AnotherShitSeason Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 well... NP has certainly taken care of those "delusions of granduer" Yep, he's successfully squeezed the life out of everything & everyone.
marbelladave Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I can see your point but you'd like to think that the Forest & Bolton displays would be a huge lesson to him. I would genuinely love to know what you thought those lessons were. There are certainly weaknesses in terms of personnel. There was a whole host of reasons why we fell away last season. You have correctly identified one but there was more than that. Pearson isn't the only one who started to change and fall apart. Fair comment, but the collapse was so comprehensive and our attempts to deal with it so inept, that I have to think that our problems started from the top.......
demon_dog Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 If I base my reply on our form toward the end of last season then I have to say relegation. Yet again if I base it on the form until the end of January then automatic promotion. In which case I will say mid table. One thing I will say though is that in my opinion while Pearson is in charge we will never be promoted. *********** Rushes to fetch tin hat ready to be shot down *************
Bettsj2 Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I reckon we'll finish 2nd. But we'll still have the same amount if negativity here and at the ground. Someone wont get played or we'll lose at home to Derby or Pearson will upset Stringer blah blah blah, and you'll still have the same fvckwits on here bleating on about negative football, bring back O'Neill, need a midfield enforcer etc etc fvcking etc. Why do I think they'll finish so highly? Wigan aside, all the signings other teams have made have been dogshit. Also, some teams have made too many changes. The one thing that we lacked last year was bottle. We bottled it at the wrong time. We lost away to Peterorough and self-doubt crept in. They wont have that this year. The players will learn from that and push on.
lgfualol Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 He's probably thinking '****ing hell, I wish I had some money to strengthen this squad.' I think even if we did have the money - but with the same players, he wouldn't change anything.
Leicester_Numan Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Top 6. Though I'd tolerate 8th-10th if we are back in a strong financial position, cleared out all the deadwood like Danns, Beckford, Wellens etc and have managed to keep the nucleus of the side like Kasper, Morgan, James, King, Knocky, Nuge etc. Very sensible post and I think pretty much the same but whether the owners will tolerate it and keep Pearson for another season is another matter.
hackneyfox Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 As already mentioned, if we finish 8th to 10th then our best players will leave.
Raw Dykes Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I think even if we did have the money - but with the same players, he wouldn't change anything. What? That's totally irrelevant, and absolutely false.
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 As already mentioned, if we finish 8th to 10th then our best players will leave. Apart from Kasper who will be out of contract it's entirely up to us if the others leave.
Happy Fox Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Apart from Kasper who will be out of contract it's entirely up to us if the others leave. David Nugent Wes Morgan Paul Konchesky Lloyd Dyer These key players would be out of contract then you have the deadwood Waghorn Wellens Whitbread Danns St Ledger
Guest MattP Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 David Nugent Wes Morgan Paul Konchesky Lloyd Dyer Bottom two leaving wouldn't bother me. Nuge and Morgan are both out of contract as well? Didn't know that, we need to get some extensions on the table here fast then, signing those two up for a couple more years is more important than any signing we could make this summer..
lgfualol Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 What? That's totally irrelevant, and absolutely false. Excuse me, I'm trying to be irrational over here.
Dan Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 I would genuinely love to know what you thought those lessons were. Fair comment, but the collapse was so comprehensive and our attempts to deal with it so inept, that I have to think that our problems started from the top....... That attacking football is the way forward. We completely went at both of those two and it paid off.
seenitall Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Norway will we Finnish that high. Denmark the opposition strikers better......
Babylon Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Initial buoyancy at KP returning to dour atmosphere peppered by bloke half heartedly hitting a drum. We were top two and it was like a sodding wake down there most of last year. The atmosphere only picked up towards the end of the season during our bad run... so that's unlikely!

The game V Palace at home when we were second was like a morgue.

The atmosphere only picked up towards the end of the season during our bad run... so that's unlikely! Maybe this just goes to show that the team, manager and general football on display just do not inspire any enthusiasm around the place. No way would the KP be like that if, for instance, Martin O'Neill was gaffer!

l444ry Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Not remember the 0-2 v Sheff Utd? Remember it well Matt. Was there. Disgraceful and glad I wasn't one of the shortsighted idiots chanting. Mind you, a lot of this was a release of pent-up frustration and aimed at the Board as well with Martin caught in the middle of it.
cc_star Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 Most people thought around 7th this time last year, seems the average is roughly the same again. I think we'll improve on last season, but then again the points totals will likely be higher so I'm not sure that will translate into a different league position. I'd love us to be in the playoffs But the most pressing issue is shifting Wellens, Gallagher, SSL, Danns & Beckford otherwise we'll be facing action from the Football League. If we do shift them, then it's likely we'll be able to strengthen the squad with a couple of shrewd signings in the areas we need more bodies & if that happen I think we'll be more comfortable in the playoffs than the last minute of last season. It would be good to see what the development squad has to offer to the matchday squad too, I think the strength of our development side will bolster our matchday squad nicely!

Maybe this just goes to show that the team, manager and general football on display just do not inspire any enthusiasm around the place. No way would the KP be like that if, for instance, Martin O'Neill was gaffer! Rubbish! We played some of the best football I've ever seen us play. We were bloody free-scoring too, not just entertaining When we hit 2nd early on, the crowd was like... we should be top When we hit top later on, the crowd was like we should be 10pts clear. Then the atmosphere was corrosive rather than supportive. In the main the crowd was utter garbage throughout - without good reason too, until the abysmal run when some of the displays served up obviously deserved some stick. However, the crowd did get into towards the end, when we ground some results out to get in the playoffs. Why that support couldn't have been there when we were playing great & flying... and especially during the early stages of the poor run when it could have helped some of the young lads through I'll never know Hopefully we'll be there throughout this season

As CC said, it was more down to peoples attitudes than anything.
Chrysalis Posted 12 July 2013 Posted 12 July 2013 so based on the following. relegation form last 1/3 of season. weaker squad. rivals strengthening. we will finish top 10? wow. faith goes a long way I guess.
