Can you see Mr Pearson working with a Football Director

Which is completely the wrong way to go about things.

If they don't want Pearson they should sack him, not try and undermine him to force him to quit.

It's all about the money honey.

Agree with corky on this .dont like Pearson never have , but the guy deserves abit more respect than plotting behind his back.

If this is the case and its away of getting Pearson to walk, then my dislike might just turn to the board and owners instead

There is nothing to suggest that this has been done behind Pearson's back.

Makes no difference Robinson and Richards have both been appointed at the club so Pearson is going to have to like it or lump it.

The director of football role is demonised in this country yet it mostly works well in Europe. I think it has a lot to do with the press. The media paint a picture of distrust, dislike and dispute between DoF and manager which becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. At a club like Leicester, there will be less attention so that shouldn't be a factor.

Although Pearson's stubbornness may be a problem further down the line.

Perhaps the director of football can be stubborn for him now and take a bit off his shoulders.

Spurs

But let's be fair that's taken quite some time indeed.

don't think old badger face has any choice in the matter ,its the owners way or the highway. :scarf:

He's a proud man. He'll walk if he feels like they are infringing into his realm of responsibility.

He'll no doubt be seeking assurances right now as to the exact role of this director of football and he'll be absolutely straight in his mind what he will and will not tolerate. If he is going to resign over this he won't fanny about he'll go quickly.

Hopefully not. This appointment may be the needle we need to winkle him out of the job and get someone in who knows what they are doing.[/quot

Like Joe Kinnear for example.. Why don't you try a little to support the man? Please just

One solid reason? Did he snub you in a bar or not offer to sign your programme?

Really hard to judge this. I don't buy into the theory that the owners have done this to push Nigel out, as that would still take take and distrupt plans for next season. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want that. I'd like to think NP could work with the guy, and if he is there to take administrative tasks over, who wouldn't be happy about that. If anybody wants to come and mark all my books for me and just let me get on with teahcing I'd be over the moon! ;)

I suspect NP knew of any impending appointment a while back. He's still here and will presumably have been consulted on the appointment. I'd be extremely surprised if he walked over it, as some are suggesting.

If Nigel Pearson was going to be sacked, it would of happened by now.

Its more likely that Andrew Neville is the one that my need to worry.

You're like a broken record. Keep harking back to a style of football we played in the minority of our games last season, it's pretty boring to be honest. And people moan that Pearson has no Plan B? Well when one style wasn't working, he switched to another and although results didn't improve immediately, they improved enough to get us into the playoffs.

Thought you were better than this!

Can anyone think of an example of when a DoF / Manager combination has been successful in English football?

Works at West Brom .

It will always be difficult for the incumbent manager having a position created above him.

There will inevitably be friction over grey areas of responsibility.May have to wait for our next "coach" for harmony.

Well he did ask ! As you are entitled to defend the kind of football that saw us throw away the second spot , so I am entitled to criticize it. I will always challenge selective memories as well you know. I know you are better than this .  :D  :D

the 'hoofball' didn't start until a few games into our bad run where it was clear our passing football - for whatever reason - wasn't working. NP clearly resorted to plan B to try and halt the slide, and eventually, it worked. I don't think that hoofball was the cause of our bad form, it's what Pearson had to use to try and stop it when it was clear our other style wasn't working.

As for why the footballing/slick passing game we were playing stopped being effective, well... that's the question.

We started getting found out and didn't have any other ideas, which is why we then started hoofing.

You're the master of conciseness. All hail flowwolf!

Why not post the sole word "hoofball" every time you reply from now on?

Because, that's more or like the essence of what you actually contribute on here on a day to day basis. :)

Has potential to be an instant classic - and also saves everybody else the hassle of having to read your posts entirely.
