Although it offers the highest average wages for young people at £27,560, it also had the highest cost of living, rental rates and levels of crime. Leicester 'is sixth best UK city for young people' The 20 cities were assessed across 10 criteria identified as important by young adults, including job satisfaction, job opportunities, wages, rents niceness of environment and work-life balance. hairy Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Bullshit that. I must say I find it very hard to believe too.
purpleronnie Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I would have taken a playoff spot at the start, so quite happy with that. And here comes the negative comments.... edit: oops 2 already. If you can beat them join them. Leicester is a shit hole, no way can we be sixth...whine whine whine.
absolutelegend Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I judge cities by how easy they are to get out of
Alf Bentley Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 The total for Cov seems to add up to 95, not 81, which would put it below Leicester and well down the table... Am I missing something or can they just not add up? If Leicester is ranked 1st for "Job I enjoy" and "Work-Life Balance", with Coventry 11th for both and Nottingham 15th for both, that all sounds a bit random. Where are all these great jobs in Leicester....and surely it should rank higher than 14th for culture?
Guest MattP Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Wow, just wow. I'm sure the kids of Oxford, Cambridge, Dorset, Cheshire and Kent will all be upping sticks and fighting over the possibility at getting themselves as quickly as possible to Glasgow, Hull, Leicester, Cov, Belfast, Sunderland, Bradford and Wakefield. How the fcuk do they come up with these lists and how gullible do they think the people who read it are?

davieG Posted 3 October 2013 Author Posted 3 October 2013 Wow, just wow. The fact that they only assessed these 20 cities gave them a massive head start. All seems a bit pointless unless the job is done properly and they include a whole lot more places. It's a table of the best of the worst in many respects. you've just listed a load of expensive places. i guess you are missing the main part of their point No he's listed a load of places that weren't included in the assessment.
Adster Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I live in Coventry and it's an absolute shithole. I'm not just saying that too.
MooseBreath Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Cardiff, Edinburgh, Bristol, then Manchester, London, Leeds - the rest are shit. Coventry is the worst city I've ever been to, and I've been to Dhaka.
Guest MattP Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 you've just listed a load of expensive places. i guess you are missing the main part of their point I'm not, I'm pointing out what DavieG has also said, they have basically tossed together the biggest shitholes going and threw them into a league.
Merging Cultures Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Cardiff, Edinburgh, Bristol, then Manchester, London, Leeds - the rest are shit. Coventry is the worst city I've ever been to, and I've been to Dhaka. Dhaka is quite fun... assuming you have money.
indierich06 Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 I saw Cardiff and Cov were the top two and I stopped taking it seriously there. Coventry is ****ing horrible, and I'm not even saying that as a Leicester fan, it's a ****ing dump - and I know dumps, I lived in Stoke for three years.
kingfox Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 This is the worst list right? Wouldn't even put us in the top 50.
Guest MattP Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Get the feeling this on a par with Borat's sister being 'third best prostotute in Kazakhstan.
purpleronnie Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Get the feeling this on a par with Borat's sister being 'third best prostotute in Kazakhstan. Well on that subject I'd have to bow to your superior prostitute knowledge.
DennisNedry Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 This is like coming 6th in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy All the shit clubs with no chance of winning the FA Cup all competing for a prize nobody cares about.
Stadt Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 The best of a really bad, god awful, very shÃt bunch.
Dan Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Howcome Coventry's so bad? I've actually never been to it other than the Ricoh and that barely counts. Leicester's a shithole.
purpleronnie Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 The best of a really bad, god awful, very shÃt bunch. I like your positive view.
Haydos Posted 3 October 2013 Posted 3 October 2013 Well on that subject I'd have to bow to your superior prostitute knowledge.
