Joe Kinnear Back To Newcastle!

Apparently he gave an amazing interview to Talksport....

Yet that proved the least of the jaw-dropping moments of Kinnear's interview. During his conversation with Andy Goldstein and fellow former Wimbledon manager Bobby Gould, the 66-year-old claimed responsibility for signing Tim Krul [a goalkeeper recruited by Graeme Souness] as well as James Perch [bought by Chris Hughton], said "Derek Llambezee [Derek Llambias, Newcastle's managing director] had resigned as director of football [a position he has never held]and talked about Shola Amenobee, Yohan Kebab and Hatem Ben Afre rather than Shola Ameobi, Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa.

Then there was his claim that he has been named manager of the year three times when he has, in reality, won the award once, and the boast that his "worldwide" contacts were so extensive no door was closed to him.

"I heard a silly comment of 'what can I attract?' I can open the door to any manager in the world, anyone, that's the difference," said Kinnear. "I've spent my whole life talking to [sir] Alex Ferguson, week in, week out. I can pick the phone up at any time of the day and speak to Arsène Wenger, any manager in the league. In all the divisions."

I know Newcastle aren't the most popular club around but you have to feel for their fans over this.

How the bloke can claim superior intelligence then get so much incorrect is remarkable.

At first I though Mike Ashley was just messing around but now I can see he ain't Joe Kinnear.

I'm here all week.

Aye, 'cos no one else will have you! ;)

I'm not sure he's well.

Heard is interview on talksports sportsbar today.

I had to say i thought he was mentally ill.

I'm not sure which is more staggering. The fact he has got the job. Or they didnt decide to bin him after the interview. Did he get one name or fact right.

Manager of the year 3 times.hahahahaha.

That has to be the most interesting interview concerning football I've heard in a while. He couldn't pronounce one name right despite some of the players working with him before he left. To top it off, he claims to sign players that he didn't. Unlucky Pardew.

God bless Mike Ashley for bringing us another helping of Joe Kinnear - he's the gift that just keeps on giving.  And he's just up the road from Paulo Di Canio too!  And in the season when Horrorway and Jose return as well.  There is now officially no need for any football to be played in 2013-14.

From Football365's brilliant Mediawatch page:

Spot The Odd One Out

"Wow, at least get my name right" - Newcastle striker Sammy Ameobi.

"Just listened to the amazing interview that you're all tweeting about from last night. I can speak openly on April 1, sorry, July 1" - outgoing Newcastle keeper Steven Harper.

"I certainly wouldn't have let him into Newcastle. It's ridiculous what he's been saying, it really is. There's something that isn't right here" -former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shephard.

"I'm really happy to see Joe back and I think his return can only be positive for everyone connected to the club" - Newcastle defender Steven Taylor.

Incidentally, Taylor added that: "We were in a great position under Joe in the league until he got ill and it was after that that things went wrong."

Newcastle were 15th in the Premier League when Kinnear became ill and only two points above West Brom, who were bottom. They had picked up just two points from their previous six games and were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round against Hull. But yes, Steven, it was after Kinnear stepped aside that things started to go wrong.

Just when we thought Newcastle had lost their 'laughing stock' status.

ha ha. They cant help themselves- nothing is so bad that you cant be entertained by the goings on at NUFC. I would rather listen to the likes of Kinnear (who clearly suffers from some sort of personality disorder) than the homespun bollo**s that Holloway will be regaling us with

Whenever I'm feeling embarassed about our club's situation I remember Newcastle and then I think Blackburn and I feel quite a bit better.

It seems to me that Mike Ashley actually hates NUFC! The Kinnear appointment makes no sense whatsoever. If its to get rid of Pardew and or Carr then he's a ****ing idiot for giving them 8 year contracts less than a year ago!

If you subscribe to The Guardian's daily email The Fiver (and you should, because it's brilliant) you will have seen this. If not, have a laugh at this - all apparently genuine:

It's the return of the Spot When Joe Kinnear Says Something Factually Accurate Game!:

"Every top club in the land has got [a director of football]" – nope.

"I've been a manager for 35 years" – not here, either.

"I've won every award there is in football as a player" – no.

"My experience as a manager for all those years – 10 years at Wimbledon …" – ooh, close. Actually seven.

"… two years at Nottingham Forest …" – tch. More like 10 months.

" … almost two years at Newcastle" – bah! Just over six months.

"I think all those qualities put me head and shoulders above every other director of football" – nope, no winners.

I am going to join a Newcastle Forum, if only to read what their fans think about the prat. Anyone like to bet on whether Pardew lasts until the start of the season?
