It's a common stereotype just the same as we have here, nerds etc. There's a lot of overlap. In fact, in the West there's a slight copycat phenomena known as weeabo. Basically, Western (mostly American) nerds that want to be Japanese. The irony is that the culture weeabo imitate the most is otaku culture which is ostracized in Japan. Akihabara is quite cool, though. If you can look past the cartoon porn and maid cafes, some of the best games arcades in the world are there. If you like your Street Fighter or your arcade shooters its a must.

He has a terrible temper and probably wouldn't see the funny side of it I'd definitely give Olive Oyl a miss though, she's a reet skinny bint. I never understood why Popeye and Bluto were always fighting over her.
