Expectations for this Season?

Recommended Posts

Not very high, we need all of our players to get over last seasons malaise, we need strengthening in at least 4 positions and we need a manager who takes the game to the opposition when we play away from home.

At the moment I'm not expecting us to make the playoffs.

I think we'll do better than last season, whether that's 5th-3rd or automatic promotion I don't know.

Top 6.

Though I'd tolerate 8th-10th if we are back in a strong financial position, cleared out all the deadwood like Danns, Beckford, Wellens etc and have managed to keep the nucleus of the side like Kasper, Morgan, James, King, Knocky, Nuge etc.

Mid-table. No strengthening from last season, while 'rivals' are doing just that, can only mean one thing for me - a lower position.

However it's not all doom and gloom, if just a few of our players that under-performed last season such as Marshall, Konchesky & Drinkwater actually turn up this season it will be like 3 new signings.

From experience I have realised if you 'expect' promotion, it has the tendency to come back and bite you. I'm pretty sure we've expected promotion in each of the last 10 Championship seasons... including our relegation year.

So the moral of the story is: Aim low and you may just be pleasantly surprised - UP THE CITY :)

Given the financial constraints and little transfer movements so far, one can expect a Top Ten finish.

Although getting to 6th place again and winning the playoff final would be quite the treat.

Realistically, I can't see us being automatic promotion material at all.

But then again, this is the Championship...

I don't have any, stopped thinking about what might be re LCFC sometime around the Bassett management.

Avoiding relegation is as far I'll go.

I think we will be in the running for 6th come the last couple of games, but not through messing it up like last season, more like we'll spend most of the season hovering just outside the playoffs

Right now, not very high.

I think the league is still weak but not necessarily weaker. Cardiff not being in the league is a good thing but they've been replaced by Wigan and Reading, who both look to have good squads. Forest and Bolton will do better and Watford may have another good season but I can't see any other obvious threats, I think others like Brighton might regress.

The problem is we're in one of the weakest positions in terms of bringing in players because we're more in debt. We definitely need to strengthen (and I mean strengthen, as in better players than the ones we've got) with at least 3 additions if we want to significantly improve on last season and that doesn't look likely at the moment. Whilst we did finish in the top 6 last season it was with the lowest points tally for that position ever - we'll probably need to improve on that to make the top 6 again.

I'm hoping the young players will have matured a bit and learnt from last season because a lack of experience cost us big time. If this is the case it may be significant, as we were in a good position at one point of course.

We can finish in the top 6 again but at the moment I'm thinking we might fall short. I think anywhere between 4th and 10th sounds about right.

About 10th. I said after last year then I'd probably say it's time for a change from Pearson if we don't go up this year but the harsh reality is, we've regressed as a force in the transfer window and I don't put that down to him.

To be honest, if we have good support home & away all season, blood some youngsters who hit the ground running and develop the players we've got well, it'll be a good season as far as I'm concerned.

Very cautious. I'm worried that Pearson may have been found out, especially with how he sets out his midfield and forwards. Currently I think that we will end up a dull mid table but if we are below halfway after 15 games he may well be booted out and then who knows?

I've no idea, although I'd expect Wigan and Reading to finish top 2 with 4 of QPR, Leeds, Forest, Derby, Bolton and Blackburn in the PO's. Bournemouth to be one to watch as well. Still at the very least I'd expect a top half finish.
