Simmo86 Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I've got to do midweek home games this year on my own as my mate works nights. I know the lads around me so its not to bad. Did Cardiff away on my todd last season. Horrendous!!
Bayfox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Never gone to a game on my own. No idea what I'd do to be honest if my mates said they didn't want to bother anymore, not sure if I would bother on my own, part of the joy of the game and celebrating is the fact you are doing it and sharing it with your mates. This. Wouldn't know what to do without being able to have a beer and a chat with my mates after. Can't think i've ever been to a game on my own. Had to sit on my own a watford a few years back and even that was a bit weird. At the OP where you based mate?
rico Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Will be doing all home games on my own as my mate stopped going because NP remained in charge this season
Fox92 Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Never been on my own, but I can't imagine it being to bad. It always looks like there are plenty who go alone.
RowlattsFox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Been on my own a couple of times. Simply because I love football so I'd rather go on my own than not at all. Of course, given the choice I'd rather go with somebody else, even If its just dragging the mrs along.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Never been to a game on my own. To be honest, I've never needed to (mates in my youth, then my son). I doubt I'd mind it though. I'd just get chatting to people if I felt I needed to.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I've been to a couple of home games on my own- Wolves last game of the season and a 4-1 ?? defeat was one. I was on my own in the ground v Villa in the league cup tie the same season though I'd travelled with friends, they'd just gone in the Keith Weller lounge for the actual match. I'd do it again if needed though I don't particularly enjoy it.
nlukka Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I go on my own. That's mainly because none of my mates support City, they're glory-hunting Gooners or Utd 'fans'. Not as fun on your own but you kind of get used to it (how sad does that sound?!)
LutterworthLCFC Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I went to wolves away on my own because I went for the weekend to see some mates who are wolves fans. Also went forest away on my own, because I was in the forest end, met up with mates before and after the game.
Nift Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 If you have a real passion for the game nothing should stop you from going. When your in the stand it doesn't matter as we're all in it together.
eye666 Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Nothing like being on your own and hugging strangers when we score...
bovril Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Never been to a game on my own. To be honest, I've never needed to (mates in my youth, then my son). I doubt I'd mind it though. I'd just get chatting to people if I felt I needed to. Basically this. I've watched couple of away games on my own but met up with opposition supporting mates before and after. I can't wait til my own son is old enough to take down there. Might have to cut down on the time spent in the pub though (no bad thing).
Lasty Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I used to do a few aways on my own when I was a student. As long as you're willing to talk and you're not a complete arse it's pretty easy to make a friend as there's decent camaraderie between City fans away from home. There's one or two that think they're too good to talk to a stranger but In general it's ok. Not done it since I was a student though, usually mob handed these days.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Living in the South East, I always go to games on my own.
Foxy Bingo Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I went Forest away last season on my own. Purely because I got my ticket early, relying on others to get theirs the next day and it sold out.. Funnily enough, I really didn't mind in the end
ian1984summer Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 been to plenty of games on my own, home and away. usually last minute decisions as I play football Saturdays and sundays so if a game gets called off the night before or early morning then ill just head off on my lonesome. usually bump into a few friendly faces anyway.
Tedders Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Like others I've been forced into a situation of go on my own or not at all as my leicester supporting mates have moved away with work commitments etc. and can only make a handful of games now have took the mrs a couple of times but doesn't bother me going on my own. only thing I do miss about it is I now go straight to the ground instead of going to the pubs beforehand and the sharing the driving.
00rawat Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Nothing like being on your own and hugging strangers when we score... i have done that loads of times haha
LCFC FOX Posted 13 September 2013 Author Posted 13 September 2013 Some interesting replies and I will give it a go then. Obviously I would prefer to go with my mates and I always have done and I will carry on going to home games with them. Its just the travel I suppose would be boring on your own
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I go to home games on my own.. but I smell. Bernie??!
Kitchandro Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Definitely wouldn't fancy an away on my own. Even doing home games on my own when I had a Season Ticket got depressing.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 I'm too social for that,I need to talk to people on long journeys and days out. Even if I'm deathly dull.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Went to two games on my own last season... we won 6-0 and 6-1..... my next "on my own" game will be Blackburn on Tuesday You do realise that people will be putting hits out on your mates now?
dayday Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Thats cos you got no mates mate!! I use to go with about 15 lads from Rugby, when they hit the mid twenties they virtually stopped going. Now them same lads may go 1 to 5 games a season
svensson Posted 13 September 2013 Posted 13 September 2013 Makes me laugh when the "loyal supporters" chant gets going. I wonder how many of those would go on their own. A true fan of the club would go anywhere and everywhere on their own.
