It may have taken quite a while, but it looks like summer is finally here.

With temperatures expected to hit the high twenties over the weekend, it’s time to get your shorts out and your suncream on.

After months of miserable weather, forecasters are now predicting a heatwave across the country – and the sunshine is expected to continue into next week.

In Leicestershire, temperatures started to creep up yesterday and the mercury is continuing to rise. Sunday is expected to be the hottest day, with a high of 27C predicted.

bit of a change to the system

“So, no umbrellas this weekend, it’s suncream and hats all the way. People need to make sure they’re protected as the sun is very strong at this time of year.

“A lot of people will go mad but they need to remember to take it easy.”

Dave, 68, who lives in Cosby, said he would also be taking advantage of the sunshine.

“I’ve got some gardening to finish off but if it gets too hot I think I’ll have a sit in a deck chair and have a nice cold beer,” he said.

Yeah it's Saturday,

The worst day of the year on the course for any actual racing fan.

They label it Ladies Day and all of a sudden it's a sell out is what gets me, not really a race of much interest on the card

The weather models are showing the warm temperatures should last for around a week and for dry and settled weather to last for 10-14 days. Before they were showing the area of high pressure sitting further easy which would have allowed air in from the east which coupled with the high uppers would have allowed serious heat to occur. The last couple of runs have shown the high retreat back west, meaning we'd have cool uppers and more likely to be affected by weak fronts, bringing temperatures and sunshine levels down.

Still this comi week looks to be our best spell of July weather for 7 years

you should spend the good weather tarting it up a bit - today's police so shoddy.
