the game not the tournament. The boring old farts on Sky are consistently the most negative ex-players of any sport against current England teams. They seem to take great enjoyment from criticising a pretty successful team in all forms of the game.
purpleronnie Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 But even successful sides should be criticised, we should do it more, the aussies when they dominated weren't just happy with winning but were always trying to improve.
Swarles Barkley Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 Shane warne giving it all that about how we didnt bat well enough shouldve got 300 plus etc. pot kettle black? in fairness we have bowled very well but australia have been very poor

We should have got over 300, I doubt he thinks the aussies have batted well.

Guest MattP Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 I still can't believe those idiots thought 300 was par. Great performance.
Benji Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 But even successful sides should be criticised, we should do it more, the aussies when they dominated weren't just happy with winning but were always trying to improve. It's rarely constructive. Simply a case of "this is how I would have done it I can't believe you haven't". Bit like the NZ decision not to follow on the other week. Look who was proved right. Today - why risk swinging and losing wickets when you're confident 250+ is more than enough to defend against a struggling Australian team and a strong bowling line-up? Runs on the board have won this.

Not sure that is a good example, we should have been positive and made them follow on, thankfullythe weather wasn't as bad as forecasters had predicted, there was no advantage in not enforcing the follow on. Bobby Hundreds Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 I think a lot of people got the wicket wrong. It seems to be much harder to get the ball away than predicted.

Why's that, did we lose? Being constructive on how to improve is one thing, but people like Nick Knight and Ian Botham just sit there and moan, moan, moan game after game. purpleronnie Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 Seeing some fans leaving is baffling, you spend all day there and a few overs to go you leave and miss our celebrations.
Super_horns Posted 8 June 2013 Share Posted 8 June 2013 So that is the record for Anderson - could he get the highest number of test wickets too?
Corky Posted 8 June 2013 Author Share Posted 8 June 2013 Very comfortable win, so impressed with the way our bowlers and fielders strangled the life out of the game. Only annoyance was the umpires reviewing virtually everything, they should trust their own decisions more.

Corky Posted 9 June 2013 Author Share Posted 9 June 2013 If the batsman had been run out at the end on the second run, would it have counted as the wide and first run took New Zealand to the required total?

Corky Posted 10 June 2013 Author Share Posted 10 June 2013 Yes So they could've been all out for 139 and still won?
