Matt Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 Too many important players missing, they have now progressed to the senior team. Running before they can walk imo. There are two cases really, do you fastrack them straight into the senior team and gives them that experence or do you leave them in the U21's, hope they are successful, gain successful tournament experience and breed success and winning into them. Germany seemed to do well when fastracking all their youngsters straight into the senior team but personally we should have keep the young players who made the step to the senior team back and gave them tournament experience in this U21's campaign.
Super_horns Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 There were a lot of Championship players out there which proves how weak the squad probably was which hardly helped. I remember hearing Zaha had to have injection before each game towards the end of the season and Chalobah has played 40 odd games for the first time so how fit were they to play at a higher level? Still not much excuse for the poor performances on the day but then we probably ought to be used to that sadly at major tournaments.

I'd love to see how many games Italy's side had played this year. Insigne's been one of Napoli's key players.
Wymsey Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 What's the hype about Wilfried Zaha? Every-time I watch him play, he seems bang average.
LCFC FOX Posted 9 June 2013 Author Posted 9 June 2013 What's the hype about Wilfried Zaha? Every-time I watch him play, he seems bang average. Agreed, Knockaert had a much better season. The only trait Zaha is better at than Knockaert is Pace
Stadt Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 Agreed, Knockaert had a much better season. The only trait Zaha is better at than Knockaert is PaceZaha has an England cap
Corky Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 What's the hype about Wilfried Zaha? Every-time I watch him play, he seems bang average. He's got some skill, Man United paid a lot of money for him (obviously they've never made a transfer error before) and Holloway, who is loved by the press, kept telling the world, virtually every day, that Zaha was the best thing in the world (or near enough).
Super_horns Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 Its what coaches and managers like generally though - players with pace even if their end product isn't always great. Zaha was pretty decent against us though when we've faced him but then Palace usually are! Be the usual - he'll either get criticised after a few games or be called a world beater.
Danno Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 I remember the rumour going round when Sven was here that we'd signed Morata
ealingfox Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 Not that it means we aren't shit, but for all the whinging about our u21's that's been going on, that oasis of footballing perfection the Kraut have also been seen off at the first opportunity.
Finnegan Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 Can't understand why the Germans fielded such a weak side, really. I guess they wanted to bring through the latest crop of youngsters, feeling the likes of Schurrle, Gotze, Reus and Gundogan have all established themselves now but the above aren't exactly starting every (or even most) games for the seniors. You'd have thought one or two could be included. You want a bit of balance, surely, if you blood eleven fresh youngsters in one go they're going to get whupped and not really learn a lot. The likes of Volland aren't exactly banging on the door of international football are they?
LCFC FOX Posted 9 June 2013 Author Posted 9 June 2013 Zaha has an England capSo? Knockaert would have to if everyone hyped about him and obviously if he was English.Would take Ince, Redmond and Knockaert over him in the championship, more goals and assists this season and they played in a shitter team than Zaha. Bolasie had a better season than him this season.
Finnegan Posted 9 June 2013 Posted 9 June 2013 Let's be perfectly clear, Wilfred Zaha only has an England cap because the country of his birth came knocking. Nobody in the entire world seriously felt he was ready for it, they just wanted him tied down to English nationality.

Nobody in the entire world seriously felt he was ready for it, they just wanted him tied down to English nationality. He can still play for Ivory Coast. Let's be perfectly clear though, half of the players in the Wales squad are English.
Finnegan Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 He can still play for Ivory Coast. Let's be perfectly clear though, half of the players in the Wales squad are English. Again, what's your point? I love that you keep getting upset and taking pot shots at Wales when you think I'm insulting England. Eventually you'll cotton on that I don't give a ****. Welsh fans long ago accepted we're the Aston Villa of world football - irrelevant.

Got a player better than anyone in the England team though, at least there's that.
Finnegan Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 Got a player better than anyone in the England team though, at least there's that. And I'd still take Ramsey over Wilshire.
Guy1960 Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 He can still play for Ivory Coast. Let's be perfectly clear though, half of the players in the Wales squad are English. It's a shame Bale is playing for Wales rather than England As for Zaha he is going to be under the microscope at Man Utd. Pacy player but end product not good enough to make an impact at the highest level.
Finnegan Posted 10 June 2013 Posted 10 June 2013 You mean it's a shame he was born and raised in Cardiff?
ealingfox Posted 11 June 2013 Posted 11 June 2013 Stuart Pearce's record as manager of the England Under-21s is: Games: 41 Wins: 23 Draws: 13 Losses: 5 Win%: 56.10 Actually pretty decent. Not doing it in tournaments and a backward style of football should cost him though.
Guy1960 Posted 11 June 2013 Posted 11 June 2013 I imagine the U21 job isn't top of too many managers wish lists. I am not keen on Pearce but can't imagine he can influence much in terms of players technique in the limited number of days under his tutelage.
Soar Fox Posted 11 June 2013 Posted 11 June 2013 If any of these England under 21's players go on and become a regular in the seniors i'll be amazed. Absouletly shocking, they can't even do the basics.
