Captain... Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I suspect everybody will ignore Bopara's efforts ready for when he next has a poor innings Was a cracking effort by Bopara, but we lost too many wickets too early to really mount an attack.
Guest MattP Posted 29 January 2014 Posted 29 January 2014 I suspect everybody will ignore Bopara's efforts ready for when he next has a poor innings It was ba great knock, problem is these only happen from Ravi when we are beaten. Had we needed 32 from 20 he would have found a way to get out.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 30 January 2014 Posted 30 January 2014 Zzzzzzz. It's not even remotely interesting anymore. 5 tests, 3 ODIs, 1 T20, leave it at that. I agree with this to some extent, the biggest issue is how far about some of the ODI's have been. 5 days in between a couple of the ODI's wasn't needed. As much as i dislike the T20's I will be going tomorrow night for something to do.
Captain... Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Just come home boys this is getting embarrassing.
Guest MattP Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Just schoolboy error after schoolboy error. They have even carted Hodge and White out of the retirement home and they have us in trouble.
marko Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Andy Flower has been given the axe. Quite disappointing as I think he did some fantastic things for English cricket.
Captain... Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Andy Flower has been given the axe. Quite disappointing as I think he did some fantastic things for English cricket. Seems a bit of a knee jerk reaction, one atrocious series after some very good series wins I would have thought they would have given him a bit more time, everything that could go wrong did go wrong this winter and a lot of them Flower had no control over. Oh well, onwards and upwards who is in the frame to replace him?
Corky Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Andy Flower has been given the axe. Quite disappointing as I think he did some fantastic things for English cricket. Massive shame his reign has ended like this. Three Ashes series wins, winning in India, beating them 4-0 at home, winning a world tournament for the first time (T20). Hope it's not Giles as his permanent replacement.
purpleronnie Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Its the typical England reaction, it can't be the player's fault, sack the coach.
marko Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Hope it's not Giles as his permanent replacement. Amen! I was just going to say this in reply to Captain Pancake Face question about the next coach.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Seems no one can survive falling out with K P
Guest MattP Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 What the hell? We've just sacked our most succesful ever coach because of one bad tour? Great shame, thanks for the memories Andy Flower. Best coach I've seen. What them go and give it Gilo now after ruining the limited overs side.
marko Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 What them go and give it Gilo now after ruining the limited overs side. He's the bookies' favourite. The Sporting Times should fire up its printing press and write another obituary for English cricket if he gets the nod.
marko Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Stephen Fleming was mentioned as a possibility. I think someone like that would be a good idea. Outsider who can bring new ideas and a fresh approach.
Guest MattP Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 He's the bookies' favourite. The Sporting Times should fire up its printing press and write another obituary for English cricket if he gets the nod. Since he got the One day Job he has lost three series, two to Australia and one to New Zealand, won one against Ireland (1-0 ) It's baffling he could even be considered. T20 he's had three series, drawn one and lost two.
surrifox Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 something wrong with the whole management structure above coach level IMO .Flower is paying the price for selection and other failures. re the latest pile of crap -changing the whole side for the T20 (and I appreciate that t20 is mickey mouse cricket but still) implies that we are bringing in some specialists with a view to taking it seriously (and to an extent this is the case ) yet we persist with Wright (living on glories of 3 years or more ago) Bresnan (not a T20 player and starting to wonder what he is actually for) Root (not a t20 and in danger of having a promising career fecked by his experiences of late) Tredwell (see Bresnan , cant bowl , field or bat ) Dernbach (nice tattoos probably the best seen in Club 2nd XI cricket which is his right level)

Well, he was last year, not sure about this year. I'm well on the ball me.
marko Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 In fairness to Wright he's been playing well in the BBL. Well, he was last year, not sure about this year. I'm well on the ball me. He is and he's performed very well. Up for the player of the tournament award.

He's been smashing everyone all over the place as a opener. So as per usual we decide to shove him in a different batting position to accomodate the painful Lumb.
Uncle Albert Posted 31 January 2014 Posted 31 January 2014 Highlights the fact that Flower is strictly a coach and not good at managing players, hence his new role at the Academy.
