I thought Chelsea first half were pretty good, dominated the game and if it wasn't for their obvious weakness a like of a striker then they should of threatened PSG a hell of a lot more. God knows what happened in the second half, maybe it was Mourinho settling for what he already had from the first half, his away goal.

Massive ask now for Chelsea to score two goals and not to concede at home. Hopefully for their sake Ibra is out for a spell, him leading a PSG playing on the counter attack, all the best. Could personally do with Chelsea winning, just because if they progress then their semi finals will be either side of a trip to Anfield, European distractions and all that.

Maybe I was watching a different game and a different Cavani for much of the season, but am I alright in saying he is massively overrated?

Comfortable for Real Madrid, really can't see past them in winning the whole thing. Hope they do as well.

city lost to barca

arsenal lost to bayern (both with 10 men)

not exactly a disgrace. barca & bayern would beat most teams in the world, especially with 10 men.

united are in the quarters and drew with bayern despite being 7th in our league. again not bad, quite good in fact.

chelsea lost at psg, that's the only one of the 4 that has performed below par thus far, although psg are a very good side so it's hardly an "embarrassment" to lose away to them.

This is sort of my point though - it's just more and more proof that our top sides are slipping behind. PSG have spent a lot but haven't Chelsea? Haven't Man City?

To be completely fair, it's only half time, and Chelsea are well capable of beating PSG 2-0 IMO.

He got 20 goals before Christmas and missed few games through injury and now he is not quite the same.

I'm sorry but 20 goals in that League isn't something to bragging about, I don't think anyway, never have been a massive Cavani fan and he certainly isn't worth £54million.

Incorrect, Arsenal should of won their group and got a seeding and therefore avoid having to play Bayern. City I agree it would probably be harsh to call their exit under performance but I am sure they'd of been hoping for better than last sixteen. United's draw means nothing yet and their run in has been a joke and they nearly cocked even that up, Chelsea had looked competent, until last night but now look like their going out to the French Champions, the first proper test they've had in the competition. The Europa League has been worse than embarrassing.

It doesn't make good reading.

I apologise, I checked Cavani's stats and it turned out Cavani only have 14 goals in the league so it must be 20 goals in all competition. I must have misread the article yet I think it is harsh to deride players who reached that amount by Christmas. Only Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo did that this year (from looking at all top scorers in European leagues and guessing) so it must be a difficult achievement, if it was that easy then players from lesser leagues will be hitting that amount comfortably.

Twenty goals before Christmas - even in all competitions - is pretty good whoever you are.

Cavani scored a goal every other game in Serie A (if you factor in his time at a bang average Palermo, it was more than that for Napoli) - he's obviously not rubbish.

Recently for PSG he's been a natural number nine playing out of his position on the wing, having recovered recently from a knock. He's also no longer the principal goalscorer for his club, given the form Zlatan has been in.

He's obviously not the best striker in the world at the moment but he's clearly still a damn good one.

Cheers for putting it better than me. I thought you mentioned in other thread that you are supposed to be winding down your debates?  :P

Fair enough, stats never lie.

I just wouldn't make him my priority if I was searching for a new striker, for the money he is valued at, you would surely be going for Costa instead?

In other news, anyone else read about Bayern Munich banning The S*n and The Daily Mirror from the second leg v Man United after their back pages regarding Schweinsteiger? Fair play to them.

Now, possibly, thing is though Costa was very much a surprise package this season. Not many people saw this run of form coming or that he'd step in to Falcao's shoes so brilliantly. Cavani and Falcao both had a record of scoring between a goal every other and a goal a game. Costa hasn't yet stood the test of time, so to speak, Cavani has.

Let's be fair, though, it's splitting hairs. They're both world class forwards and you wouldn't turn down either in your side.

Hmm I just don't rate and like Cavani, again that will comeback to the standards of Leagues he is playing in, arguably the 3rd and 5th strongest Leagues in Europe in Serie A and Ligue 1.

I'm sure after me saying all this he will comeback and bite me straight on the arse and score a brace v England in the summer.

You might be alright, he saves his off days for international duty.

You may only have to contend with Suarez and he appears to have lost his golden touch.

Ha, even I won't bite regarding Suarez my Welsh friend.

Now his stats do speak for itself.

"Imagine if Suarez took penalties.."

I can tell you Suarez definitely has dipped in goalscoring, I know this because I put him in my ****ing dream team.

Yeah, it's my fault. :(

Finners spot on about Cavani to be fair. I think for the amount of money they spent it might've actually been an idea to buy someone they really needed.

Can't knock how PSG played last night though, although I thought Zlatan was a bit disappointing.

Bayern Munich have denied accreditation to both the Sun and the Daily Mirror for the Champions League last-eight second-leg game at the Allianz Arena, following the two rag's coverage of the away game at Manchester United. lol

Was a bit tougher than you describe lol

Only just. He was about six yards out with the goal gaping. You have to score that at this level.
