Tubes Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Just spoke to Andrew Neville and we aren't making FFP. Its not impossible if January is kind. Also said if we are there abouts expect us to spend money in January cause we'll get an embargo anyway.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 What implications would the embargo mean? At this rate we don't need any more players anyway (bar injuries) If we got promoted whilst failing the FFP rules what would happen then as the TV revenue would surely mean we'd be ok?
DennisNedry Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Doesn't failing FFP just result in a transfer ban? So long as there is no points deduction I'm not shitting myself just yet.
Bettsj2 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 They will re think FFP as about 80% of clubs that matter wont make it.
Leicester Lass Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Not surprising at all, it would take a minor miracle for us to meet FFP given the wages we've been happy to dish out to average players in previous season.
Leicester_Numan Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 What implications would the embargo mean? At this rate we don't need any more players anyway (bar injuries) If we got promoted whilst failing the FFP rules what would happen then as the TV revenue would surely mean we'd be ok? We'd just get a fine which we could easily cover with the TV revenue. As I said to Monsell in a thread before the season started, now is not the time to gamble but if we're up around the top come January, it could well be worth spending a bit of cash for that final push, although I don't think we'd need to spend much
deep blue Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 If we got a transfer embargo, would that apply to next season if we got promoted? I also think we wouldn't suffer too much with a transfer embargo in this division as we have a complete squad now, but if we got to the Prem we would definitely need a few additions.

I also think we wouldn't suffer too much with a transfer embargo in this division as we have a complete squad now, but if we got to the Prem we would definitely need a few additions. Think it's a transfer embargo if you don't get promoted, a fine if you do.
Guesty Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 If that happens I wonder what you do with the likes of Schmeichel in January. If you know you can't buy anyone next summer you pretty much have to say sign a new contract now or we will have to buy your replacement now. Same with any other out of contract players.
DennisNedry Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 We need promotion, the PL revenue would put us way in the green. Therefore is the worth the risk overspending to try and get to the PL?
MooseBreath Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 We need promotion, the PL revenue would put us way in the green. Therefore is the worth the risk overspending to try and get to the PL? This is a reasonable question, which is ridiculous when you consider the 'stated aim' of FFP is to stop clubs from thinking that way and getting themselves in trouble. Am I right in thinking the transfer embargo lasts until we can demonstrate we've got back within the limits? So theoretically when a few big contracts are up at the end of the season we could be back within the limits pretty quickly anyway
Dickov22 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Just spoke to Andrew Neville and we aren't making FFP. Its not impossible if January is kind. Also said if we are there abouts expect us to spend money in January cause we'll get an embargo anyway. Correct. But Pearson knows this, and as a result has signed all the players he wants so that if we have a transfer ban next season, it won't be a problem.
Guesty Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Correct. But Pearson knows this, and as a result has signed all the players he wants so that if we have a transfer ban next season, it won't be a problem. Apart from Schmeichel, Morgan and Nugent only have contracts till the end of this year. If we don't go up and they go elsewhere then Pearson definitely will have a problem.
Jace Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Don't worry the profits from fox & crop will save us
Dickov22 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Apart from Schmeichel, Morgan and Nugent only have contracts till the end of this year. If we don't go up and they go elsewhere then Pearson definitely will have a problem. Yeah but we will offer them all new contracts won't we?
Guesty Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 If they were happy to stay in the Championship with us I would have thought they'd already have signed new contracts. Kasper was already wanted by Prem clubs this year and said in the summer 'now is not the right time to talk about a new contract' so he could definitely be off. Who knows; if newly promoted teams needed a good cb or gk for free so they could spend on other parts of the squad Kasper and Morgan aren't bad options.
Monsell1976 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Well we are putting ourselves in a strong position for a promotion push, so let's hope this season is the one, and with the premier league money we can keep the good players. I am like we all are worried about the implication of not getting promoted, if we fail we are going to have to rely on loyalty of these players if we get a transfer embargo, and this will probably mean a wage cut for them, and Pearson if they stay, will they show that sort of commitment?. Maybe try and get them on a additional year, and ask them to take a cut, and if promoted pay them a big bonus to compensate the difference, I don't know just clutching at straws as I would be a shame to lose them.
Walshy5 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Morgan is off in Jan to compete with this. Why do you think we bought the polski?
Carl the Llama Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Morgan is off in Jan to compete with this. Why do you think we bought the polski? Because he's a beast and he was free.
fleckneymike Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Apart from Schmeichel, Morgan and Nugent only have contracts till the end of this year. If we don't go up and they go elsewhere then Pearson definitely will have a problem. And Konch and Dyer
Walshy5 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Because he's a beast and he was free. Inside info mate! and in Jan i will bring you back to this.
Libertine Dream Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Morgan is off in Jan to compete with this. Why do you think we bought the polski? Like we'll get any real money for him in january
Harry - LCFC Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Inside info mate! and in Jan i will bring you back to this. Was it you who said a number of key players would be off in the window just gone or was that someone else? I forget, but I know someone made these big claims that turned out to be incorrect.
Walshy5 Posted 28 September 2013 Posted 28 September 2013 Not me but i know key players will be off in jan to compete with ffp! Morgan and kasper are to expensive! They have been offered new deals but wont exepet them so therefore will be sold for any price so we can at least make abit so they dont go for free in the summer!
