Wycombe Fox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I found this photo that I took at the last game at Filbert Street. I'd forgotten about this and found it at the weekend, fading away at my Dad's house so I've brought it home and restored the colours. Thought you might be interested. It's two photos merged together in the earlier days of digital cameras and software.
Bert Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I was there. Auld Lang Syne was sang at the end of the game. Can't remember the score though.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Steve Walsh last ever goal, penalty against Kevin Poole at the kop. Unbelievable when you think it's been over ten years since we left. Love to go back one more time.
pat0606 Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I was also there and had tears in my eyes when Auld Lang Syne was sang

kingfox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Any picture of Filbert Street gives me goosebumps.

Guest MattP Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 I actually regret goint to this game, it was a massive let down. The Spurs game was the right time to go, drunk, having won and on the pitch, I managed to give Gary Lineker a kiss on his way off.
Corky Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Didn't go to this one unfortunately, would've been an occasion to remember (although Matt might not agree ) Was at the Spurs match, can recall a couple of aborted pitch invasions before the real thing.

It might be me being a right miserable git but i don't have good memories of it. The end of the game pitch invasion was the best one, never forget the geezer running on from the East Stand with a bucket and spade digging up the centre circle.
absolutelegend Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Glad you mentioned that it was 2 photos merged together. I thought it was 3 photos until he said that
Hugo Sanchez Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Did anyone go into filbert street after it closed down ? I did a few times, the turnstiles at the back of the double decker had been been opened. Wish I was old enough to think, to actually get some stuff. There was a goal up at the kop end for some reason still and loads of football's about.

davieG Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 Lots of reminders in here -http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/45200-filbert-street-the-legendary-home-of-leicester-city-football-club/
kingfox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 This has made me trawl through my photo albums. And I found two pics from a Leicester City Open Day in 2000. Funny enough I'm with Dion Dublin's nephew in both pics

It's two photos merged together in the earlier days of digital cameras and software. It was a sad state of affairs towards the end of the filbert street era. The groundsman couldn't be bothered to join the white lines up, there was a pronounced slope to the pitch, a curved penno box and they made the pitch 3 tone in colour. It sickens me to this day. This professional picture perfectly captures this squalor. Thanks.

dave_the_fox Posted 12 November 2013 Posted 12 November 2013 You know we still have the same groundman right? Whoosh!!! I thought the last peno was against Royce? And it had to be retaken cus he saved it? Could be wrong though! Gutted we weren't allowed on the pitch that night though :-(
