eaglandlcfc Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 I don't no if its just me but I have a feeling we won't buy anyone till January after seeing what we can do in the league till then with the current squad
Wymsey Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 We say this every season he's been here, but this season coming is one of the most crucial for Pearson to meet the owner's expectations. He knows this, and I think we'll do okay (finish in the top six, at least). If we lose to lower opposition (e.g. Wycombe) in the rounds of the cups we're going to play in, the owners will even not mind this tbh as they want us to be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship.
Number 6 Posted 19 July 2013 Posted 19 July 2013 Bit of a thankless task: having to cut the wage bill. He is having to put his own job at risk for the long term benefit of the club. I, for one, am happy with him at the helm and hope that the season is judged on context rather than final position alone.
brfc24 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Plenty of wannabe managers on here who will take the job
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Again, I'll ask the question of FFP and why some other clubs don't seem to be overly bothered? Bolton have got Beckford (I doubt he's gone there for peanuts), QPR have retained a number of players and are linked with Gary Hooper (he won't come cheap). Blackburn have retained Rhodes and have signed DJ. Are these other clubs in a better financial position to us? I thought Bolton, for instance, were skint? We seem to be wanting to massively comply with FFP whereas some other clubs, seemingly, don't seem to be as compliant. Confuses me a little this? Parachute payments..
Babylon Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Plenty of wannabe managers on here who will take the job And get us promoted at the first time of asking whilst slashing the budget, playing like Brazil, getting on with everyone, being best friends with Stringer.

seenitall Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 And get us promoted at the first time of asking whilst slashing the budget, playing like Brazil, getting on with everyone, being best friends with Stringer. Ahhh the old 'you have to settle for tripe because you couldn't do better yourself' defence of a shite manager....one of my FT favourites
foxaholic Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 The same Martin Allen that just won promotion with Gillingham? That's only one division lower than Niges only triumph....... Why this vendetta with Allen . In the 3 games I saw under him we played excellent football at Palace hammered Watford and very unluckily lost to Blackpool. I also bet Frank Clark doesnt think he was a bad manager
muzzy1981 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Sacking Pearson would have gotten us nowhere. A new manager with no money to spend and a squad of somebody else's players we can't offload because of their ridiculous wages, not exactly a recipe for success is it. Pearsons our only shot of getting out of this league and that's purely because he's had more time with the players were stuck with. Nail on the noggin
Hollism Posted 22 July 2013 Posted 22 July 2013 Can see him going around November time if we're more than 6 points off the play offs. Don't think that will happen though. I want him to stay with us at least another year... maybe more. FFP is going to be a huge challenge and the pressure is on the men in suits. Partially to get rid of the high earners, but also to increase our income through international marketing and whatever forms of diversification they can come up with. The former seems to be going alright so let's not waste time changing things while we move in the right direction backstage, We can't afford to pay off Pearson and whoever we replace with's contract, so the gamble of sacking him is too much.
fleckneymike Posted 22 July 2013 Posted 22 July 2013 Barring disaster he'll see the season out. (Disaster being flirting with relegation)
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 July 2013 Posted 23 July 2013 we w be lumbered with Pearson now, until his contract expires.
MC Prussian Posted 23 July 2013 Posted 23 July 2013 we w be lumbered with Pearson now, until his contract expires. And we're lumbered with you now - when does your contract expire?

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 July 2013 Posted 23 July 2013 And we're lumbered with you now - when does your contract expire? Mine will never expire, as long as there are donkeys gullible enough to think "DOG" can do no wrong, however inept he is. If the cap fits, then wear it

potnoodle Posted 23 July 2013 Posted 23 July 2013 Have you washed your hands? just out the bath old bean..wearing my pink bathrobe glass of red and foxesplayer on..bliss
MC Prussian Posted 23 July 2013 Posted 23 July 2013 just out the bath old bean..wearing my pink bathrobe glass of red and foxesplayer on..bliss Great - I hope you do not forget to take the false teeth out before you go to bed. Oh, and remember to switch off all the lights sauf the one in the living room. It makes for a pretty effective anti-burglar method.
Long Eaton Fox Posted 23 July 2013 Posted 23 July 2013 Maybe Nigel Pearson has pre-empted FFP by making all his major signings last season. This team, one of the youngest in the football league, with a years extra experience maybe doesn't need to much improvement. RDL, Vardy, James, Knockeart, Moore, Schlupp, Marshall, Wood all new to the team and this division will surely be better this coming season. Added to Kasper, Morgan, Nugent, Konchesky et al I'm sure we wil be a force to be feared
