Expectations for this Season?

It really depends on how much money is re-invested when we finally get these players off the books. You'd like to see improvement year in year out and as a result I'd want us to finish 5th or above, but this summer clearly isn't going to be the easiest to navigate. As long as we continue to look at improving the club's financial position, invest in young players with potential and don't slip too far down the division I'll be satisfied.

Top 8 at least but i expect a playoff place at minimum.

Just hope NP doesn't do stupid things again like sign Harry Kane play him despite being shit and play him out of position.

Top 6.

Though I'd tolerate 8th-10th if we are back in a strong financial position, cleared out all the deadwood like Danns, Beckford, Wellens etc and have managed to keep the nucleus of the side like Kasper, Morgan, James, King, Knocky, Nuge etc.

Well if we finish 8th-10th which you said you would tolerate, then it`s highly unlikely we will keep hold of Kasper, Morgan, Knocky and Nuge etc, at the end of next season, so we will need another rebuild.

Personally, i currently can`t see us finishing any higher than 10th at best, but i`m hoping to be proved wrong.

To those who express concern at our lack of transfer activity:

Squad 'strengthening' is a complete myth. We have been signing players consistently since establishment in 1884, theoretically to 'strengthen' our squad. Does that mean we've been getting incrementally better since then? No.

Our squad is only go to be genuinely strengthened if we bring in players better than we already have. And who are those players going to be? I'm not saying we have the greatest squad in the world, but that there won't be a great deal of realistic targets that are going to add much to what we already have.

If anything, we should see the benefits of an established, settled team next season.

We weren't far off last season and I think we're two signings away from bettering our last position.

That being said, our rivals have made some good early signings so right now i'd say play-offs to 10th is where we'll end.

If we sign a quality CB and CM then I think we can really pull up some trees.

We also need Marshall, Wood and Nugent to play like we know they can for the entire season.

I think we'll go up automatically.

Not sure why, but I do. What I will say is that I think that the low turnover of players will work in our favour.

I have to say that at the moment my expectations are fairly limited. There are some major issues that need sorting out and until that happens I can't see us doing that well.

We need to offload a good number of players. we are simply too unproductive in terms of a ratio of costs:performance. We spend too much money on players who don't really play. (Danns, Beckford,Waghorn, gallagher, Wellens etc etc).

We have a number of players who have basically been told they can leave but are still here. Can't be good for morale though there is still time to offload (eg SSL and Drinkwater)

Though we have a large squad on paper in reality we are desperately short in some positions. if any long term injuries occur to any of the following then we could have a tough time  Kasper, Morgan, James, Nugent, King, De Laet

if these things drag on into the start of the season and beyond the transfer window then i expect us to potantially finish between 12 and 15.

if we sort them out in the next few weeks and can add about 3 new quality faces then a top 6 finish is possible but it looks unlikely at the moment.

Just because we have not signed any players, many people assume mid table and a mediocre season. I agree the pre season is dull without much transfer activity but it does not mean we are going backwards. Didn't really work when we signed loads of player (Martin Allen, Sven etc) so it could work to our advantage to have a settled squad. As several people have pointed out we have some very good young players who can and should improve and I fully expect us to be in the playoffs at least.

We all know we had a shocker towards the end of the season but at times played some amazing stuff with these players (who I expect to get better). Pearson will get them fit and fired up for this season.

Yes, it would be nice for a few signings but people are over reacting as its been a quiet close season.

Hoping for top 6 but not going to kill myself if we don't get there, top 10 at worst. Don't know if my dodgy heart can take another season like last

My prediction is we'll start reasonably strongly..... being in and around the play offs until around january when the tiny squad gets a few injuries and suspensions and we'll fall away to mid table.

Between 5th and 8th. We have got some very good players here, and they should come back stronger this season. James being fit all season would be a major boost.

Perhaps more importantly, we need Pearson to have learnt a lot from this season. It's not rocket science that we need to go back to how we were planning in the opening months of the season, and it's down to him to get that back. If he gets the mentality right then this squad should be capable of play-offs.

Not sure about automatics but I think managerial and player stability will work in or favour. There shouldn't be that period where it looks like the players don't know each others names...
