Dan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Hands up if you're completely amazed? This won't be a popular comment but as far as I am concerned that was an absolute masterclass from Moyes. His players are nowhere near the level of Bayern's at the moment (which is partly, maybe even largely his fault) but he got it tactically spot on given the circumstances. Perhaps that is Moyes though. Home game with a bunch of decent pros against top quality stars he's pretty routinely done the business in his time at Everton. Alternatively, you could argue that tonight proved that Moyes could operate at the very top level, but I don't think you'd find too many takers for that! Seeing his record away at the top sides makes me think otherwise. They'll be slapped silly in the second leg. I know I said they would be last night (didn't see the game but going to assume they sat back, were largely outplayed but Bayern didn't create enough). but I really do think they won't handle Bayern at their place.
AKCJ Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Sirigu Jallet Silva Alex Maxwell Motta Matuidi Veratti Lavezzi Ibrahimovic Cavani Schurrle Hazard Oscar Willian Ramires Luiz Azpilicueta Terry Cahill Ivanovic Cech Subs; PSG; Douchez, Cabaye, Marquinhos, Digne, Rabiot, Pastore, Moura Chelsea; Lampard, Torres, Mikel, Ba, Schwarzer, Ake, Kalas
Dan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 PSG are actually pretty average outside of their attack. Verratti & Silva are exceptions.
ScouseFox Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 bale 1-0. good goal. dortmund could get whammed tonight.
One Legged Beaver Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Ramires gets a suspension just about every time I watch him play, such a liability. Doesn't seem to add anything to the team either.
ScouseFox Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Pastore has an always will be one of the sexiest motha****as in the game
MC Prussian Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Massive goal for PSG. Some Chelsea fans were already calculating a 1-0 home win in the return fixture. Way to go, you Blues.
Stadt Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 3-0 Madrid. Only caught the last 20 minutes but is Morata any good because he's highly rated but he looked very, very average. PSG are actually pretty average outside of their attack. Verratti & Silva are exceptions. Matuidi and Sirigiu are class.

leicesterisme Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Quite sad to see how shit Torres is nowadays. He used to be untouchable at Liverpool.
Stadt Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I think people want him to be good rather than actually being good. Like I said I've only seen him once and I've barely watched Madrid this season but it certainly appears that way.
Dan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Jesus Christ. Chelsea were woeful. I wouldn't be surprised if they found a way through this tie still, but they'll need dramatic improvement. English sides' performance in Europe these days is an embarrassment.
AKCJ Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Like I said I've only seen him once and I've barely watched Madrid this season but it certainly appears that way. He's like when a young English player shows a bit of promise, the media go crazy. He's been superb for Spain U21s but he's totally out of his depth in the Madrid first 11 (who wouldn't be to be fair). I think he could do with a move to a Europa league type club.

English sides' performance in Europe these days is an embarrassment. city lost to barca arsenal lost to bayern (both with 10 men) not exactly a disgrace. barca & bayern would beat most teams in the world, especially with 10 men. united are in the quarters and drew with bayern despite being 7th in our league. again not bad, quite good in fact. chelsea lost at psg, that's the only one of the 4 that has performed below par thus far, although psg are a very good side so it's hardly an "embarrassment" to lose away to them.
Leicesterpool Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Chelsea really looked clueless and boring. Mourhino tactics for yer.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I really like Matuidis game for PSG, his tracking back and pace was really impressive.
